the direcons outlined in this

document.

- This guide does not apply

to any fences over 1.8m in

height. If your fence is greater

than 1.8m, please seek further

advice from Boundaryline.

POST INSTALLATION

STEP 1 -DETERMINE THE FENCE LINE, POSTHOLE DEPTH AND CENTRES

We recommend you plan your fence set out/post

posion on a piece of paper to save unnecessary

digging.

Accurately determine the boundary line to where

the fence will be installed, (in some cases a

surveyor may be required) mark this with a string

line as per the diagram below.

Determine your posthole centres using the table

below as a guide and mark out your posthole

posions on the ground with line marking paint.

NOTE-

Postholes can be dug by hand or with a mechanical auger. Use the foong depth table on page 5 to

determine your posthole depth and diameter.

Recommended foong depths listed here are for wind regions A & B plus terrain categories 2.0, 2.5 &

3. If you are building your fence in a cyclonic wind area, on top of a hill, adjacent to an escarpment, on

a ridge or in terrain category 1, you will need engineering advice beyond the scope of this publicaon.

POST INSTALLATION

STANDARD ‘POST CENTRE TO POST CENTRE’ GUIDE

The table below allows you to work out what

your post centres will be. If you have 1780mm

paling [allowing for 10mm either side for the

channel] and you are using 65 x 65 posts then

you will have an 1865mm post centre to post

centre.

This also shows the in-between measurements,

should you be ng your paling between posts

other than a 65 x 65 prole, i .e. mber posts ot

concrete blocks etc.

Please note that 1800mm is the standard height. Heights lower than

1800mm can be done using these components, with wastage.

IMPORTANT

For higher walls you will need

engineering advice beyond the scope of

this publicaon.

The diameter of your holes should be

large enough to have a minimum of

75mm clearance around the post.

When using vercal conversion kit, post centre may dier depending on desired outcome

IN-GROUND POST INSTALLATION

STEP 2 (A) - POST SETUP AND ALIGNMENT

Working to a string line on the face of the post, insert the rst post into the hole and gradually pour in

the concrete. Connually check the post alignment with a spirit level as the concrete is being poured.

seng concrete as it

can be corrosive to

Your string line should have a small amount of

clearance between it and your post. If you have

your string line always touching the post you can

risk pushing it slightly every me and the result

will be an ‘arc’ in the line of the fence.

FLANGED POST INSTALLATION

STEP 2 (B) - POST SETUP AND ALIGNMENT

Ensure that you have marked out the placement of your posts thoroughly. Failure to do so will cause

unnecessary holes in the surface of your concrete or mber.

The same principal of the gap between a string line and the posts works for both in-ground and

anged posts, this will ensure a straight line of posts. Refer to page 6 for a diagram of this.

Refer to the table on page 5 for the standard spacings required to house the palingw without the need

for cung bays down.

Fixing a anged post to the top of a

masonry block wall is not recommended.

This can cause the face of a block to

‘blow-out’

PALING CHANNEL INSTALLATION

STEP 3 - FITTING PALING CHANNELS

If your channels are not the desired length then these will need to be cut, ideally with a drop saw to

obtain a nice clean cut with out heang the aluminium to a point that it burns the powder coang.

With the use of a tape measure, string line/chalk line or if you have access to a laser level you can

mark the heights of the top of your slat channel on your posts.

NOTE - If your site has a sloping ground, it may be required that you step your fence from bay to bay.

Once a height has been established for all your channels, with the tek screws supplied, screw your

channel directly to your post whilst keeping the top of your channel to the marks you have made on

your post.

Your screws should be approximately 300-400mm apart down the length of your channel.

Make sure the post is elevated 10mm

higher than the channel to allow for a

post cap

IMPORTANT

The paling channel is asymmetrical, to

ensure your fence aesthecally looks

correct, make sure the “screw port

side” is all facing the same direcon

(Generally on the inside of your

property looks best).

PALING INSTALLATION

STEP 3 - FITTING PALINGS

The palings have a groove one side and a tongue the other so that they interlock when stacked on

each other.

Starng at the boom, slide and screw the rst paling into the channel with the tongue up. Then slide

the next paling in with its groove locking over the tongue, and repeat unl they are all stacked. Then

place the tongue cover over the last paling, and screw into place.

If you are doing a lower height than 1800mm, you will need to divide the height of your wall into the

number of palings you have to obtain closest number of palings.

NOTE - It is important to maintain both parallel and level within each bay. This will ensure a straight

looking fence.

This can be achieved by using a tape measure to check for the “Parallel” from either the top of the

channel or your starng point.

COVER CLIP INSTALLATION

STEP 5 - INSERT CHANNEL COVER CLIP

Once all your palings have been assembled you can now install the “Cover Clip”to the channel to hide

all visible xings.

Make sure the cover clip is the same length as your “Paling Channel” then you are ready to go.

The easiest way to do this is to use either a rubber mallet or the rubber handle of your hammer. Insert

one edge of the cover clip into the channel then with the rubber mallet/hammer handle from either

the top or boom, Tap the other edge rmly, this will clip it into place. Work your way to the other end

unl it is all secured in place.

It is important that the object you

use to tap the cover clip in with won’t

damage the powder coang.

Do not use the metal part of your

hammer, this will cause scratches or

dents.
