Read the operating instructions carefully before putting the appliance into operation and
keeptheinstructionsincludingthewarranty,thereceiptand,ifpossible,theboxwiththe
internal packing. If you give this device to other people, please also pass on the operating
instructions.
Warnings
Caution!
• Toavoidtheriskofreorelectricshock,youshouldnotexposethedevicetorainor
humidity. Do not use the device near water (e.g. bathroom, swimming pool, humid cel-
lars).
• Donotusetheunitinextremelyhot,cold,dusty,ordampplaces.
• Theunitisdesignedsolelyforprivateuseanditsintendedpurpose.Thisunitisnot
designed for commercial use.
• Alwaysinstallbatteriesinthecorrectdirection.
• Whenusinganexternalpoweradapter,connectthepoweradaptertoaproperly
installed wall socket only. Make sure the voltage indicated matches the voltage of
the wall socket. Also make sure that the output current and the polarity of the power
adapter correspond to the specifications of the connected device.

These symbols may be found on the machine and are intended to indicate the following:
The lightning symbol should advise the user of parts in the inside of the device
which carry dangerously high voltage levels.
Thesymbolwithanexclamationmarkshouldadvisetheuserofimportant
operation or maintenance instructions in the accompanying documentation.
Devices bearing this symbol work with a “class 1 laser” for tracing the CD. The
built-insafetyswitchesshouldpreventtheuserbeingexposedtodangerous
laser light, which is invisible to the human eye, when the CD compartment is
opened.

Children and Frail Individuals

Do not allow small children to play with the foil. There is a danger of suffocation!

Special safety information
Caution: This device works with a class 1 laser.
Caution: Not suitable for children under 3 years old. Small parts could be bro-
ken off and be swallowed.

hearing damage. We recommend you select a comfortable volume setting. A low
volume setting will not only save battery power, but also protect your hearing.

• Earspecialistsrecommendthatyoudonotuseheadphonesconstantlyoverlong

when riding a bicycle or when jogging on the street. Adjust the volume to match the

CAUTION:
• Donotusethedeviceinsituationsinwhichyouneedtobeabletohearwithoutany

• Theheadphonesgeneratemagneticeldswhichmayaffectpacemakersand
implanted defibrillators. Keep the device at least 10 cm away from pacemakers or
implanted defibrillators.
Do not keep the headband of the headphones stretched for a long period of time, since
this may weaken the tension of the headband.

Start-up of the device/introduction
• Selectasuitablelocationforthedevice,suchasadry,at,non-slipsurfaceonwhichit
is easy to operate the machine.
• Removetheprotectivelmfromthedisplayifitisstillpresent.
Transport Safety Device, CD Compartment
• OpentheCDcompartmentbyslidingtheOPENbutton(6)inthedirectionofthear-
row.
• Beforeoperatingthemachineforthersttime,removethetransportsafetydevice
from the CD player if it is still in place.
Inserting the Batteries (not supplied)
1. Open the CD compartment by sliding the OPEN button (6) in the direction of the
arrow.
2. Open the cover of the battery compartment inside the CD compartment.
3. Insert 2 batteries of type AA/R6 1.5 V. Please ensure that the polarity is correct (see the
floor of the battery compartment)!
4. Then close the battery lid.
NOTE:
A battery icon on the display will indicate that the battery needs to be replaced.
CAUTION:
• Donotexposebatteriestoextremeheat,suchassunlight,reorsimilar.Thereisa
danger of explosion!
• Batteryacidcanleakfrombatteries.Whennotusingthedeviceforalongerperiod
of time, remove the batteries.
• Non-rechargeablebatteriesshouldnotberecharged.
• Rechargeablebatteriesshouldonlyberechargedunderadultsupervision.
• Rechargeablebatteriesmustberemovedfromthetoybeforerecharging.
• Differentbatterytypesornewandusedbatteriesmustnotbeusedtogether.
• Batteriesmustbeinstalledaccordingtocorrectpolarity.
• Exhaustedbatteriesmustberemovedfromthetoy.
• Batteriesarenottobedisposedoftogetherwithdomesticwastes.Disposeofthe
used batteries at the relevant collection bin or at your dealer’s.
• Thepowerterminalsshouldnotbeshort-circuited.

PHONES Headphone jack (7)
For headphone operation, use the provided headphones and connect them to the head-
phone socket.
Volume
Use the VOLUME buttons (10) to adjust the volume as desired.
Power off
Switch the device off during stop mode by pressing the STOP/POWER OFF button (12)
once.
During playback, press the button twice to switch off the device.
NOTE:
When in stop mode, the device will automatically turn off after 30 seconds without
operation.
ESP function
The device features an anti-shock function. “ESP” appearing in the display indicates the
activated function. In case of problems, the device will be able to read the CD music files
from the fast memory without any problems. Sampling mistakes will be corrected later in
the fast memory.
• PresstheESP/DIRbutton(9)tocancelthefunction.
NOTE:
The ESP function can only be canceled during playback of an audio CD.
BBS function
Intended for enhanced bass playback.
• PresstheBBSbutton(11)toactivatethefunction.“BBS”appearinginthedisplay
indicatesthe activated function.
• Pressthebuttonagaintocancelthefunction.
DC-IN socket (13)
For connecting a power adapter (not included).

Playing CDs/MP3
1. Open the CD compartment by sliding the OPEN button (6) in the direction of the ar-
row.
2. Insert an audio CD with the printed side facing upwards on to the central cone so that
the CD clicks into place and then close the lid of the CD compartment.
3. Press the PLAY/PAUSE button (8) to switch on the device. The ESP memory will
load. “ESP” appearing in the display indicates the activated ESP function.
4. The CD will play from the first title.
5. In order to remove a CD, press the STOP/POWER OFF button (12). Open the CD
compartment and carefully lift the CD up.
Always keep the CD deck closed.
NOTE:
• IfthereisnoCD,orifaCDhasbeeninsertedupsidedown,thedisplaywillshow
““.
• PlaybackofCDsproducedbytheusercannotbeguaranteedduetothelargevariety
of software and CD media available.
Description of the CD buttons
PLAY/PAUSE (8)
You can briefly interrupt and resume playback using this button. The elapsed playback
time will be flashing on the display. Pressing again continues playback.
SKIP+/ SKIP- (4/2)
With SKIP+youcanjumptothenextorprevioustracketc.
• Ifthebuttoniskeptpresseddown,themachinestartstosearchthroughthetracks.
The SKIP- button can be used as follows:
Pressonce= Thisjumpsbacktothebeginningofthecurrenttrack.
Presstwice= Thisjumpsbacktotheprevioustrack.
Pressthreetimes= Thisplaysthesongbeforeetc.Ifthebuttoniskeptpresseddown,
the machine starts to search through the tracks.
STOP/POWER OFF (12)
The playback stops.

During audio CD playback:
Pressonce= “ ” appears in the display. The current track will be played repeat-
edly.
Presstwice= “ ALL” appears in the display. The complete CD will be played
repeatedly.
Pressthreetimes= “RAN”appearsinthedisplay.Allmusictrackswillbeplayedran-
domly.
Pressfourtimes= “INTRO”appearsinthedisplay.Eachmusictrackwillbeplayedfor
10 seconds.
Pressvetimes= Allfunctionswillbecanceledandnormalplaybackwillresume.
Only for playing CDs in MP3 format:
Pressonce= “ ” appears in the display. The current track will be played repeat-
edly.
Presstwice= “ ALL” appears in the display. The complete CD will be played
repeatedly.
Pressthreetimes= “ ALBUM” appears in the display. The current folder of the MP3
CD will be played repeatedly.
Press four times
= “RAN”appearsinthedisplay.Allmusictrackswillbeplayedran-
domly.
Press five times
= “INTRO”appearsinthedisplay.Eachmusictrackwillbeplayedfor
10 seconds.
Presssixtimes= Allfunctionswillbecanceledandnormalplaybackwillresume.
ESP / DIR (9)
If a CD in MP3 format contains folders:
• Repeatedlypressthebuttonduringplaybackinordertoselecttherespectivefolders.
Programmed Play
This can be used to program any desired sequence of tracks.
1. Press the PROG button (5) during stop mode. “01 P-01” and the notification “PGM”
will appear in the display. Use the /buttons (4/2) to select the desired track and
then press the PROG button again. The display changes to memory slot P-02.
For CDs in MP3 format, there is an additional album selection available in the left top
corner of the display. First use the /buttons to select the album and then press the
PROG button again. Then select the desired track as described above.
