Using Various Functions for

Shooting Movies

This chapter serves as a more advanced version of the "Shooting

Movies" and "Viewing Movies" sections in Chapter 1, and explains how

to use various functions for shooting and viewing movies.

This chapter assumes that the mode switch is set to '_

The latter half of the chapter explaining movie playback and editing

assumes that the F_ button has been pressed to enter Playback mode.

Shooting Movies in Modes Other than _,_,

When the mode switch is set to _), the camera can automatically select

al! settings so that you can shoot movies (p. 30).

You can shoot movies by pressing the movie button, however, certain

settings made in the FUNC. and Shooting menus will automatically change

to match settings for shooting movies.

When you finish shooting a movie, the settings will return to those before

the movie was shot.

Adjust the settings according to

your purposes (pp. 98 - 103).

To stop shooting the movie, press the

You can choose between five Movie modes.

Choose a Movie mode.

After pressing the @ button, press the

,A_, buttons or turn the dial to choose

'_, then press the @ bu'tion again.

Press the ,_'_ buttons or turn the _[_i!i_dial to

choose a mode, then press the @ button.

_i" Miniature Effect You can shoot movies that look like a miniature model (p. 99).

2A"mColor Accent These Shooting modes let you change att colors except the

chosen color to black and white, or exchange the chosen color

for another color, when shooting. See "Changing the Color and

)_ Color Swap Shooting" (p. 92) for details. Choose the color you wish to leave

in or change before shooting the movie.

You can shoot fast moving subjects and play them back in slow motion. The

maximum clip length you can record is approximately 30 seconds !ong, which

will take approximately 4 minutes to play back in s_ow motion.

Press the movie button,

To stop shooting the movie, press the

movie button again.

The movie will play back in slow motion when you following Steps I - 3 on p. 32,

You can use the included software to change the piayback speed of movies shot

in _'. Refer to the Software Guide for details.

You can shoot movies that look like moving miniature models.

You create the miniature model effect by choosing the upper and lower

portions of the scene that will be blurred and the playback speed, which

makes people and objects in the scene move quickly during playback.

Audio will not be recorded.

A white frame (the area that will not be

blurred) appears on the screen.

Move the zoom lever to change the frame

size, and press the ._v buttons to change

the frame position.

.... Choose a playback speed.

Press the @ button.

Press the 4 _ buttons or turn the _,_!i_ dia! to

choose a playback speed.

Pressing the MENU button restores the

settings screen.

Shoot.

Press the movie button.

To stop shooting the movie, press the

movie button again.

Choose the movie quality setting.

After pressing the _,_ button, press the

Av buttons or turn the ;i_i:_idial to choose

_, then press the @ button again.

Choose an option.

Press the .Av buttons or turn the _i_',dial to

choose an option, then press the _ button.

The option you set will appear on the screen.

Since the number of recording pixetsis smatler than

[_ 320 x 240 pixets, 30 frames/sec, in _, the movie quality will appear coarse, but you

can record approximately three times the length.

Based on Canon's testing standards.

Recording will automatically stop when the clip fite size reaches 4 GB, or when the

recording time reaches approximately 10 minutes when shooting in _-_ or _, and

approximately 1 hour when shooting in _ or _.

Recording may stop even if the maximum clip length has not been reached on some

memory' cards. SD Speed Class 6 or higher memory cards are recommended.

You can lock the exposure or change it in 1/3 steps within a range of -+2 before

shooting,

Focus.

Press the shutter button halfway to focus.

Lock the exposure.

Set the editing range.

Press the _v buttons and choose _ or

you can trim the beginning of the movie
