before proceeding with installation.
INSTALLATION OF THIS FITTING MUST BE
CARRIED OUT BY A QUALIFIED ELECTRICIAN.
This product is suitable for permanent outdoor
use.
WARNING: Before attempting any installation or
maintenance, ensure that the electrical supply
is switched off and the fuse removed or the
circuit breaker is in the “off” position.
Do not mount the Floodlight near flammable
surfaces, as the lamp body gets extremely hot.
Do not position the Floodlight closer than one
metre from surface to be illuminated.
Do not touch the fitting whilst it is in operation -
the fitting will become very hot.
The maximum rating of this floodlight is 250W
each tube.
MOUNTING THE FITTING
Attach the mounting bracket onto wall or
other vertical surface in desired position.
The mounting bracket must be installed
running horizontally.
Filament life will be reduced considerably if
the fitting is mounted on an angle.
WIRING
1. Remove the terminal cover and feed the
cable through the cable gland.
2. Tighten the cable gland to ensure a
waterproof seal.
3. Wire the unit in accordance with Fig. 2.
4. Check that all connections are correct
and tight.
5. Refit the terminal cover.
6. Form a drip loop in the cable to prevent
moisture running into the cable gland.
7. The Floodlight must be earthed.

WARRANTY
Arlec guarantees this product in accordance with the Australian
Consumer Law.
Arlec also warrants to the original first purchaser of this product
(“you”) from a retailer that this product will be free of defects in
materials and workmanship for a period of 12 months from the date
of purchase; provided the product is not used or installed other than
for the purpose, or in a manner not within the scope of the
recommendations and limitations, specified by Arlec, is new and
not damaged at the time of purchase, has been properly installed by
a licensed electrician or contractor who is licensed to install
electrical products in the place in which the product was installed
and in accordance with Arlec’s installation instructions, has been
maintained in accordance with the recommendations specified by
Arlec, has not been subjected to abuse, misuse, neglect or damage,
has not been modified or repaired without the approval of Arlec and
has not been used for, or installed in premises which are used for,
commercial purposes (“Warranty”).
If you wish to claim on the Warranty, you must, at your own
expense, return the product or that part of the product which you
believe is defective in materials and workmanship, and provide
proof of original purchase, your name, address and telephone
number and a certificate of installation or other document required
by law for the installation of electrical products in the place in
which the product was installed issued by the licensed electrician
or contractor who installed the product, to Arlec at the address
below within 12 months from the date of purchase. Please note that
the Warranty does not cover removal or re-installation of the
product or that part of the product which you believe is defective.
Arlec will assess any claim you may make on the Warranty in the
above manner and if, in Arlec’s reasonable opinion, the Warranty
applies, Arlec will at its own option and expense replace the
product (or part of the product) with the same or similar product (or
part of the product) or repair the product (or part of the product) and
return it to you or refund the price you paid for the product. Arlec
will bear its own expenses of doing those things, and you must bear
any other expenses of claiming on the Warranty.
The Warranty is in addition to other rights and remedies you may
have under a law in relation to the product to which the Warranty
relates.
Our goods come with guarantees that cannot be excluded under
the Australian Consumer Law. You are entitled to a replacement or
refund for a major failure and for compensation for any other
reasonably foreseeable loss or damage. You are also entitled to
have the goods repaired or replaced if the goods fail to be of
acceptable quality and the failure does not amount to a major
failure.
FITTING THE TUNGSTEN
HALOGEN TUBES
The tungsten halogen tubes supplied are packed
separately to avoid damage. Open the Floodlight
housing by removing the front cover screws. The
glass front of the housing will hinge forward and
down.
Insert the tubes in the holders ensuring that you do
not touch the glass envelope of the tube with bare
hands. Use the tube wrapper to handle the tube. Oils
from the hands can cause the tube to fail or shatter.
If necessary, the tube should be carefully cleaned
with methylated spirits and dried before installation.
Do not attempt to adjust or force the tube holder with
tools, but carefully push the tube into the holder
contacts. Reassemble the Floodlight housing.
(Maximum 250 watt Tungsten Halogen tube in each
lampholder).
DO’S AND DON’TS
Extreme care should be taken when installing and
operating the Floodlight. Please observe the following
do’s and don’ts to ensure safe
and trouble free use:
DO ensure combustible material is kept away
from Floodlight.
DO install Floodlight in horizontal position.
If not used in horizontal position, tube life will
be greatly reduced.
DON’T mount the Floodlight within reach of children.
DON’T touch tube with bare hands. This will shorten
tube life.
DON’T position the Floodlight closer than one metre
from surface to be illuminated.
DON’T touch the housing or glass whilst light
is illuminated. Allow to cool before making
adjustment or changing tube.
DON’T allow overhanging shrubs or foliage
to come into contact with Floodlight.
DON’T operate the Floodlight with the front housing
opened.
DON’T point the Floodlight further than 45°
downwards.

Replace any cracked protective shield.
In the event of a cracked or broken front glass lens,
please remove the lantern or replace the glass lens
(Arlec Part Number SS1063 as soon as possible.
