Thissection provides you with the setup procedures to easily connect the 8008
BalancedAmplifierto yoursystem.
GeneralPrecautions
. Neverallow the speakercable termination'sto touch at eitherthe back of the amplifieror
the speakerterminals.Alwaysturnoff the 8008Balancedwhen connecting ormoving your
loudspeakers.
. Your8008Balanced Isdesignedto be free standing,placed on (;Inaudio rack or stacked
with other components.
. Alwaysbe sureto provideenoughspace (at least1'/2Inches)at the top and the rearof the
8008Balancedto allowsufficientairflow throughthe ventilationslots. Failureto do thiswill
causeseveredamage to the unit.
. Neverplace your8008Balanceddirectlyoncarpet. Alwaysplace on a hardflat surfaceto
allowfar properventilation.
SETUPWITHAN AUDIO SYSTEM
1. PREPARAnON
Before hooking up your 8008Balanced you must decide if you will use the single ended or
balanced Inputs. either may be used with similar performance. Your 8008 Balanced was
shipped to you with a jumper between pins 1and 3 on both of the XLRconnectors. Touse
the amplifier in single ended (RCA Inputs) mode. leave the jumper in place on both XLR
connectors. To use the amplifier In balanced (XLRinputs) mode. remove the jumper on
both XLRconnectors. For proper set up refer to figure 3 on the previous page of this
manual.
Pleasenote that the followingInstructionsreferto connectionfor the left and rightchannels
Ina stereosystem.Ina hometheatre systema single8008Balanced may be usedfor any
two channelsof the system.Thesameproceduresapply.
2. INPUT CONNECT10N
Usingappropriate cables(RCAorXLR).connect yourvariableoutput source(preamp. D\A
converter. surroundsound processor.etc.) to the correspondingleft and right channel
Inputsonthe back of your8008Balanced.ConsultyourauthorizedAragon dealerfor hisor
herrecommendationsoncables.speakerwireand bl-wiring.
3. OUTPUTCONNECT10N
Beforeconnecting your8008Balancedto the loudspeakersmakesurethat the power Isoff.
Youramplifierisequipped with dual five-way binding posts. Theseare very convenient
when bl-wiringyour speakers. Eitherset of postsmay be usedwhen not bl-wiring. Using
appropriate speakercable (14GA minimuminshortrunsand 12GA Inlong runsover 25ft.)
connect the left channel "-" output from the 8008Balanced to the "-" Input of the left
speaker.Connecttheleftchannel"+"outputfromthe8008Balancedto the"+" inputofthe
leftspeaker. Repeatthisprocedureforthe rightspeakerconnections. ItIsveryimportantto
makesure.+"'5to "+"and "-"Isto "-".
4. POWERCONNECTION
Plugthe A/C powercord Intothe back of your8008Balancedand then into yourA/C wall
outlet.
