1.1 Warning!
Aldecanacceptnoliabilitywhatsoeverfor
damageorinjuryresulngfromfailureto
observetheseinstrucons.
1.2 Specied Use
Theseinstruconsareapprovedforthe
Alde3020CompactHEedincaravans,
motorhomesorbuildingsinaccordancewith
CE0402no.SC0653-13,andhavetheE5mark
forinstallaoninvehiclesinaccordancewith
ECER122,no.00001andR10,no.04166,for
useincentralheangandhotwatersystems.
Thesystemisnotintendedforuseby
persons(includingchildren)withreduced
physical,sensoryormentalcapabilies,orlack
ofexperienceand/orknowledge,unlessthey
havebeengiveninstruconoraresupervised.
Theterm“specieduse”alsocovers
observanceoftheoperang,andinstallaon
andserviceinstrucons(suppliedseparately).
TheAlde3020CompactHEmustbe
installedorrepairedbyacompetentpersonin
accordancewithcurrentlocalregulaons.
Intheunlikelyeventthatyoursystem
developsafault,switchothesystemand
contactAlde,oryourdealerorinstaller.
The owner is always responsible for
maintenance and arranging inspecon.
1.3 System Design
Theboiler’sinternalheatexchangerconsists
ofthreeconcentriccylinders;thecombuson
chamber,thecentralheangcylinderandthe
hotwatercylinder.
Thecombusonchamberismadefrom
aluminium,andisdividedintotwohalvesby
abaeplate,withtheburnerheadlocated
inthetophalf,andtheuegasesvenng
throughtheboomhalf.
Thecombusonassemblyisxedtothe
endoftheinternalheatexchanger.Itconsists
oftheburner,combusonfan,gasvalve,air
intakeandexhaustducts,andgasline.
Twoelectricheangelementsaresealed
insidethecentralheangcylinder,onefor
1kW,onefor2kW.
Theroomthermostatisintegratedinto
thetouchscreencontrolpanelandconnected
totheboilerbyaRegisteredJack(RJ)cable.

2. DESCRIPTION OF FUNCTIONS
2.1 Gas Heang
Whengasheangissettoon,thecombuson
fanstartstorevolve.Oncethecorrectspeed
isachieved(inrpm),asignalissenttothePCB
fortheburnertobelit.Thegasvalveopens,
passinggas,andtheignionmoduleonthe
PCBgeneratessparksattheelectrodeonthe
burnerhead.
Whentheburnerignites,aame
supervisiondevicesignalstheignionmodule
toceasesparking.Theburnerresunlthe
boilerorroomthermostatreachthesetpoint.
Shouldtheburnerameoutunexpectedly,
theFSDdetectsthisandaemptstoreignite
(forabout10seconds),beforeshungdown
andraisingafaultcode.
2.2 Electric Heang
Whenelectricheangissetto1,2or3kW,
relaysonthePCBtrip,feedingthe230V
supplytotheelectricheangelements.These
arecontrolledbythesameprogrammeasthe
gasheang.
2.3 Domesc Hot Water
Thecombi-typeboilerautomacallyproduces
hotwater.Heatisemiedfromthecentral
heangcylinderintothehotwatercylinder.
Ifthehotwatercylinderisempty,theairis
heatedbutnodamagecanresult.
TIP!
Listencarefullytotheignion
sequenceoftheboiler.You
shouldhearthewhirlofthe
combusonfan,theclunkofthe
gasvalveandtheck-ckofthe
ignionmodule.
TIP!
Inagoodsummer,forexample,
lowerthedesiredtemperature
onthecontrolpaneltoaround
10°C.Thecentralheang
willnotcirculate(unlessthe
temperaturedropsto10°C),but
youwillsllhavehotwater.

Theboilermustnotbeswitched
onifthereisnoheattransferuid
(HTF)inthesystem.
Alwaysdraindownthefreshwater
systemifthereisriskoffrost;
inwinter,forexample.Youmay
connuetousetheboilerwith
nofreshwaterinthesystem,as
required;nodamagecanresult.
AlwaysreplacetheHTFin
accordancewiththeanfreeze
product’slifespan.Ifinanydoubt,
replacetheHTFaer2years.
Onlysterilisethefreshwater
systemwithaproductsuitablefor
stainlesssteel.
Donotplacestowageintheboiler
compartment.
Donotposionawnings,tentsor
otherenclosuresaroundtheue
terminal.
Donotobstructtheue.Becareful
nottooodtheuewhenwashing
thevehicle.
Thegasheangmustnotbeused
whenrefuellingthevehicleatthe
servicestaonorotherfuelling
facility.

Beingacombi-typeboiler,theAlde3020
CompactHEhasanintegrated,stainless
steelhotwatercylinderthatholds
approximately8.4litresoffreshwater.
Theboilercanproducearound12
litresof40°Cwarmwaterper30mins(at
acoldwatertemperatureof10°C).Ifonly
theelectricheangisused,thiscapacityis
slightlyreduced.
Onlyusepotablefreshwater.Grey
water,desalinatedwater,orwaterotherwise
unttodrinkisnotsuitableforuseas
domeschotwater.
Alwaysushoutthehotwatercylinder
beforeuse,especiallywhenithasstood
emptyforsomeme.
Targethotwatertemperatureisgreater
than50°Cinnormaloperaon,toprevent
thegrowthofLegionella.Over50°C,the
hotwaterwillbeheatedtothemaximum
achievabletemperatureattheme.This
allowsthehotwatertoachievedisinfecon
temperatures,andincreaseswarmwater
performance.
Ifscaldinghotwatertemperaturesarea
concern–suchaswiththeyoung,elderlyor
inrm–thermostacmixingvalves(TMVs)
canbeed,andmayberequiredbylocal
regulaons.
Avoidsteriliserproductscontaining
sodiumhyperchlorite,forexample,asthese
willcauseseverecorrosiondamagetothe
hotwatercylinder,andisnotcoveredunder
warranty.Readtheproductlabelorcontact
theproductmanufacturerfordetails.
Whenthehotwatercylinderisin
connuoususe,itshouldbedrainedand
relledonceamonth.Thisrecreatesthe
aircushioninthehotwatercylinderthat
absorbspressuresurges.
IMPORTANT!
Anysteriliserproductsshouldbe
suitableforusewithstainlesssteel.
IMPORTANT!
Alwaysdraindownandcompletely
emptythehotwatercylinder
whenthereisriskoffrost,unless
thevehicleisexplicitlystatedto
beself-winterisingbythevehicle
manufacturer.
TIP!
Ifconnuouslyusingthehot
watercylinderinahardwater
area,taninlinescaleinhibitorto
minimisetheeectsoflimescale.

3.1 Draining Fresh Water
1. Switchothewaterpump.
2. Openallwatertaps,showers,etc.
3. Openthesafety/drainvalvebyliingthe
yellowtab(Fig1[M]),orbyturningthe
blueknob(Fig1[K])90°.
4. Thesystemwilldraindirectlybelowthe
vehiclethroughtheclearplaschoseon
thesafety/drainvalve.Checkthatallwater
hasempedout(7–10litres).Leavethe
valveintheopenposionunlthenext
methehotwatercylinderisused.
NB:Checkthattheredbreathervalve
(Fig1[N])isallowingairtoenterthehot
watercylinder,whenitisbeingdrained,and
thattheclearplaschoseisnotobstructed.

4. HEAT TRANSFER FLUID
Thecentralheangsystemmustbelled
withheattransferuid(HTF);asoluonof
50%ethyleneglycolanfreezeandwater.
Theanfreezemanufacturerwillhavea
maximumwaterhardnessrecommendaon.
Readtheproductlabelorcontactthe
productmanufacturerfordetails.
50:50ethyleneglycolanfreezeand
waterwillprotectagainstfrostdownto
-35–-37°C.Arefractometerand/or
hydrometercanbeusedtomeasurethe
strengthoftheanfreezesoluon.
Corrosionproteconwillvarydepending
onthelifespanoftheanfreeze.Read
theproductlabelorcontacttheproduct
manufacturerfordetails.
Thecorrosioninhibitorsfoundin
ethyleneglycolanfreezemaynotbe
cross-compable.Whentoppingupor
replacingtheHTF,ensurethenewanfreeze
iscompablewiththecurrentanfreeze
product.Readtheproductlabelorcontact
theproductmanufacturerfordetails.
FailuretollwithsuitableHTFmayresult
inseveredamagetoyourAldesystem,andis
notcoveredunderwarranty.
IMPORTANT!
Theboilermustnotbeswitched
onifthereisnoHTFinthesystem.
IMPORTANT!
AlwaysreplacetheHTFin
accordancewiththeanfreeze
product’slifespan.Ifinanydoubt,
replacetheHTFaer2years.

4.1 Filling
ThecentralheangsystemislledwithHTF
throughtheexpansiontank,eitherbyhand,or
usingtheAldeservicepump.Anycontainers
usedforhandlingorstoringtheHTFshould
becheckedrst,andmustbevisiblyclean
toavoidintroducingcontaminantsorforeign
objectsintothesystem.
AlderecommendsusingtheAlde
1900-811or839twin-motorservicepumpto
llthesystem.
Tollthesystembyhand,unscrewthe
expansiontankcap(Fig2[R]),andlithe
circulaonpump(Fig2[S])outofthetank(if
applicable).CarefullypourtheHTFintothe
tank,andrepeatunltheuidlevelisabout1
cmabovetheMINmarkwhencold.
4.2 Draining
Theinstallershouldtoneormoredrainsin
thecentralheangsystemtoallowdraining
oftheHTF.
Becausethepipesstepupanddown,
someHTFwillbeleinthesystemaer
draining.

5. CENTRAL HEATING
Theboilerissettoanupperlimittemperature
of85°C,i.e.thetemperatureoftheheat
transferuid(HTF)asitcirculatesaroundthe
pipes,radiators,convectors,etal.
Toensurethebestperformancefrom
hydronicheang,airmustbeabletocirculate
freelyaroundthebackofthefurniture(Fig3).
Airvents,cutintothetopandboomofthe
furnituremustbeunobstructedbycarpets,
cushions,orstowage,etc.
Thefulllengthofaconvectorshouldbe
venlatedforbestperformance.

Thisclassicpumpisideallysuitedfor
tradionalholiday-makers,orasalighter
duty,o-gridoponforthe230Vinline
circulaonpump.
• 12Vinlinecirculaonpump.Thisheavy

full-memotorcamping.
• 230Vinlinecirculaonpump.Thisheavy
dutypumpispowereddirectlybymains
electric,suitableforseasonalpitches.
TIP!
Usegasandelectricheang
simultaneouslyforthebest
performance.Theboilerwillonly
useasmuchenergyasisneeded,
andis93%ecientonaSEDBUK
basedtest.
5.1 Circulaon Pump
ApumpisusedtocirculatetheHTFaround
thecentralheangsystem.Therearethree
modelsofAldecirculaonpump.
