ELECTRIC
The EF comes complete with a generous supply of 3 core cable,
however, should any additional cable be required then the use of an
approved waterproof cable connector is essential.
Please Ensure:
The power supply must be earthed and fused at 3amps.
Regularly inspect the cable for damage and deterioration.
Consult a qualified electrician if in doubt about any aspects of wiring.
The EF should never be run dry as this will cause the unit to
overheat and cause permanent damage.
Do not attempt to modify this unit in any way and only use the
recommended parts for replacement.

INSTALLATION AND USE
Attach the EF tap to the filter head, pull up the tap handle to allow
insertion (1), push the tap into the head tap area (2), fasten the tap
in place using the tap handle (3).
Unclamp all four head and body clips and separate the filter head
from the filter body.
Wash through all of the filter media until the water runs clear to
avoid it releasing excess media powder / dust into your tank.
Fill the EF ¾ full with aquarium water.
Reassemble the filter head to the filter body.
Ensure all four head and body clips are firmly shut.
Check that the EF tap is shut to avoid leakage (lever down), and
ensure your pipework is setup similar to the set-up diagram below.

MAINTENANCE
We recommend that a regular cleaning and maintenance schedule is
followed to ensure responsible fishkeeping. Depending on water
volume and stocking levels, regular cleaning of the filter media,
foams, impeller, inlet/outlet pipework during a 10-25% water change
will help ensure that the product works efficiently and the aquarium
remains healthy.
Impeller and Shaft
To access the impeller and shaft:
Pull up the EF tap handle to shut off the water flow to the EF, pull
the EF tap away from the filter head.
3
2
1
Unclamp all four head and body clips and separate the filter head
from the filter body.
Twist and remove the impeller cap located on the underside of the
filter head and gently remove the impeller and shaft.
Filter Media
We recommend installing the supplied filter media in the
following order: ceramic rings in the bottom basket, bio balls in the
middle basket and activated carbon in the top basket.
Check the condition of the impeller and shaft and clean using your
aquarium water. Clean inside the impeller housing and ensure the
shaft rubbers are in place at both
ends before replacing.
If the impeller and shaft have
visible damage contact your local
retailer to purchase replacements.
Reverse the above steps to replace.
Ceramic rings and Bio balls are long lasting media and can be rinsed
clean with aquarium water as part of a regular cleaning schedule.
EFX
We recommend replacing Activated carbon at least every 3-6 months.

TROUBLESHOOTING
No Motor Operation
Check power supply is connected and turned on.

Priming Problems
If air remains trapped in the system after initial setup, please
restart the process and follow these guidelines:
4
Check all hosing and pipework is connected correctly, air tight
and unrestricted.
Reinsert the Inlet / Outlet tap (part 1) to be sure it is securely
installed and set to open (lever down).
Ensure all Inlet / Outlet pipework connection points are fully
submerged whilst priming.
Fill the EF filter body (part 5) with aquarium water, this will aid
the priming of the EF.
Prime the EF without the surface skimmer (part 15) attached
– this can be re-attached after priming.
Ensure the EF filter body (part 5) is not over stocked with media
and foam as this can restrict water flow and affect the priming
function.
