Safety
General safety instructions for power tool use
Warning: Whenusing this machine all basic safety precautions must be followed to minimise therisk of fire,
electrocution and personal injury. Readthese instructions carefully before using theproduct and keep them for
future reference.
1. Keepthework areatidy.
Cluttered surfaces and benches invite accidents.
2. Takestock of your working environment.
Do not expose themachine to rain. Donot use themachine in moist or wet areas. Keeptheworking area
well lit. Neveroperate themachine near flammable liquid orgas.
3. Reducetherisk of electric shocks.
Avoid body contact with earthed objects such as pipes, radiators, ovens or refrigerators.
4. Keepother people at asafe distance.
Do not allow anyone not involved in thework process to touch themachine or its electric cable, especially
children. Keepall bystanders at adistance.
5. Storethemachine in asafeplace.
When your machines are not in use, keep them in alocked, dry area, away from children.
6. Donot overload themachine.
The tool will work better and safer at thefeed rate for which it was intended.
7. Usethecorrect machine.
Do not try to use small machines to perform jobs requiring more powerful machines. Donot use amachine
for apurpose for which it was not designed, e.g. using acircular saw for lopping branches off trees or cutting
timber.
8. Wearsuitable attire.
Do not wear loose-fitting clothing or jewellery; they could be caught in moving parts. Non-slip shoes are
recommended for outdoor work. Wearahairnet or similar if you have longhair.
9. Alwayswear safety glasses.
Wear safety glasses. Useadust mask or dust filter when working in dusty environments.
10.Usedust extractors.
If themachine is equipped with or connected to adust extractor/collector, make sure that it is turned on and
used correctly.
11.Donot abuse themainslead.
Do not pull or tug themains lead when unplugging themachine, grip and pull theplug itself. Makesure that
themains lead does not come into contact with heat, oil, or sharpedges.
12.Donot overreach.
Make sure that you stand steady and balanced alltimes.
13.Maintain power tools in top condition.
Make sure that your machine is clean and that any cutting edges are sharp for maximum effect and best
results. Followthemanual’s recommendations regarding lubrication and replacement of accessories. Inspect
themains lead regularly. Ifit is damaged it should be replaced by aqualified service technician. Inspect all
leads and cables regularly to check for any damage. Makesure that themachine’s handles and controls are
clean, dry and free from oil, grease etc.
14.Turnthepoweroff.
Push in theemergency stop button and pull theplug out before servicing or changing any blades, drill bits,
cutters or sanding discs.
15.Removeall spanners and repair tools.
Make ahabit of checking to make sure that themachine is free of all spanners and tools before turning
thepoweron.

16.Avoidaccidental starts.
Do not walk around with your finger on thetrigger of apower tool if it is plugged in. Makesure that
theON/OFF switch is set to OFF before plugging in any powertool.
17.Usethecorrect extension leads.
If you use extension leads outdoors, only use those designed for outdoor use. Onlyuse extension leads with
thick enough diameter core wires and roll out thewholelead.
18.Usecommon sense and be careful.
Think before carrying out any task, so that it is carried out safely. Neveroperate machines when you are
tired, under theinfluence of medicine etc.
19.Checkthefollowing before turning themachine on:
- That all guards and other parts are whole and in working order.
- That moving parts are free and correctly aligned.
- That no moving parts can get caught.
- That there are no visible defects.
- Other factors that could influence work execution.
A safety guard or any other part that is damaged should be repaired by atradesman or replaced.
Damaged power leads and switches must always be replaced by atradesman or qualified service centre.
Neveroperate themachine if you cannot stop or start it comfortably.
20.Useonly recommended accessories.
The use of non-recommended accessories could lead to accidents or injuries.
21.Shouldonly be repaired by aqualified technician.
This machine conforms to current safety requirements. Repairs to themachine should only be carried out by
atradesman using original spares; otherwise themachine could cause anaccident or injury.
Specic safety instructions for log saws
• Keep your hands and fingers well away from theblade and use, as always when operating machinery,
your common sense and take care whilst working.
• Make sure that there are no bystanders or pets close to themachine, sharp splinters can be ejected by
theblade with greatforce.
• Make sure that theblade is fitted theright way round and that theflange nuts of theblade are fully tightened
before use.
• Always keep thebladesharp.
• Always inspect theblade for damage and cracks before use.
• Check that theemergency stop button works.
• Always unplug themachine from thepower supply before making any adjustments or when you have
stopped work.
• Only use anextension lead with aconductor cross-sectional area of at least 1.5 mm² and which is approved
for outdoor use. Whenusing acable reel, always unwind thecable completely for better cooling and check
thecable and other equipment for damage.
• Never use thelog saw in rain or wet conditions.
• Never use themachine if theelectrical cable, power switch, safety guard or any other part is damaged;
faulty parts must be replaced by aqualified tradesman.
• Note: Checkregularly to ensure that all screws and nuts aretight.
• Always use aresidual current device (RCD or RCCB) which trips at < 30 mA between thelog saw and
thepower supply.

Safety symbols
Read theentire manual and save it for future use.
Wear avisor or safety goggles.
Always wear safety goggles or safety glasses with side shield protection when operating
thistool. Normal spectacles only have shock-proof glass and do not offer effective protection
from impacts. Flyingparticles and objects.
Wear ear protection.
Always wear ear protectors/defenders if thenoise level exceeds 85 dB(A).
Wear safety gloves.
Wear protective gloves when handling saw blades, changing blades and operating themachine.
Wear safety footwear.
Wear protective boots or safety shoes with non-slipsoles.
Never use thelog saw in rain or wet conditions.
Do not expose themachine to rain. Donot use themachine in moist or wet environments.
Warning: Rotating blade.
Keep hands away from theblade when it is rotating; never leave arotating blade unattended.
Disconnect power when not inuse.
Push in theemergency stop button and unplug themachine when you have stopped work and
before servicing or adjusting themachine.
Keep children out of theworkarea.
Supervise children and pets so that they remain asafe distance away from themachine.
Keep visitors asafe distance away from thework area whilst themachine is in operation.
This log saw is only intended to be operated by one person.
Warning: Riskof electric shock.
Follow all thesafety precautions and instructions in theinstruction manual.
Failure to follow thesafety instructions could result in serious injury or fatality.

Assembly
Warning: Thelog saw must not be switched on until it has been completely assembled and all thecomponent
parts have been securely tightened.
Step 1
1. Jointheleft leg (2) and theright leg (46) to
themotor support (10) using:
- 2×bolt M8 x75
- 2×lock nutM8
- 8×washer M8
2. Mounttheon/off switch (16) to themotor
support using 4×screws M4×55.
Note: Rearview of thelogsaw.

Step 2
1. Boltthewheel assembly (45) onto
theright leg (46) using:
- 4×bolt M8 x45
- 8×washer M8
- 4×lock nutM8
2. Attachthecradle connector (9) (can also
be used as ahandle) onto thesupport
stand using:
- 2×bolt M8 x45
- 4×washer M8
- 2×lock nutM8
3. Attachthereturn spring (32) onto thesupport
stand (10). Insert thebolt with aflat washer on
into thesecond hole from thetop.
- 1×bolt M8 x45
- 2×washer M8
- 1×lock nutM8
4. Fitthebolt attached to thechain (60) in thehole
under thereturn spring (32).
Step 3
Mounttheinner blade guard (18) (the part of
theblade guard closest to themotor):
1. Fitthe2 short bolts (17) with washers through
theinner bladeguard. Passthebolts through
theelongated holes in themotor support plate
(14), fit washers onto thebolts and fix with
locknuts.
- 2×bolt M8 x20
- 2×washer M8
- 2×lock nutM8
2. Makesure that theinner blade guard is
centered on thedrive shaft, adjust if necessary.
3. Fitawasher onto thelong bolt (56) and then
pass it through thefront bracket of theinner
blade guard and theupper hole for thereturn
spring (32) on thesupport stand. Tighten
thelocknut.

Step 4
Assemble thecradle:
1. Attachthelower blade guard to thecradle.
- Screw theparts of thelower blade guard
(38 and 36) together using 3screws
M6×16, washers andnuts.
- Screw theassembled lower blade guard
onto thecradle (47) using 2screws
M6×45, washers and nuts and 1 screw
M6×60, washer andnut.
2. Fix thehandle (49) to thecradle using
2screws M8×25 (50) and locknuts.
3. Screwthehook arms (40, 42) down using
thecountersunk M6×10 screws.
Step 5
1. Install thesaw blade and blade guard:
- First fit theinner retaining disc (22) onto
thedriveshaft.
- Then fit thesaw blade (23) onto thedrive
shaft*. Pressthesaw blade against
theinner retaining disc and hold it in
place. Fittheouter retaining disc (24)
up against thesaw blade, screw on
theblade nut (25) and tighten it.
Note: Theinner blade retaining disc is
shouldered and has aninner barrel which fits
into thecentre hole of thesaw blade to ensure
that it is centred.
Make sure that theblade is centred on
theretaining discs and that it rotates in
thecorrect direction before tightening
thesecuring nut.
Warning: Usetheincluded blade nut spanner
and locking spanner, and wear safety gloves.
Warning: Becareful when tightening theblade
nut so as not to slip and cut yourself on theblade.
*Note: Install theblade in accordance with
thedirection of rotation arrow markings on
theblade and thebladeguard.

2. Screwtheouter blade guard on asshown.
- Fit theouter blade guard (26) onto theinner bladeguard.
- Fasten it in place using thefour small screws (19) and washers (60).
3. Mountthecradle between theright (46) and left (2) legs.
- Line up theholes in thecradle with thecorresponding holes in thelegs and pass aM8×75 bolt through
from theoutside on each side. Placeone washer next to thehead of thebolt, one between thecradle
and theleg and one next to thenut.
- Remember to place washers between thecradle (47) and theright/left leg during assembly.
Step 6
Attachthemoving guard, on theinside of theinner and outer bladeguard.
1. Slide thetwo moving guards (30 and 28) into theslots on theinside of theinner and outer blade guards.
2. The hook arms (40 and 42) on thecradle should then be placed on theinside of theprotrusions on
themoving guard. Turnthehook arms as shown in thefigure.
3. The moving guard which has anopening with amoving plate should be fitted to theinner blade guard
closest to themotor (see figure).
Note: Makesure that theblade passes cleanly through thegap in theguard without touching. Ifnot, loosen
thescrews in theguard and adjust it as necessary.
The motor is fitted with abrake which makes theblade difficult to turn by hand when themotor is switched off.
Step 7
Screwtheother bolt (60) in thechain into thehole
in thecradle.
Step 10
Attachthebracket (20) holding themoving guards in
place asshown. Usethelong bolt with 2 washers
and alock nut. Donot tighten it toomuch.
