Lock the exposure.

Point the camera toward the subject and

press the ,,L button while pressing the

shutter button halfway.

button and press the _. button again,

Compose the scene and shoot.

Just as with the AE lock, you can lock the exposure for shooting with the flash.

FE stands for "Flash Exposure".

Look the flash exposure.

Point the camera toward the subject and

press the _. button while pressing the

shutter button halfway.

The flash will fire and when "_ appears,

the flash output will be retained.

If you release your finger from the shutter

button and press the _. button again,

will disappear and FE will unlock.

Compose the scene and shoot.

The camera takes 3 continuous shots while automatically adjusting the

exposure to standard exposure, underexposure and overexposure, in that

order.

Choose _.

After pressing the @ button, press the

_v buttons to choose _r then press the

4_, buttons or turn the _ dial to choose

Set the exposure compensation

Press the DISR button.

Press the 4 _ buttons or turn the _ dia! to

adjust the setting.

From the exposure set by the camera, you

can adjust the amount of compensation ±2

stops in 1/3-stop increments. If exposure

compensation (p. 74) is already being

used, settings are made with the

compensated value as the base.

You can set the shutter to the speed at which you want to shoot. The camera

wil_ set the appropriate aperture value for the shutter speed you set.

TV stands for "Time value".

2" indicates 2 seconds, 0"3 indicates 0.3 second and 1/160 indicates 1/160

second.

If the aperture value appears in orange when the shutter button is pressed

halfway, the scene has exceeded the correct exposure limits. Adiust the shutter

speed until the aperture value appears in white. Safety shift can also be used

(p. 99)_

You can set the aperture to a value at which you want to shoot. The camera

will set the appropriate shutter speed for the aperture value you set.

AV stands for "Aperture value", which refers to the size of the aperture

opening inside the lens.

Available Aperture Values

F2.0, F2.2, F2.5, F2.8, F3.2, F3.5, F4.0, F4.5, F4.9, F5.0, F5.6, F6.3, F7.1, F8.0

Depending on the zoom position, some aperture values may not be avaiiabie.

If the shutter speed appears in orange when the shutter button is pressed halfway,

the scene has exceeded the correct exposure limits. Adjust the aperture value

until the shutter speed appears in white. Safety shift can also be used.

With TV and AV modes, if you press the MENU button and [Safety Shift] is set

to [On] in the _ tab, the shutter speed or aperture value is automatically adjusted

for the correct exposure when it cannot otherwise be obtained.

Safety Shift is disabled when the flash is enabled.

You can manually set the shutter speed and aperture to shoot images.

_V_stands for "Manual".

Set the mode dial to M.

The set exposure levet appears on the

indicator. You can check the difference

against the standard exposure level.

When the difference is more than ±2 stops,

the set exposure leve_ appears in orange.

When you press the shutter button halfway,

"=2" or "+2" appears in orange.

You can change the function assigned to the control ring. By performing

operations with the control ring, you can enjoy the feeling of using a fully

manual camera.

You can register which functions will be assigned to the control ring for each

Shooting mode.

choose C.

Fo_low Step 1 on p. 101 to choose C,

then press the MENUbutton.

choose a Shooting mode to set.

Press the _.v buttons or turn the 0 ring to

choose a function to register to the control

ring.

The function assigned to the control dia! will

be changed.

Press the @ button to make the setting.

The camera can detect areas in the scene, such as faces or backgrounds,

that are too bright or dark and automatica!ly adjust them to the optimum

brightness when shooting.

To suppress highlight blowout, Dynamic Range Correction is used. To bring

out shadow details, Shadow Correct is used.
