operatingconditionstowhichthevehicleorequipmentwillbesubjectedandto
communicatetheappropriatemeansforpreventingunintendedvehicleorequipment
movementwithinthoseconditions,inordertoensurevehicleorequipmentsafety
andoperatorsafety.Thevehicleorequipmentownerandoperatorshouldbeaware
ofandfollowthemanufacturer'soperatinginstructionsandwarningsrelatedto
parkingandpreventingunintendedvehicleorequipmentmovement.
Properserviceandrepairisimportanttothesafeandreliableoperationofthe
equipment.TheserviceproceduresrecommendedbyAllisonTransmission(orthe
manufacturer)anddescribedinthismanualareeffectivemethodsforperforming
serviceanddiagnosticoperations.Someproceduresrequireusingspecially
designedtools.Usespecialtoolswhenandinthemannerrecommended.

aretobetreatedashazardouswaste.Theseuidsaretobeseparated
anddiscardedpercurrentlocalstatutes/regulationsforthepurposeof
recycling,treatment,storage,and/ordisposal.
2.Oilsoakedcomponents(e.g.,lters,seals,clutchpacks,etc.)aretobe
treatedashazardouswasteandaretobehandledanddiscardedper
currentlocalstatutes/regulations.
3.Exhaustedelectroniccomponents(e.g.,transmissioncontrolmodules
(TCM),pressureswitches,speedsensors,etc.)aretobetreatedas

ITISYOURRESPONSIBILITYTOBEFAMILIARWITHALLOFTHEM.
•Whenstartingtheengine,makesuretheservicebrakes
areapplied.Failuretoapplyservicebrakesmayresultin
unexpectedvehiclemovement.
•Ifyouleavethevehicleandtheengineisrunning,thevehicle
canmoveunexpectedlyandyouorotherscouldbeinjured.If
youmustleavetheenginerunning,DONOTLEAVEthevehicle
untilyouhavecompletedallofthefollowingprocedures:
•PutthetransmissioninN(Neutral).
•Besuretheengineisatlowidle(500–800rpm).
•Applytheparkingandemergencybrakesandmakesure
theyareproperlyengaged.
•Chockthewheelsandtakeotherstepsnecessarytokeep
thevehiclefrommoving.
•Thevehicleservicebrakes,parkingbrake,oremergencybrake
mustbeappliedwheneverN(Neutral)isselectedtoprevent
unexpectedvehiclemovement.SelectingN(Neutral)doesnot
applythevehiclebrakesunlessanauxiliarysystemtoapply
theparkingbrakeisinstalledbytheOEM.
•Usingtheretarderonwetorslipperyroadsmaycauseloss
oftractiononthedrivewheels—yourvehiclemayslideout
ofcontrol.Tohelpavoidinjuryorpropertydamage,turnthe
retarderenabletoOFFwhendrivingonwetorslipperyroads.
