CANON POWERSHOT A75 BASIC INSTRUCTIONS

The Canon A75 is a modern, full function digital camera that can be set up to

handle almost any situation. For our purposes we have set it up to perform as a simple

“Point and Shoot” camera. This will yield very good results and doesn’t require the

user to be a skilled photographer.

The camera is set up for automatic focusing and exposure. The flash will operate

automatically in low light with the “red eye reduction” feature activated. The

compression and resolution settings will produce approximately 94 high quality

photographs on the memory card. The camera will have charged batteries and a blank

memory card installed, you shouldn’t have to change them, but if you do instructions

are provided. DO use the belt loop and wrist strap to hold the camera, and DON’T

leave the camera where it can get too hot or too cold – like in a car.

ZOOM CONTROL SHUTTER RELEASE

TO TAKE A PICTURE

Slide the MODE SWITCH up for shooting. (see next picture)

Press ON/OFF button on. The power on light turns green. The lens projects

and the liquid crystal display (LCD) screen turns on.

Compose picture in viewfinder, or on the LCD screen. Use the ZOOM

CONTROL to frame subject. Push right to zoom in, left to zoom out.

Press SHUTTER RELEASE button down half way to have camera focus.

Press SHUTTER RELEASE button all the way down to take the picture.

TO PLAYBACK OR DELETE A PICTURE

Slide the MODE SWITCH down for playback

Use the ◄and ►arrow buttons to cycle forward or backwards to playback

previous pictures.

To delete, select the picture using the ◄and ►arrows. Press the DELETE

FUNCTION BUTTON (with the small trash can symbol). The confirmation

screen appears on the LCD. To delete the picture press the SET button.

To cancel the deletion use the right arrow button while in the confirmation

screen to select CANCEL and then press the SET button.

Note: If the camera is inactive for a while the LCD screen will turn off to

conserve power. Any operation (zoom, pressing shutter ½ way) will restore it. If

the inactivity continues the camera will turn itself off.

THE BEST THING ABOUT DIGITAL CAMERAS IS NEVER WASTING ANY FILM.

HAVE FUN! EXPERIMENT! PRACTICE TAKING PICTURES UNTIL YOU ARE

COMFORTABLE WITH THE CAMERA – AND THEN DELETE ALL THE

PRACTICE PICTURES!

TO CHANGE BATTERIES

Use only AA Alkaline or AA NiMH (Nickel Metal Hydride) rechargeable batteries.

Flip camera over to bottom as shown. Move the battery cover lock to the left and up.

Open cover. Install batteries as shown in BATTERY DIAGRAM. The battery charger

kit works in a wall socket or in a car. Please recharge the batteries before you return

the camera to the Rectory.

INSTALLING A MEMORY CARD

Make sure camera is turned off. Hold camera firmly. Locate ‘CF OPEN’ marking on

the right side of the camera. Pull open – hard – in the direction of the arrow. The

cover opens, swing it to the right. Push in the BLACK EJECT BUTTON to release

the old memory card. Carefully slide in a new card– the card label faces up - until the

eject button pops back out. Close cover.
