You can customize various settings to suit your shooting preference&

(p. 48)_

Turn_n_ O_ H_n_s _ T_s

When you choose an item in the FUN(:. menu (p. 46) or MENU (p. 48), a

description of the function (hints and tips) is displayed. You can turn off this

function.

Choose [Hints & Tips], then press the 4

buttons to choose [Off].

Choose [Start-up Image], then press the

@ button,

Registering Recorded images as the Start-up Screen

When you press the F_ button and set the camera to Playback mode, you can

Changing CameraSettings

The dedicated operation sounds and start-up images on the included software

can be registered to the camera. Refer to the Software Guide for detaiis.

Changing the FiJe Number Assignment

Bmages you shoot are automatically assigned file numbers in the order they

were taken, from 0001 - 9999, and saved to folders of up to 2,000 images.

You can change the file number assignment.

Choose [File Numbering], then press the

_ buttons to choose an option.

Even if you shoot using a new

memory card, the file numbers

Continuous are assigned consecutively until

an image with the number 9999

is taken/saved.

If you replace the memory card

Auto Reset with a new one, or a new folder

is created, file numbering

begins with 000I again.

images are saved into folders created each month, however, you can also

create folders by shooting date.

Choose [Create Fo_der], then press the

4_ buttons to choose [Daily]=

Bmages will be saved into folders created

on each shooting date.

Changing the Lens Retract Time

For safety reasons, the lens retracts about 1 minute after pressing the []

button when in a Shooting mode (p. 27). If you want the lens to retract

immediately when you press the [] button, set the retract time to [0 sec.].

Choose [Lens Retract], then press the

4_ buttons to choose [0 sec.].

Tuming Off the Power Saving Function

You can set the power saving function (p. 53) to [Off]. Setting it to [On] is

recommended to save battery power.

Choose [Power Saving], then press the

button.

Press the _.v buttons or turn the _ dial to

choose [Auto Power Down], then press the

_ buttons to choose [Off].

If you set the power saving function to [Off],

be sure to turn the camera off after use.

Setting the Screen Shut-Off T_me

You can adjust the time the screen takes to shut off automatically (p. 53). This

also works when [Auto Power Down] is set to [Off].

Choose [Power Saving], then press the @

button.

Press the ,_v buttons or turn the _ dial

to choose [Display Off], then press the 4

buttons to choose a time.

Bnorder to save battery power, you shouBd

choose less than [1 min.].

Using the World C|ock

When traveling abroad, you can record images with local dates and times

simply by switching the time zone setting, if you pre=register the destination

time zones, you can enjoy the convenience of not having to switch the Date/

Time settings.

.....Set the home time zone.

Choose [Time Zone], then press the @

button.

When setting this for the first time, check

the information that displays on the screen

the left, then press the @ button.

Press the 4 _' buttons or turn the _ dial to

choose the home time zone.

To set daylight saving time (adds 1 hour),

press the ,_v buttons to choose [Daylight

Saving Time: On].

Press the @ button.

You can also set the daylight saving time

Changing Distance Units

You can change the distance units that display in the zoom bar (p. 24) and

the MF indicator (p. 98) from m/cm to fVin.

Choose [Distance Units], then press the

4_ buttons to choose [ft/in].

Calibrating the Electronic Level

Calibrate the electronic level if you think the camera is not shooting _eveHy_

Bfyou use grid lines (p. 170) to confirm that the camera is level beforehand,

you can calibrate the electronic Bevel more accuratety.

Level the camera.

Attach the camera to a tripod and make

sure it is level.

choose[Cal brate:l.

Choose [Electronic Level], then press the

@ button.

Press the ,,Lv buttons or turn the _ dial

to choose [Calibrate], then press the

button.

A confirmation screen wil! appear.

Press the 4 _ buttons or turn the _ dial to

choose [OK], then press the @ button.

Reset the electronic Revel

Follow Step 1 above to choose [Reset] and

the _,_ button.press

Once the electronic level is reset, the

menu screen will be restored.

$w_tch_ng the Fetus Setting

The camera focuses on whatever it is aimed at even when the shutter button

is not pressed. However, you can set it so that the camera only focuses when

the shutter button is pressed halfway.

Choose [Continuous AF], then press the

_ buttons to choose [Off].

Since the camera focuses continuously

On until you press the shutter button

halfway, it allows you to shoot without

missing photo opportunities.

The camera does not focus

Off continuously, thereby conserving

battery power.

The lamp will automatically light to assist focusing in low light conditions when

you press the shutter button halfway. You can turn off the lamp.

Choose [AF-assist Beam], then press the

4 _ buttons to choose [Off].
