About this documentation

1.1 Introduction
Synchronous servo motors for use
in ATEX areas
MSK motors in ATEX design are suitable for the use in explosive atmos‐
pheres, according to ATEX directive 94/9/EC, in general automation technol‐
ogy. The motors are equipped with optical encoder systems, optional holding
brake, output shafts with and without keyway.
The description in this documentation only refers to motors for
use in potentially explosive atmospheres according to ATEX di‐
rectives.
