2N NetStar
®isanewgenerationofPBXwhichsupportsVoIPtechnology.Itworkslike
anormalPBXandVoIPsoftswitchandfullyconnectsservices.Itenablesanumberof
devicestobeusedsuchasanaloguetelephonelinesISDNBRI,ISDNPRIandVoIP.The
individual networks' properties are not separated but integrated into one compact
system.
Thesystem'scallcapacitycorrespondstotheneedsoflargecompaniesandoperators.
Transferbetween variousnetworksis governedby dynamicleastcost routing(LCR),
whichselectsthecheapestandbestrouteformakingacalltothe numberrequired.
Thankstothe wellthoughtoutLCR,inwhicheverysubscriberorindividualport can
haveits ownroutingtable, itis noproblemto createa virtualPBXor simplycreate
restrictionsforcertainsubscribergroupsorindividuals.
Theoptionsforthesubscriberterminalsandcommunicationsarenotdependentonthe
communications technology used. All extensions, from analogue phones to web
terminals have the Web Assistant available for simple user configuration of the
services. The Web Assistant combines web interfaces with voiced instructions and
guidestotheindividualservices.Itisequallyeasytooperatethesystemphonesby
usingthecontextmenu.Itispossibletodefineallofthephones'settingsbymeansof
theprofiles,whichcanbeeasilycreatedbytheuserorsystemadministratorbymeans
oftheguide.

2.1 Incoming Calls
Wheneveracalliscomingfromapublic/GSM/IP/privatenetworkand/orfrominternal
subscribers,yourphonestartsringing.
Receiving Calls
Toreceiveacall,justpickupthehandset.
Ifyour phone is equippedwitha HandsFree button,pushthebutton and start
talking without lifting the handset. Before using the HandsFree function, make
surethatyourphoneisequippedwithamicrophoneandaloudspeaker.
Ifyourphoneisequippedwithaheadset,pushtheHandsFreebuttontoreceive
thecall.IftheHandsFreebuttonisnotusedforcontrollingtheheadset,follow
themanufacturer'sinstructions.
ToreceiveaVoIPcallusingyourphone,followtheabovelistedsteps.Ifyouare
using a software phone (e.g. a SJ–phone), then follow the particular software
controlinstructions.
Rejecting Calls
Ifyoudonotwanttospeaktothecaller,youcanusethecallrejectingservice.The
callerhearsthebusytone.Incasemorestationsthanoneareringing(whenthecallis
routedtothe userandall theuserstations areringing),thecallerhearstheringing
toneuntilyourejectthecallforthelastuserstation.Youcanrejectacallusingthe
ISDN phones, phones and some software phones for VoIP2N®StarPoint
communication,oronanexternalGSMstation.
ForanISDNphone,usetheESCoranotherbuttonforthispurpose.
For a phone, use an Escape–programmed button. If you have2N StarPoint
®
notprogrammedabuttonforthisfunction,pushtheForwardbuttononceorthe
Backbuttontwiceandthenpresstheconfirmationbuttontorejecttheincoming
call.
MostsoftwarephonesusedforVoIPcommunicationhaveaDeclinebutton,which
isalsousedforrejectingcalls.
Ignoring Calls
Youcanalsoignoreanincomingcall,lettingitringuntilanotheruseranswersit(inthe
case of routing to multiple user stations), or the calling party or the communication
systemterminatesit(aftera180sdefaulttimeoutinthelattercase).
Rejecting All Incoming Calls (DnD)
YoucanassigntheDoNotDisturbfunctiontoa phonebuttontoreject2N StarPoint
®
allincomingcalls.Outgoingcallsarenotaffectedbythisfunction.TheLEDnexttothe
buttonindicateswhetherornotthefunctionisenabled.

2.2 Outgoing Calls
Tocallasubscriberinapublic/GSM/IP/privatenetwork,dialthesubscribernumberon
yourphone.
Call Set-Up Options
Liftthehandsetanddialthesubscribernumber.
PresstheHandsFreebuttonanddialthesubscribernumber.
Dial the required number and lift the handset or press the HandsFree button
(usingthisoptionyoucancorrectawronglydiallednumber).
If your phone is equipped with a headset, then all of the three above listed
optionsareavailabletoyou.Mostprobablyyoudialthenumberandthenpress
the HandsFree button to activate the headset. If the HandsFree button is not
usedforcontrollingtheheadset,followthemanufacturer'sinstructions.
If you are using a software phone (e.g. SJ-phone), then follow the relevant
software control instructions. Mostly the number is entered from the numeric
keypad or directly by pressing the software phone's virtual buttons with the
mouse.
Calling Internal Subscriber
Dialthenumberoftheinternal(communicationsystem)subscriberusingoneof
theoptionsdescribedabove.
Fora phone,youcanusetheinternalphonedirectoryfunction2N StarPoint
®
andsearchthenumberaccordingtothesubscribername.
Calling External Subscriber
Dial the number of the external subscriber using one of the options described
above.
To access a public or private network it is mostly necessary to dial a network
accesscodebeforediallingthesubscribernumber,typically'0'.Tomakeacall
over the VoIP dial '9' in most cases. Your service organisation will inform you
whichaccesstypesareavailabletoyou.
Youcanalsouseanyoftheoptionsdescribedbelowtocallaninternal/external
subscriber(Speed Dialling, Hotline, Redial, Log Dialling, Direct Access). To use
someoftheoptionsaskyourserviceorganisationforsettings.
Speed Dialling
Speeddiallingisasimplified,mostlysingle-buttondiallingofa station,2N NetStar
®
userorgroup.Speeddiallingmustbesetbytheadministrator.
Hotline
HotlineisthedestinationthatisautomaticallydialledafterhandsetliftingorHandsFree
activation and dialling timeout expiry. The destination can be another station, user,
group,publicnetworksubscriber,ortheringingtable.

Redial
TheRedialservice(theRbuttononmostphones)enablesyoutoredialthelastcalled
numberregardlessofwhetherornotthecallhasbeensetupsuccessfully.
Withthe phones,thelastcallednumberisthelastsuccessfullyrouted2N StarPoint
®
one(thecallwasansweredorthecalledstationwasalerted).
CertaintypesofanalogueandISDNphoneshavetheirowndatabase
ofmissedandreceivedcalls.Thesecallsaregoverneddirectlybythe
logicofthesephones.
Log Dialling
LogdiallingmeansdiallingthenumbersrecordedintheAOCdatabase.Thelistofcalls
(log) includes three types of calls - Missed, Received and Outgoing. The service is
availablefor:

SoftwareapplicationssuchastheCTIphoneorCRMsystem.
CertaintypesofanalogueandISDNphoneshavetheirowndatabase
ofmissedandreceivedcalls.Thesecallsaregoverneddirectlybythe
logicofthesephones.
Direct Access
Direct access means dialling an external network number by circumventing the LCR
rules.Thiscanbedonebydirectaccesstoabundleoraspecificport.Directaccess
can, for instance, be used for calling private destinations or cross-connections. Most
often,however,itisusedforportaccesstoaportforservicepurposes(linefunction
check). This option must be set by the communication system administrator and,
typically,itusesadoubledigitaccesscode.
Fast Intercom
Do you need to quickly convey information to your colleagues, assistants or
supervisors? The Fast Intercom will call them, inform them of an incoming call and
answerthecallitself.Allyouhavetodoisspeak.Theserviceisonlyavailableon2N®
phones.TosettheIntercombuttonsuse (seetheStarPoint 2N NetStarAssistant
®
manual).2N NetStarAssistant
®
Pushandholdthe Intercom button on your phone. The called2N StarPoint
®
station( )givesashortringandisautomaticallyanswered.You2N StarPoint
®
canstarttalking.ToterminatethecalljustreleasetheIntercombutton.Youcan
havemoreIntercombuttonsforvariousdestinations.
Ifthecalledstationisaphoneotherthan ,thecallringsuntilthe2N StarPoint
®
useranswersit.

Calling Line Identification Restriction (CLIR)
ThepurposeoftheCallingLineIdentificationRestriction(CLIR)functionistohidethe
caller'sId.Theserviceisactiveforaselectedstationuntildisabled.Theenabledstatus
canbeindicateduponanyhandsetpick-upreplacingthedialtone.
Thisfunctionmustbesupportedbyyourmobileproviderorpublic
telephonenetworkoperator.Otherwise,thecallwillbedisconnected.
