General safety instructions
• The winch is designed for intermittent use only and should not be under constant load.
• The winch is not designed for commercial use and themanufacturer does not
guarantee that it is suited for that purpose.
• The winch is not intended for lifting.
Safety instructions specific to this product
WARNING:
• Do not use thewinch for lifting loads. Thewinch must never be used for lifting or
moving people.
• Do not use thewinch cable for towing vehicles, this can overload thecable and
thewinch’s gearbox.
• Do not exceed thewinch’s ratedload.
• Do not use thewinch under heavy load for along time. Itis intended for intermittent
use only and must not be under constant load. Ifthemotor becomes very hot,
stop thewinch and let it cool for afew minutes. Neveroperate thewinchfor
longer than 1 minute at atime on maximum or near-maximum load.
• Make sure that there are always 5 turns of winch cable left on thedrum.
• Avoid winching at extreme angles as this can result in thecable spooling up on just
one side of thedrum. Thiscan lead to thecable tangling, resulting in damage to
both thecable andwinch.
• Make sure that thevoltage is not less than 12 V to get themaximum pulling power.
Thewinch has maximum pulling force when one layer of cable is woundon
the drum. Thegreater thenumber of layers wound round thedrum, thelesser
the pulling force.
• Never wind thewinch cable directly round theobject to be winched, it could
damage thecable. Usesome kind of strap/sling.
• Attach thewinch securely to avehicle or fixed object before operating it.
Theanchor point must be strong enough to bear thewinch’s maximum load.
• Winch slowly at first, until thecable is taut. Stopand check that all thejoints are
secure. Makesure that thehook is securely connected.
• It is agood idea to lay aheavy blanket or jacket over thecable near thehook when
winching heavy loads. Theweight of theblanket will dampen any recoil in thecable
and prevent it whipping around if it should break.

4
English
• Never stand close to thewinch drum when thewinch is underload.
Keepat adistance of at least 1.5m.
• Never step over or crawl under thecable when thewinch is underload.
• When using thewinch to move objects, thevehicle should be in neutral gear with
thehandbrake on and its wheels chocked. Thevehicle’s engine should be running
when thewinch is in use. Ifyou use thewinch for along time with theengine
switched off, thebattery could go flat making it difficult to start thevehicle again.
• Never put thewinch in neutral when it is underload.
• When you have finished winching, disconnect theload. Donot leave thecable
under tension after you have finished winching.
• Always maintain asafe distance from thecable, hook anddrum.
• Inspect thecable and other equipment regularly. Akinked or frayed winch cable
should be replaced immediately. Useonly approved spares. Wearthick leather gloves
when handling thewinch cable. Donot let thecable slide through your fingers.
• Do not touch thewinch, thetaut cable or thehook when thewinch is in operation.
Neverhold thehook with your finger. Yourfinger can be pulled out if it gets caught
in thehook.
• After using thewinch, keep thecable taut when winding it back onto thedrum.
Makesure that thecable is wound evenly onto thedrum.
• Do not use thewinch whilst under theinfluence of drugs, alcohol or medicine.
Stayalert whilst using thewinch.
• Always wear suitable protective clothing such as non-slip safety shoes,
ear defenders, gloves, etc.
• Do not modify or weld thewinch.
• Service thewinch regularly. Regularly check that all nuts and bolts aretight.
• Never connect thewinch to voltages of 110 V or 230 V as it can short-circuit or
give you anelectric shock.
• The winch must not be immersed inwater.
• The winch must never be used if it or any of its accessories is damaged in anyway.

Mounting instructions
In order for thewinch to be used correctly it is important that it is correctly mounted.
Chooseanappropriate place to mount thewinch. Itshould be strong enough to
support themaximum load of thewinch. Readyour vehicle’s handbook to find out if
there is arecommended place to mount thewinch.
1. Attach thehook to thecable and fasten theclevis pin with thesplitpin.
2. Plan how you are going to route your electrical cables so that they are best protected.
Iftheinsulation on theelectrical cables is damaged, thebattery could short-circuit
and cause afire or explosion.
3. Place thecontactor (1) close to thebattery and as protected as possible from
moisture and dirt. Makesure that its connections are far enough awayfrom
the chassis or other metal parts, and make sure that no tools or other loose
objects can come into contact with theterminals of thecontactor or battery.
4. Place thecontrol switch (2) where it can easily be reached and is not in theway
of any other controls. Ifit is placed on thehandlebars, make sure that thecontrol
switch or cable does not stop thehandlebars from turning fully.
5. Make sure NOT to run thecables over sharp edges, moving parts, hot parts or
where they can be crushed or worn. Tidyloose cables together with cable ties or
electrical tape.
Wiring instructions
1. The red cable from thecontrol switch (2) should be connected to thevehicle
ignition switch. Thecable should only be “live” when theignition ison.
2. The other two cables from thecontrol switch (2) should be connected to
the corresponding cables from thecontactor (1).
3. The positive (+) and negative (–) terminals of thebattery should be connected as in
thediagram. Theconnections are coded black for negative and red for positive.
4. It can be difficult to know thepolarity of thewinch, so you will just have to experiment.
Connect thewinch to theouter terminals on thecontactor and test thewinch.
Checkthat therotation of thewinch corresponds to the(IN/OUT) labelled on
the control switch (2). Swapthecables over if themotor goes thewrongway.

Operating instructions
NOTE:
• Stay safe – wear gloves when handling thewinchcable.
• Make sure that there are always 5 turns of winch cable left on thedrum.
• NEVER disengage theclutch when thewinch is operating or thecable is under load.
NEVER force theclutch into any position. Firstrelease thetension on thecable so
it is not underload.
Before initial use
In order to get thelongest service life from your winch cable, it should be primed for
use by first being spooled out until only 5 turns remain on thedrum and then winched
back in under aload of 200 kg. Makesure that thecable winds evenly onto thedrum.
A tightly packed and evenly wound cable prevents lower layers of cable on thedrum
from being crushed and deformed.
If thewinch is mounted onto avehicle, adequate load can be created by braking
the vehicle whilst winching thecable in. Stopwinching in thecable afterevery
3 metres and check that thecable is winding tightly and evenly around thedrum.
1. Disengage thewinch drum by turning thefreespool/engaged knob (7)
anticlockwise to theFreespool position.
2. Spool out as much cable as is necessary. Alwayshold thered fabric
hook strap when pulling thewinchcable.
3. Attach thehook to theload securely, do not wrap thewinch cable
round theload – use suitable straps, slings or chains instead.
4. Make sure that there are at least 5 turns of cable left on thedrum.
5. Engage thewinch drum by turning thefreespool/engaged knob (7)
clockwise to theEngaged position. Pullon thecable to make sure
that thedrum is engaged.
6. Start winching in by pushing IN on thecontrol switch (2). Theswitch has areturn
spring and thewinch will stop when therocker on thecontrol switch is released.
Winchout by pushing OUT on thecontrol switch. Nevermove thefreespool/
engaged knob (7) when thecable is underload.
7. When you have finished winching, make sure that thecable is not under tension,
unfasten thecable from theload and winch it back onto thedrum. Ifpossible,
get someone to help operate thecontrol switch. Holdthefabric strap attached to
thehook and see that thecable is evenly distributed over thedrum.
Warning! Ifyou need to spool in thecable by hand, make sure that it is evenly distributed
and not over theedge of thewinch drum, as this can damage thewinch.

Useful tips
• If thewinch is only to be used for raising and lowering asnow plough blade,
it is advisable to fit ashorter winch cable to thedrum, thefull-length cable could
become damaged if only thesame part of it is used every time. Whenusing long
winch cables, it is advisable to winch out theentire length of thecableand
winch it back in again from time totime.
• Pulling with adouble cable (line) and apulley block halves theload on thewinch.
Single LinePull Double LinePull
• Never try to turn thefreespool/engaged knob when thecable is under load –
make sure that thecable is slackfirst.
Care and maintenance
• Ensure that all mounting bolts are properly tightened.
• Repairs should only be carried out by aqualified tradesman.
• The gearbox is factory lubricated for life. Further lubrication of thegearbox is
not necessary.
• Inspect thebattery leads regularly. Theleads should be cleanand
the connections tight.
• Inspect thecable before and after every operation of thewinch.
Replace theline if it is damaged.
Replacing thewinchcable
1. Disengage thewinch drum (set to freespool).
2. Spool out theold cable and remove thefastening screw.
3. Insert theend of thenew cable into thehole. Makesure that it is inserted correctly
bearing in mind thedirection of thedrum rotation.
4. Tighten thefastening screw.
5. Winch thecable onto thedrum.
Make sure that thecable winds evenly onto thedrum
Check regularly to make sure that thecable is wound evenly on thedrum.
1. Spool out thecable until 5 turns remain on thedrum and then winch it back in
under aload of about 200kg.
2. Steer thecable onto thedrum to ensure that it is evenly and tightly wound.
