SETUP
To ensure that it splits the product in two equal size units, it is important that the guide rails be
positioned correctly
To adjust the guide rails, loosen the bolts that position them and move them closer or further
apart to allow approximately 3-4 mm larger opening than the width of the double brick
There are indicator markings on the slides to assist equal symmetrical positioning as well as
parallelism
The splitter must be setup for each product
The top blade is stationary, whilst the bottom blade moves up and down to create the split
action
The stroke on the bottom blade is approximately 20 mm and cannot be adjusted
To ensure proper penetration, the top blade must be adjusted up or down to accommodate the
brick height
To adjust the top blade, remove the top cover by unscrewing the two top nuts holding it in
position Beneath the top cover, there are two adjusting bolts on either side of the blade with
lock nuts The blade can be adjusted by using these nuts
Before adjusting the top blade, make sure the four bolts locking the blade are loosened
It is important to adjust the top blade with a clearance of approximately 4-5 mm above the
brick height to avoid the bricks touching the blade when pushed into position
Please ensure that the top blade is set parallel to the bottom blade
Lock all the bolts and nuts and replace the top guard before operating the splitter

To setup the splitter to accommodate the length of the brick, the stopper (big nut at back)
must be adjusted to ensure that the whole brick is covered by the blade
Please ensure that the next brick in line is not partly under the blade,
as it will damage or chip it

OPERATING PROCEDURE
Plug the splitter into a single phase 15 amp plug point and switch on
Press the START button on the control box
The chain will immediately start, and will continue to run until the limit switch, which sits
near the back of the blade, is activated
Once the limit switch is activated, the chain will stop, reverse briefly to remove the next brick
in line, and stop
The bottom blade will then move up, split the brick, move back to its bottom position and stop
The split bricks will slide out through the side chutes, clear the limit switch, and the process
will repeat itself
The splitter will go into sleep mode if not active for a couple of minutes
The start button must be pressed again to reactivate the splitter and start the chain
The splitter is fitted with an overload device
Should it happen that a foreign object jams in between the blades, and it cannot complete its
cycle, the splitter will stop, reverse to the bottom and wait for the object to be removed
Once removed it can be started again

Grease Flange
Bearings Weekly
AINTENANCE
The conveyor chain tentioners at the in feed side of the conveyor can be adjusted to keep the
chains from sagging around the sprockets
Please ensure that the tentioners are properly lined up with the wear strips at the top when
There are only two flange bearings with grease nipples on the drive end of the conveyor
tightening them
They should be greased weekly All other moving parts are fitted with sealed bearings
Inspect the blades on a regular basis to ensure their sharpness
They are made of hardox steel and should be removed from time to time and machined to
retain their shape
The splitter will create a fair amount of dust and loose cement particles
It is recommended that it be cleaned with compressed air on a regular basis, and preferably
no oil or grease on the chains, as it will create grinding paste

SAFETY
The splitter has moving components
Please ensure that no loose clothing is near the chain or splitting mechanism
Never stick your hand in between the blades, unless you are sure the machine is off
As the splitter creates flying particles when splitting bricks, it is recommended that all
operators wear safety glasses
Please ensure that all covers are secure while in operation
