Installation and operating instructions
1 Safety
1.1 About these instructions
Read through these instructions completely before installa-
tion. Non-observance of these instructions can result in
injury to persons and damage to the pump/unit.
Once installation work is complete, pass the instructions on
to the end user.
Keep the instructions near the pump. They can be used as
a reference if problems occur later.
We accept no liability for damages resulting from failure to
follow these instructions.
1.2 Safety information
Important safety information is indicated as follows:
DANGER: Indicates a danger to life due to electrical cur-
rent.
WARNING: Indicates a possible danger to life or injury.
CAUTION: Indicates possible risks to the pump or other
items.
NOTE: Highlights tips and information.
1.3 Qualification
The pump may only be installed by qualified personnel.
This product may not be commissioned or operated by per-
sons with insufficient accountability (including children) or
who do not possess the relevant specialist knowledge.
Exceptions are only permitted on appropriate instruction
from safety-responsible persons. The electrical connection
may only be established by a qualified electrician.

1.4 Regulations
The current versions of the following regulations must be
observed during installation:
• Accident prevention regulations
• VDE 0370/Part 1
• Other local regulations (e.g. IEC, VDE, etc.)
1.5 Conversion and spare parts
Unauthorised modification and manufacture of spare parts
will impair the safety of the product/personnel and will make
void the manufacturer's declarations regarding safety.
The pump must not be technically modified or converted.
It is not permitted to open the pump motor by removing the
plastic lid. Only use original spare parts.
1.6 Transport/storage
Unpack and check the pump and all accessories upon
receipt. Report any damage sustained in transit immedi-
ately. Ship the pump in the original packing only.
The pump is to be protected against moisture and mechan-
ical damage and must not be exposed to temperatures out-
side the range –10°C to +50°C.
1.7 Electric current
There is a danger of an electric shock when working with
electrical current. Therefore:
• Switch off the power before beginning work on the pump
and make sure that it cannot be switched on again.
• Do not kink or jam the power cable or allow it to come into
contact with heat sources.
• The pump is protected against drips in accordance with IP
protection class (see rating plate). Protect the pump against
water spray. Do not immerse in water or other fluids.

3 Description and function
3.1 Intended use
The circulation pumps in this series are designed for warm
water heating systems and similar systems with constantly
changing flow volumes. Approved fluids are heating water
in accordance with VDI 2035, water/glycol mixture at a mix-
ing ratio of 1:1. If glycol is added, the delivery data of the
pump must be corrected according to the higher viscosity,
depending on the mixing ratio percentage.

Intended use of the pump/installation also includes follow-
ing these instructions.
Any other use is not regarded as intended use.
3.2 Product description
The pump (Fig. 1/1) consists of a hydraulic system, a glan-
dless pump motor with a permanent magnet rotor, and an
electronic control module with an integrated frequency con-
verter.
The control module contains an operating knob for setting
the control mode and an LED (Fig. 1/2) for displaying run
and fault signals.
3.3 Functions
All functions can be set, activated or deactivated using the
operating knob.
If the LED is green, mains voltage is applied and the pump
is in operation. If the LED is flashing, the pump is running
outside its normal parameters or is out of operation due to
a fault (see chapter 6, Maintenance / fault).
Control modes
Variable differential pressure (p-v):
The differential-pressure setpoint H is increased linearly
over the permitted volume flow range between ½H and H
(Fig. 2a). The differential pressure generated by the pump
is adjusted to the corresponding differential-pressure set-
point.
3 speed stages:
The pump runs uncontrolled in three prescribed fixed speed
stages. (Fig. 2b).
