Introduction
This FLC820Gtm Industrial Wireless Ethernet Modem is specially designed for Point-to-Point and Point-to-Multipoint wire-
less applications, offering system-wide connections between Ethernet devices at a speed of up to 54Mbps over the air
data rate. Fully compliant with IEEE 802.11g/b standards, the FastLinc FLC820G modem provides powerful features such
as the Windows based conguration utility, MAC address ltering, WEP and WPA security.

FCC Part 15 Notification
This device complies with Part 15 of the FCC Rules. Operation is subject to the following two conditions: (1) this device
may not cause harmful interference, and (2) this device must accept any interference received; including interference that
may cause undesired operation.
Federal Communications Commission (FCC) Statement
This Equipment has been tested and found to comply with the limits for a Class B and C digital device, pursuant to Part 15
of the FCC rules. These limits are designed to provide reasonable protection against harmful interference in a residential
installation. This equipment generates, uses and can radiate radio frequency energy and, if not installed and used in ac-
cordance with the instructions, may cause harmful interference to radio communications. However, there is no guarantee
that interference will not occur in a particular installation. If this equipment does cause harmful interference to radio or
television reception, which can be determined by turning the equipment off and on, the user is encouraged to try to correct
the interference by one or more of the following measures:
- Reorient or relocate the receiving antenna.
- Increase the separation between the equipment and receiver.
- Connect the equipment into an outlet on a circuit different from that to which the receiver is connected.
- Consult Data-Linc Group or an experienced radio/TV technician for help.
RF Exposure
1.This Transmitter must not be co-located or operated in conjunction with any other antenna or transmitter.
2.This equipment complies with FCC RF radiation exposure limits set forth for an uncontrolled environment. This equip-
ment should be installed and operated with a minimum distance of 23 centimeters between the radiator and your body.
Antenna / Coax / Amplifier Usage
While the use of ampliers is authorized, only an approved amplier may be used. The approved amplier is:
•Teletronics SmartAmp 1W amplier
The only external antennas approved for use are:
Without amplifier:
•12dbi (or less) Omni antenna
•14dbi (or less) Yagi antenna
•19dbi (or less) Panel antenna1
•24dbi (or less) Parabolic grid antenna1
With 1W amplifier
•8dbi (or less) Omni antenna (2db of coax loss is needed between the modem and antenna) 2
•10dbi (or less) Yagi antenna (4db of coax loss is needed between the modem and antenna) 2

Hardware Installation
Connect the FLC820G to your Ethernet-enabled device
A. If using an external antenna, connect the antenna and/or amplier to the Reverse Polarity SMA connector
B. Connect one end of an Ethernet cable to the FLC820G and connect the other end to the Ethernet LAN port located
on the device (e.g., a PLC, laptop, desktop computer, etc…).
C. Connect the power adapter to the FLC820G.

-Power
The FLC820G can be supplied with 10 to 28 VDC. The “DC Input Monitor” will tell you if the supplied power is acceptable.
If one of the two middle yellow LED’s are lit then the supplied power to the FLC820G is acceptable. If the top Red LED
(High) or the bottom Green LED (Low) is lit, then the power supplied is not acceptable.
Note: If the “High” LED is lit, damage to the modem can occur.
-LAN Port
The LAN port on the FLC820G is an auto sence port. This feature will auto sense the connection type (cross or straight)
so that either a straight or cross cable will work regardless of what your connecting to.
-Antenna
In order to improve the RF signal radiation of your antenna, proper antenna placement is necessary. Try to place the
antenna as high as possible to increase the coverage area. Also, do not place the antenna directly next to a metal object
(such as a steel beam or wall) or next to another radio antenna. If you have further questions, please contact Data-Linc
Group support.
-Reset
Press and hold the “Reset” button for about 3 seconds until all LEDs go off. This action will restore the factory default set-
tings of the FLC820G and enable you to congure the FLC820G via the default IP address and password.
Note: Once the modem is reset to the factory default all previous congurations will be lost.

-Access Point with Repeating
The FLC820G can be congured as an AP with repeating mode. Under this mode, you can extend the range of your net-
work by adding additional FLC820G with repeating for each additional LAN Segment. This type of network will also allow
SA’s to connect to any AP they can see.
System Configuration
The FLC820G can be congured in a variety of network system congurations such as AP mode, Station mode or AP with
repeating mode.
Note: To congure the FLC820G, go to “Congure your FLC820G”.
-Access Point w/ Station Adaptor(s)
The FLC820G can be congured to work as a wireless network access point with associated station adaptors. In this
type of network, there is one FLC820G congured as an Access Point and one or more FLC820G’s congured as Station
Adaptor’s. Typically the AP is connected a network backbone while the SA’s are connected to devices needing to connect
to the network backbone wirelessly. It’s worth noting that while SA’s can not talk directly to each other, devices attached to
SA’s can talk to each other through the AP (no special conguration is needed for this).

Congure via The Web Browser
Defaults
The default IP address of the FLC820G is: 192.168.0.2
The default password of the FLC820G is: “default”
Login
1. Connect your computer to the FLC820G either through a wireless or wired connection. Set a xed IP address (refer
to the Troubleshooting section for more help), within the range of 192.168.0.X (X can’t be 2), to your computer.
2. Launch your browser, then type the FLC820G’s address (e.g. http://192.168.0.2), in the Address eld of your browser
and press Enter.
3.Key in the FLC820G password (the default is “default”) and click on the “Login” button.
