shoulderheightandonthesamesideasthedoorhandle.

TheSA1DKacceptsupto500usersandprovidesentryviatheuseofPINcodes.Eachuseris
providedwithtwocodememoryslots,MemorySlot1(PrimaryCode)andMemorySlot2(Secondary
Code).
Thewayinwhichthetwomemoryslotsareprogrammeddeterminesausersaccesslevelandalso
determinesthewayinwhichtheSA1DKgrantsaccessinitsthreeModesofOperation.
There are three user levels:
Normal User
ANormalUseronlyhasaPrimaryCodeandisonlygrantedaccesswhentheSA1DK
isinNormalorBypassMode.
Secure User
ASecureUsermusthaveaPrimaryandSecondaryCodeprogrammed,thetwocodes
mustnotbethesame.TheSecureUsercangainaccesswhentheSA1DKisinanyof
itsthreeModesofOperation.InNormalModetheSecureUsermustusetheirPrimary
Codetogainentry.InSecureModetheSecureusermustpresentboththeirPrimary
andSecondaryCodesinordertogainentry.
Master User
AMasterUsermusthavebothPrimaryandSecondaryCodesprogrammedwiththe
samePINcode.TheMasterUsercangainaccessduringanyModeofOperationby
presentingtheirPINcodetothecontroller.(TheMasterUserisconvenientbutisless
securethanaSecureUser).

The SA1DK has 3 Modes of Operation:
1) Normal Mode
•ModeLEDisgreen
NormalModeisthedefaultmode.InnormalModethedoorislockeduntilaPrimaryCode
ispresentedtothecontroller.Specialcodessuchas“OpenCode1”and“OpenCode2”
areactiveinNormalmode.(SeePage16formoreinformationonOpenCode1&Open
Code2).
2) Bypass Mode
•ModeLEDisorange
IsBypassMode,accesstothepremisesisdependentonwhetherthecontroller’sLock
StrikeRelayisprogrammedforFailSafeOperationonFailSecureOperation.
WhentheLockStrikeRelayisprogrammedforFailSecureOperation,thedoor
islockeduntiltheDoorBellButtonispressed.
WhentheLockStrikeRelayisprogrammedforFailSafeOperation,thedooris
constantlyunlocked.
3) Secure Mode
•ModeLEDisred
OnlySecureandMasterUserscanaccessthepremisesduringtheSecuredMode.
ASecureUsermustentertheirPrimaryandSecondaryCodestogainentry.
AfterenteringtheirPrimaryCodetheDoorLEDwillashgreenfor10seconds,
duringwhichtheSecondaryCodemustbeentered.
AMasterUseronlyneedstopresenttheirPINcodeoncetogainentry.

TheREXbuttonmustbelocatedinsidethepremisestobesecuredandisusedtoopenthedoor
withouttheuseofaproximitycardorPINcode,itisusuallylocatedinaconvenientlocation,e.g.
Insidethedoororatareceptionist’sdesk.ThefunctionoftheREXbuttondependsonwhetherthe
LockStrikeRelayisprogrammedforFailSafeOperationorFailSecureOperation.Thedoorchime
intheBL-D40doesnotsoundwhentheREXbuttonisusedtoopenthedoor.
1)FailSecureOperation:FromthemomenttheREXbuttonispressed,thedoorwillbeunlocked
untilthe“LockStrikeReleaseTime”haspassed.Afterthistime,thedoorwillbelockedevenifthe
REXbuttonhasnotbeenreleased.
2)FailSafeOperation:FromthemomenttheREXbuttonispressed,thedoorwillbeunlockeduntil
theREXbuttonisreleased,plusthe“LockStrikeReleaseTime”.Inthiscasethe“LockStrike
Relay”onlybeginsitscountdownoncetheREXbuttonhasbeenreleased.
TheBL-D40ExternalSounderiscompatiblewiththeAC-X31,AC-X32,AC-x41andAC-X42series
StandaloneControllers(Foramoreup-to-datelistofcompatibleproductschecktheRosslareWeb
Siteatwww.rosslare.com.hk).Itisdesignedtooperateindoorsandinstalledwithinthepremisesto
besecured.TheSoundercanbepoweredby16VDCor12to24VDCpowersupply.
TheBL-D40iscapableofemittingfourdifferenttypesofalertsbothaudibleandvisual;Bell,Door
Chime,SirenandStrobeLight.
1)TheBellalwayssoundswhenthecontroller’sdoorbellbuttonispressed.
2)TheDoorChimecanbeprogrammedtosoundwheneverthecontrollerunlocksthedoor(the
DoorChimedoesnotsoundwhentheREXbuttonisusedtoopenthedoor).
3)TheSirencanbeprogrammedtosoundwhenthecaseofthecontrollerisopenedorwhenthe
controllerisremovedfromthewall.ThecontrollercanalsoprogramthelengthoftheSireninthe
BL-D40.
TheControllercommunicateswiththeBL-D40usingacodedproprietaryRosslarecommunications
protocol. This provides a more secure link between the Controller and the BL-D40. If the BL-D40
receives any unrecognized codes on its communication line or communication between the
controllerandtheBL-D40aresevered,theStrobewithashrepeatedlyuntilthecommunication
problemhasbeenresolved.
Ifthecaseofthecontrollerisopenedorthecontrollerisremovedfromthewall,atampereventis
triggeredandacodedtampersignalissenttoaBL-D40,PS-X41SeriesorPS-x42SeriesPower
Supply,orothercompatibledevice.
IftheBL-D40ExternalSounder,PS-X41SeriesorPS-X42SeriesPowerSuppliesreceiveaTamper
EventSignal,theywillactivateaSirenandifavailableaStrobeLight.TheSirentimecanbeeasily
programmedintheSA1DKfrom0to9minutes.
ClearingatampereventisdonebyenteringavaliduserorOpenCodethatwillopentheLockStrike
OutputinthecurrentModeofOperation.Forexample,whileinSecureMode,usingtheOpenCode
tocleartampereventwillnotworkbecausetheOpenCodedoesnotworkisSecureMode.However,
applyingaMasterCodeorSecureCodewillclearthetampereventinSecureMode.
