IMPORTANT SAFETY INSTRUCTIONS
WARNING – To guard against injury, basic safety precautions should be
observed, including the following:
READ AND FOLLOW ALL SAFETY INSTRUCTIONS
DANGER – To avoid possible electric shock, special care should be taken
since water is employed in the use of aquarium equipment. For each
of the following situations, do not attempt repairs by yourself; return
the appliance to an authorised service facility for service or discard the
appliance, to avoid hazards:
1. If the appliance falls into the water, DO NOT reach for it! First unplug
it and then retrieve it. If electrical components of the appliance get
wet, unplug the appliance immediately.
2. If the appliance shows any sign of water leakage, immediately
unplug it from the power source.
3. Carefully examine the appliance after installation. It should not be
plugged in if there is water on parts not intended to get wet.
4. Do not operate any appliance if it has a damaged cord or plug, or if
is malfunctioning or has been dropped or damaged in any manner.
5. To avoid the possibility of the appliance plug or socket getting wet,
position the aquarium stand and tank to one side of a wall mounted
socket to prevent water from dripping onto the socket or plug.
A “drip loop” should be arranged by the user for each cord
connecting an aquarium appliance to a socket. The “drip loop” is
that part of the cord below the level of the socket, or the connector if
an extension cord is used, to prevent water travelling along the cord
and coming in contact with the socket. See illustration 1
Close supervision is necessary when any appliance is used by or near
children.
Always unplug an appliance from an outlet when not in use, before
putting on or taking off parts, and before cleaning. Never pull on the cord
to remove the plug from the socket. Instead, grasp the plug and pull to
disconnect.
Do not use this luminaire other than for the intended use. The use of non-
Arcadia attachments or accessories is not recommended, and may cause
an unsafe condition.

Do not install or store the appliance where it will be exposed to the weather
or temperatures below freezing.
Make sure the luminaire is mounted securely on the tank before operating it.
Read and observe all the important notices on the appliance.
DO NOT SUBMERGE ANY PART OF THIS LUMINAIRE!

Lamp Installation
Your luminaire is not supplied with a lamp.We recommend that the relevant
wattage and colour Arcadia lamp is used. Please ensure that the correct
wattage lamp is used.
Unplug the luminaire before installing the lamp.
To install a lamp:
- unscrew the ring from each Ultra Seal® lampholder
- fit the rings onto either end of the lamp as shown in illustration 2
- align pins on lamp to the lampholder holes and insert the lamp by pushing
the lamp directly into the lampholder (see illustration 2).
- screw the rings tightly onto the lampholder body. Do not twist the lamp
within the lampholder (see illustration 3).
The ring is fully tightened when there is no gap between the ring and the
body (see illustration 4 & 5).
Ensure that the ring is not cross-threaded (see illustration 6).
To remove the lamp, switch off and unplug the supply, undo the ring from
the lampholder body and pull the lamp directly out from the lampholder. Do
not twist the lamp in any way (see illustration 7).
Never use this Ultra Seal® controller without lamps in place.
NOT SUITABLE FOR USE WITH UVC LAMPS.
Physical Installation
Select a suitable site close to your electricity supply. Always place the
controller on it’s base in an upright position (see illustration 8).
Place the controller on a firm surface and NOT on carpets or similar fabric
surfaces.
Fitting the mounting brackets:
Use suitable fixings for the mounting surface. For mounting dimensions,
refer to illustration 9.
The mounting bracket is suitable for a vertical or horizontal mounting
surface - please ensure that the lampholder cable and insulation remain
unstressed, (see illustration 10, 11 & 12).
Do not mount directly to the aquarium glass.

When mounting, the lamps, lampholders or cable must not sit closer than
15mm to the water level (see illustration 13). Please ensure that the
lamp cables are positioned so that they cannot be damaged.
The luminaire is only suitable for indoor use, and must only be used with an
aquarium, vivarium or avairy.
The luminaire should be kept dry, ventilated and away from other heat
sources.
The controller box must be situated away from the aquarium with only the
lampholders in the vicinity of water.
Make sure that all the light from the luminaire is solely aimed into the
aquarium, vivarium or avairy. Do not allow the light to spill out, as viewing
of some lamps directly could be harmful to the human eye if viewed for
more than a few minutes.

Double Insulation
Luminaires suitable for direct mounting on flammable surfaces
Watertight (immersible) - only lampholders, when fitted with the correct
lamp
Although the Ultra Seal® lampholders are waterproof, when correctly
assembled, they must not be submerged in water.
The controller body is IP20, and must not come into contact with water.
WARNING - Before operation, you must ensure that the lampholders are
securely fastened to your tank hood, or other part of the aquarium so that
the lamp is stable on top of the tank and cannot fall in.
Electrical installation
This unit must be protected by a suitable fuse.
Before installing, ensure that the rated voltage and frequency of the
luminaire match that of your supply, and that the mains lead plug is fully
compatible with your mains sockets. If in doubt, please return the unit to
the point of purchase to verify.

Trouble shooting
If the luminaire does not light:
Check that the mains power is connected and switched on both at the wall
and at the switch on the controller body.
Check that the luminaire is rated for the same supply voltage that you
are using.
Check that the lamp is of the correct wattage and type for the luminaire.
Check that the lamps are installed correctly.
Check that the starter is working (will require replacement from time to
time). The starter switch in the top of the Ultra Seal® controller has a
simple twist fit mechanism.
Check the fuses in the mains supply.
If the lamp still fails to light, replace the lamp (always replace the starter at
the same time).
Maintenance
The luminaire can get warm. Allow adequate time for it to cool before
attempting any maintenance.
CAUTION! Disconnect the mains lead of the luminaire before putting your
hands in the water or opening the luminaire for maintenance.
If the mains lead of this luminaire is damaged, it should be exclusively
replaced by the manufacturer, his service agent or a similar qualified person
in order to avoid a hazard.
This appliance has no user serviceable parts.
Cleaning:
Always clean the luminaire when it is disconnected from the supply, and it
is cool.
Both the appearance and performance of your luminaire can benefit from
regular cleaning.
A damp cloth is normally adequate to clean the lampholders and lamp.
Excessive salt deposits can be removed with a wet cloth.
Only use the recommended lamp type for the purchased unit.

AVERTISSEMENT – Pour éviter toute blessure, des précautions de
sécurité de base doivent être observées, y compris les suivantes.
LISEZ ET SUIVEZ TOUTES LES INSTRUCTIONS DE SECURITE
DANGER – Afin d’éviter une possible décharge électrique, soyez
particulièrement prudent, les équipements pour aquariums fonctionnant
au contact de l’eau. Dans chacune des situations suivantes, ne tentez
pas de faire les réparations vous-même ; retournez l’appareil auprès
d’un service après-vente agréé ou jetez-le:
1. Si l’appareil tombe dans l’eau, NE PAS le toucher ! Débranchez-le
avant de le récupérer. Dans le cas où les composants électriques
entrent en contact avec l’eau, débranchez l’appareil tout de suite.
2. En cas de fuite anormale d’eau, débranchez l’appareil tout de suite
3. Inspectez soigneusement l’appareil après son installation. Ne le
branchez pas si vous remarquez de l’eau sur des parties qui doivent
rester sèches.
4. N’utilisez aucun appareil en cas de détérioration d’un fil ou d’une
prise, de mauvais fonctionnement, de chute ou de toute autre
dommage.
5. Afin de protéger la prise ou le socle d’alimentation de l’eau,
positionnez le support du bac et le bac lui-même du côté du mur
où le socle d’alimentation est installé.Pour chaque fil reliant un
aquarium à un socle d’alimentation, créez un anneau d’écoulement.
Cet anneau est la partie du fil situé en dessous du niveau du socle
(ou du connecteur dans le cas d’une rallonge), empêchant ainsi l’eau
de voyager le long du fil et de rentrer en contact avec le socle.
Soyez très vigilant lorsque l’appareil est utilisé par ou près des enfants.
Débranchez toujours un appareil quand il est hors service, avant d’y
ajouter ou d’y enlever des pièces, et avant de le nettoyer. Ne tirez jamais
sur le fil pour débrancher; plutôt, tenez la prise et tirez.

N’utilisez pas ce luminaire pour d’autres intentions que celle qui lui a été
donnée. L’emploi d’accessoires non-Arcadia n’est pas recommandé et peut
engendrer des conséquences dangereuses.
Ne pas installer ou entreposer l’appareil là il sera exposé aux changements
de temps ou à des températures en dessous de zéro.
Assurez-vous que le luminaire est bien monté sur le bac avant de l’utiliser.
Lisez et suivez scrupuleusement toutes les instructions importantes sur
l’appareil.
NE JAMAIS IMMERGER CE LUMINAIRE, NI AUCUNE DE SES PIÈCES !
CONSERVEZ CES INSTRUCTIONS
Installation des lampes
Votre luminaire est fourni sans lampe. Nous recommandons l’usage de
lampes Arcadia de la puissance et la couleur appropriées. Assurez-vous
surtout de la bonne puissance.
Débranchez le luminaire avant d’installer la lampe.
Pour installer une lampe:
- dévisser l’anneau de chaque douille Ultra Seal®
- ajuster les anneaux sur chaque extrémité de la lampe, selon
l’illustration 2.
- alignez les fiches de la lampe avec les trous de la douille et insérez la
lampe, en la poussant tout droit dans la douille (voir figure 2).
- Poussez la lampe directement dans la douille et vérifiez que les fiches de la
lampe soient bien alignées aux trous du terminal.
- visser solidement les anneaux à la douille.
Ne pas tordre la lampe (voir l’illustration 3).
L’anneau est complètement serré lorsqu’il n’y a aucun écart entre l’anneau
et la douille (voir l’illustration 4 & 5).
Veillez à ne pas déformer le filetage de l’anneau (voir figure 6).
Pour enlever la lampe, éteignez et mettez l’unité hors tension, dévissez
la bague et retirez la lampe tout droit de la douille, tout en évitant de la
tourner (voir figure 7).
Ne jamais utiliser ce contrôleur Ultra Seal® avant d’installer des lampes.
INCOMPATIBLE AVEC LES LAMPES UVC.
Installation physique
Choisissez un emplacement approprié près de votre alimentation réseau.
Placez toujours l’appareil sur son socle en position verticale (voir figure 8).
Placez-le sur du dur, JAMAIS sur un tapis ou une surface similaire.

Fixation des supports de montage:
Utilisez des attaches convenables à la surface de montage. Voir la figure 9 pour
les dimensions de montage.
Le support peut être monté sur une surface verticale ou horizontale. Assurez-
vous qu’il n’y a pas de charge sur le câble de la douille ou l’isolation (voir
figures 10, 11 et 12).
Ne pas montez directement sur le verre du bac.
En installant la lampe, les douilles et le câble ne doivent pas se trouver à moins
de 15mm du niveau de l’eau (voir figure 13). Assurez-vous que la position des
câbles évitera tout risque d’avarie.
Le réflecteur n’est conçu que pour un usage intérieur et doit être uniquement
placé au-dessus d’un aquarium ou d’un vivarium.
Le réflecteur doit rester sec et être situé dans un endroit ventilé, à l’écart
d’autres sources de chaleur.
Il faut placer la boîte du contrôleur à l’écart du bac ; ne placez que les douilles à
proximité de l’eau.
Assurez-vous que la totalité de la lumière émise par le réflecteur est dirigée
vers l’intérieur de l’aquarium. Il faut éviter les fuites de lumière à l’extérieur de
l’aquarium : l’exposition directe aux rayons peut causer de graves dommages
oculaires en quelques minutes.
Spécifications techniques
Pour toute information électrique, consultez la plaque signalétique sur l’appareil.
Isolation double
Réflecteurs convenables au montage sur les surfaces inflammables
Seules les douilles équipées d’une lampe correcte sont étanches à l’eau
(peuvent être innondées).
Si les douilles Ultra Seal ® sont bien montées, elles sont étanches aux
projections d’eau, mais elles ne doivent pas être inondées.
La coque du contrôleur est IP20 et ne doit pas entrer en contact avec de l’eau.
ATTENTION : Avant d’opérer le réflecteur, assurez-vous que les douilles sont
bien attachées au capot ou suffisamment fixées au mur du bac pour stabiliser le
réflecteur et l’empêcher de tomber dans l’eau.
Installation électrique
L’appareil doit être équipé d’un fusible approprié.
Avant d’installer le réflecteur, assurez-vous que les caractéristiques assignées
de la puissance et des fréquences sont compatibles avec ceux de votre réseau
alimentation, et que la prise du câble principal est tout à fait compatible avec
vos prises de courant.Au cas de doute, veuillez retourner l’appareil au vendeur
pour vérification.
