When installing and using thiselectricalequipment,basicsafetyprecautions should

WARNING –All electricalwiringofthe motorinstallation mustbe done byaqualified

electrician inaccordancewithapplicableelectricalcodes.Beforeworkingon anymotor,

be certainthatthesourceof electricalpower isoff atthe mainjunctionbox.

BONDINGWIRE –Upon installation ofthe pump,the motormustbe used withaNo.8

AWG(8.4mm2)solidcopperconductorperNationalElectricCode.The connection

shouldbe fromthe accessiblewireconnectoron the motor toall metalpartsofthe water

garden and toall electricalequipment,metalconduitand metalpiping within5feet

(1.5m)oftheinside wallsofthewater garden,when themotorisinstalled within5feet of

the inside wallsof thewater garden.

NOTE: For electricalconnection,see wiringdiagram onmotorratingplate.

CAUTION: ThisPumpHas Been Evaluated for Use WithWater Only.

WARNINGRisk ofElectricShock –Thispumpissupplied withagroundingconductor

and grounding-type attachmentplug.Toreduce the riskofelectricshock,be certainthat

INSTALLATION & OPERATINGINSTRUCTIONS

GENERAL

YourEvolutionpumphasbeen qualitybuiltand

engineeredtogivemaximumefficiencyunder

normalwaterpumpingconditions.Consultthe

manufacturer for anyotherapplications.

INSTALLATION

I. LOCATION OFPUMP

Forbestpumpperformance,locatethe systemas

closetothe watersourceaspossible.Provide

adequateaccessaround thepumpforinspection

and maintenance.Placepumpon afirmlevel

surface.Pumpneed notbebolted downunless

required bylocalcode.

II. MODELSWITH TRAP

Avoid excessivetighteningofpipeorfittingsinany

areaswherethreadedconnectionsareused.For

NPTthreaded connections,useQuick-Seal Teflon

Thread Sealing Compound,Plasto-JointStick orany

othersealantsformulatedspecificallyfor plastics.

OPERATION

I. STARTING& PRIMINGPUMP

Donotrun unitdry.Alwaysbecertain thatthepump

casingand/ortrapisfilledwithwaterbeforestarting

the unit. Allowareasonableamountoftimefor

priming.Ifpumpwill notstart,orwill notprime,see

troubleshooting sectionofthis manual.

II. MAINTENANCE

The trap basketshouldbe inspected frequentlyand

keptclean.Toavoid damagetothe basket, do not

strikewhen cleaning.Inspecttrap coverO-ring

regularlyandreplaceasnecessary.

CAUTION:Donotremovehairand lintstrainer

lidwhilepumpisrunning orunderpressure!Lid

isheldinplace bylock handles,which can be

removed ortightened byhand.Basketmustbe

keptclearofleaves anddebrisatall times.Keep

motorclean.Insurethatlouvered openings are

free from debrisand obstructions.Overaperiod

oftime,theshaft sealsmaybecomedamaged or

wornandmust be replaced.

III. WINTERIZATION

Topreventdamageduringfreezing conditions,turn

off allelectricalpower. Drainthoroughlyandclean

outanydebris.Protectpumpandmotorfrom

elementsbycovering orifpossible,storein drywell

ventilated room.

MOTOR

Yourpumpis equipped withapermanently

lubricated,maintenance-free, heavy-dutyindustrial

qualitymotorespeciallydesigned towithstand the

heavy-dutyrequirementsofwatergarden

application.Wiringconnection mustagreewith

incoming line voltage.Improperwiring cancause

seriousinjuriesand damagetothe motor, voiding

warranty.(Forwiring instructions,seediagramon

motor rating plate.)

NOTE: Motoris designed towithstand the effectsof

normal rainfall.To increasethe lifeofyourmotor

observethe following:

1.) Donotfloodthemotororsubmergein water. To

do sovoidswarranty.

2.) Provide ample crossventilation,minimumof6”at

all points.

3.) Keep motorand surrounding area clean.

4.) Avoid sweeping orstirring dustnearmotorwhile

it isrunning.

5.) Avoid storingorspilling drychemicals,powders,

etc.nearmotor.

6.) Provide protectionagainst theelements.

7.) Locatemotoron aslightelevation sowaterwill

drain awayfrommotor.

8.) Avoid spillingordripping liquidchemicalsonor

nearmotor.

9.) Avoid splashing waterorhosing area nearmotor.

Waterdamagevoidswarranty.Forreplacements

contactyourlocalsupplierorauthorized

serviceman.

TROUBLESHOOTING

MOTOR WILL NOTSTART:

1.CheckCircuit Breakers

2.Checkforincorrect orloosewireconnections.

3.Makesurethecorrect power supplyisbeing used.

4.Anyon/off switchorpneumatic switchshould beinthe “on”mode.

MOTOR OVERHEATINGAND CYCLINGONAND OFF:

1.Checkforincorrect orloosewireconnections.

2.Checkforlowvoltage supply(frequentlycausedbyundersizedwire).

3.Makesurethemotorgetsafreshair supplyand the ventsarekeptunclogged.

MOTOR MAKES HUMMINGNOISE BUTWILL NOTSTART:

1.Makesuremotorshaft turnsfree.

2.Checkforjammedimpeller or an obstruction in(volute) casing.

3.Checkforlowvoltage and undersized wire.

PUMPS WILL NOTPRIME

1.Makesurepumpisinstalledattheproperlevel andtheplumbinglineshaebeencorrectly installed

toallowthe water toenterpumpfreely.

2.Open aircontrolvalvestoreleaseanypossible airlick.

3.Makesureall suctionanddischarge linesareclearandunobstructed and all valvesareopened.

4.Checkfor air leaksinthesuction line.

LOWWATER FLOW:

1.Checkfilter pressuregauge, filter mayneed cleaning.

2.Checkforcloggedplumbing lines.

3.Checkfor wornordamagedimpeller.

4.Checkforlowvoltage.

WATER LEAKS:

1.Checkcontaminationor damage toshaft rotaryseal. Replaceif necessary.

2.Checkcompressionfitting(union connectors),makesuretheyareproperlyalignedandsecured.

Hand tightenonly. Donot usetools.

3.MakesureO-ringisproperlyseated and notdamaged.

NOISES:

1.Checkplumbing vibration-makesurelinesareadequatelysupported.

2.Checkforcavitations, due toobstruction inorundersized suction line.

IFPUMP LOSES PRIME,OR TOO MANY BUBBLES COME THROUGH RETURN LINE CHECK:

1.Hair andlint pot cover istightand O-ringisinplaceand freefromdefects.

2.Valvesonsuction and returnlinesareworkingproperlyandopen.

3.Water level inwater garden istoo low.

4.Filter O-ring or gasket isinplaceand freefromdefects.

5.All fittingsand connectionsaresecureand air tight.

EVOLUTIONASSEMBLY INSTRUCTIONS

(Including Impellerand SealReplacement)

WARNING:ALWAYS DISCONNECTTHE ELECTRICALPOWER FROMTHE PUMPMOTORBEFORE

PERFORMINGANY WORK ON THE PUMP UNIT.

ToDisassemble Pump:

CAUTION:DRAIN THE WATER FROMTHE PLUMBINGLINES BEFORE DISCONNECTINGTHE PUMP,

ALWAYS PROTECTTHE MOTOR FROMPOSSIBLE WATER DAMAGE.

Removing Suction Cover:

1.Removethecoverbyremovingthescrewssecuring the covertothe volute(casing). Thesescrews

arelocated attheperimeter of the cover.

2.Notetheorientationof the loosewear ring ontheimpellerhubbeforedisassembling.

Removing Impeller:

1.Hold the motorshaftfromrotating asfollows:At the rearofthemotor,insertawide blade

screwdriver in theshaft end slot, or useaneedle nose“visegrip” or plierstohold the shaft between

the motor faceandimpellersleeveopening. Caution: Donotgrip impeller sleeve.

2.Turnthe impellercounterclockwise until it iscompletelyfreefromthe motorshaft thread.

Removing the Volute(Casing) fromthe Motor:

1.Unscrewthe four(4)boltslocated atthe rearofthe motor. Theseboltsextend through theentire

lengthofthe motor intothe4legsof thevolute.

2.Whenthe 4legsofthevolute arecompletelydisengaged fromallthebolts,slide thevoluteoff of

the motorshaft.

Inspecting the Seal:

1.Carefullyexamine thesurfacesofthe carbon disk(black rigid part ofseal rotating assembly,

mounted on impeller) and thewhiteceramicring(atsealstationaryassemblyonvolute)foredge

chipping,surfacescratches,oruneven wear. The surfacesshouldbe smoothand free from

damage.

2.The restofthe seal assemblyshould be free fromcracksandshould fitsnuglywiththeirrespective

mating parts.

3.Usealcoholwipes orisopropylalcohol withclean“lintfree”soft clothtocleanthe carbon diskand

the ceramic ringsurfaceif reusingthe sameassemblies.

NOTE: ITIS ADVISABLETOREPLACE THECOMPLETESEALASSEMBLY(BOTHTHE CERAMIC

AND CARBON SIDES) EVERYTIME THE PUMPIS DISSASSEMBLED.

Removing the Seal Assemblies:

1.Removetheseal rotating assemblyfromtheimpellerbycarefullysliding if off theimpellersleeve.

2.Removethe ceramic ringand rubberbootbyknockingitoutand/orpryingitloosethrough the rear

opening ofthevolute.Besurenottoscratchordamage theceramic surfaceifyou arereusing this

part. Cautionmustbe usedso asnot todamagethe volutewall.

Installing the NewSeal Assemblies:

1.Seal RotatingAssembly: Carbon Disk, Spring, SteelCollar, Rubber ring

a.Beforeinstalling the sealrotating assembly,applywater totheshaft sleeve.

b.Grasptheassemblywiththe carbon diskfacing outward.Insert the impellersleevethrough the

steelcollarside.Using atwisting motion,pushuntilthe steel collartouchesthe baseofthe

sleeve.

2.Seal StationaryAssembly: CeramicRing, Rubber Boot

a.Beforeinstalling the stationaryassembly, applywater totherubberboot’s ribbings.

b.Being careful nottodamagethe ceramic ring surface,pressthe seal assemblysquarelyinto

the seal cavityofthe volute.

Reinstalling the Volute(Casing) tothe Motor:

1.Align the fourboltslocatedatthe rearofthemotor, withthe 4volutelegs.Theseboltsextend

throughtheentirelengthofthemotor, intothelegsof thevolute.

2.Pre-tighten the fourbolts.Makesurethatthe motorshaft isaccuratelylocated in the centerof(not

touching)the ceramicring.

3.Whenthe motorshaft isproperlylocated,tighten the fourboltstosecurethe volutein place.

Reinstalling the Impeller:

1.Hold the motorshaftfromrotating asfollows:At the rearofthemotor,insertawide blade

screwdriver in theshaft end slot, or useaneedle nose“visegrip” or plierstohold the shaft between

the motor faceandimpellersleeveopening.

2.Thread theimpellerclockwiseoverthemotorshaft. Handtightenonly.Makesuretheseal carbon

diskisincontact withceramic ring. Caution: Donotgrip impellersleeve.

3.Reinstallthe wear ring over theimpeller hub incorrect orientation.

Reinstalling the Suction Cover:

1.Inspect the o-ringfordamage. Replaceifnecessary.

2.Properlyinstall the o-ringon thecover beforemounting the cover tothevolute.

3.Covercan be mounted tothevolutein one orientation only.An“aligning”featureis built-in with

eachpart,toensurepropermounting.When properlyaligned, the covershould slide in easily.

4.Securethecovertothevolute withscrews.Tightenallscrewsalternately(crisscrossingthe cover)

toachievepropero-ring compression and coverseating.

5.Rotatethe impellerbyhandtomakesurethat it isrotatingfreely, without anyinterference.

Reconnecting the PumpUnit:

1.Clean the seals,gaskets,oro-rings oftheplumbing connectors.Replaceifcracked,worn,or

damaged.

2.Reconnectthe plumbing linestothe pump. Hand tighten only.

3.Besurethatthepumpunitis secured properlytothe platformorbase,ifapplicable.Tighten the

boltsifnecessary.

4.Reconnectthe power supply.Besurethat allwiresareproperlyand securelyconnected.

CAUTION:BEFORE TURNINGTHE POWER ON, BE SURE THAT:1) THERE IS ANADEQUATE

AMOUNTOFWATER IN THESYSTEM;2) ALL VALVES ARE OPEN TOALLOWWATER

CIRCULATION;3) ALL CONNECTORS AND FITTINGSARE PROPERLYALIGNED AND SECURE.
