1 General information
1.1 Short description
The controller IF-4070 serves as the connecting link between a maximum of 16 Interflex readers for time
& attendance recording or access control. Eight integrated relays and eight input contacts allow for the
control and monitoring of doors, for example. The controller is available in four different versions which
support two, four, eight or sixteen terminals.

1.5 Safety
WARNING
Danger to life due to electric shock
People can be seriously hurt or killed through physical contact with live parts (e.g. 230V~).
uMake sure that you cannot touch live lines during installation.
uSwitch off the power supply of the devices.
uPlease observe the applicable safety regulations and take all precautionary measures to ensure safe
installation.
NOTICE
Property damage due to transient overvoltages
Transient overvoltages (surges, bursts) in the energy supply network can lead to malfunctions and
failures.
uUse suitable mains filters that are professionally installed and operated.
NOTICE
Damage due to electrostatic discharge (ESD)
Electrical components and modules can be damaged by only slight, hardly noticeable electrostatic
discharge (ESD) without this becoming immediately obvious. ESD damages result in malfunctions and
even failure of the product.
uMake sure that effective protective measures against electrostatic discharge are in place when
working on the open device.

2.1 Range of functions
Main functions of the If-407x controller:
Field of Application
The controllers are operated with the IF6020 or IF6040 host system and control up to 16 Interflex readers
for time & attendance recording or access control that are distributed among three RS485 interfaces. The
controllers check the booking data from the readers and transfer it to the host system in real-time.
Furthermore, they control the booking conditions and display texts of the readers.
Offline mode
Data required for offline operation (e.g., credential numbers, temporal and local permissions) is stored in
the controller via the host system. Thus, the data is always up-to-date even if the connection to IF-6020
and IF-6040 is interrupted and can be checked by the controller in offline mode.
Control and Monitoring
For controlling and monitoring doors, for example, the IF-4070 controller is equipped with digital inputs for
the connection of door contacts or other sensors and output relays with a switching capacity of up to 30
V/ 2 A. Thus, external devices can also be controlled. The input sensors can be configured as indicator,
event, or counting contacts (up to max. 20 Hz).

3 Mounting the controller
NOTICE
Damage to property due to manipulation of the controller
Manipulation of the controller can lead to data loss.
uInstall the controller in the secured area, taking the technical requirements into account
With the two enclosed housing brackets, you can mount the controller into a 19” cabinet.
1Housing bracket 2Angle bracket
The illustration shows the installation with housing brackets 1 in a 19” cabinet. The angle brackets 2
allow the controller to be pulled out and hooked into the rack, e.g. to connect cables.
You can also mount the controller onto a wall using the device brackets. Without brackets, the
device can also be placed on a tabletop or even stacked.
