2.3 Light and sound indicators
This emits light and audio signals depending on the VCI status as described below :
Steady white : VCI supply on waiting for user input.
Steady blue : VCI - Computer connection active.
Steady green or alternating Green/Blue : Communication with vehicle ongoing.
Alternating Green/Blue and sound warning : computer connection lost while communicating
with the vehicle

Steady yellow : Flight recorder ready to record.
Flashing yellow : Recording running.
Slow flashing red and sound warning : Battery voltage warning.
Rapid flashing red : Firmware update running.
Steady red : Firmware absent or corrupted.
2.4 Security dongle
The BlueTech VCI is supplied with a
USB security dongle This is paired
with the VCI it is supplied with and
contains the VCI license data The
security dongle must be connected
to the computer to start and run the
DS applications.
Note:
Any security dongle containing the appropriate licenses can be used to start the DS applications.
However it is only possible to communicate with a vehicle using the VCI if the dongle associated with
the VCI is connected to the computer.

2.5 Equipment identification
Serial number
The serial number is found on the
back of the VCI as shown opposite.
Dongle number
The dongle associated with the VCI
has its own identification number.
This is engraved on the dongle as
shown opposite.
It is also possible to obtain the
dongle number and the associated
serial number by connecting the
dongle to a computer and starting
the LAT application.
3. SET UP
The drivers required for the VCI are installed on the computer during the installation of any of
the DS programs (DS-Cars, DS-Heavy Duty or DS-nano™). The Bluetech VCI set up is done using
the DS applications. This section describes the installation of the DS applications and the
BlueTech VCI configuration.
Note:
Do not connect the VCI to the computer via the USB before installing the DS application.

3.1 Download the DS application.
Go to the dso.my-delphi.com site and
then to the “Download” tab.
Click on the "DS-nano / DS-CARS / DS-
HEAVY DUTY Software” download
button.
Enter the VCI number and the dongle
number (see the Identification
section) to validate and start the
download.
Note:
The number of downloads authorized per unit is limited to 3. Keep a safe copy of the installation
program. If it proves necessary to exceed the download quota, contact Technical Assistance to
obtain a new copy.
3.2 DS application and driver installation
Connect the security dongle to the
computer or tablet.

Start the installation program and
wait for the end of the auto-
extraction and loading process.
Select the language to be used
during the installation (this does not
select the program language which
can be re-configured at any time).
Follow the on-screen instructions to
install the CodeMeter program.
Follow the on-screen instructions to
install the LAT program.

The LAT (License Activation Tool) will
then start, click on start to activate
the license.
An Internet connection is required
for the activation process.
Check that the serial number
displayed corresponds to the number
on the back of the VCI.
Wait for the VCI license(s) activation
process to finish. When this has
finished, quit the LAT program.
The installation program will start
automatically.

Select the product to be installed ”DS
BlueTech VCI Car“ or “DS BlueTech
VCI Heavy-Duty“. If both are
required, run the installation
program twice (once for each DS).
Check that the computer satisfies the
system requirements and click on the
“View” button.
Click on the check box then on “Next”.
Select the installation folder then
click on “Install” and wait for the
installation to finish.
You are advised not to change the
installation directory.
A new icon will appear on the
computer desktop. Double click on
the icon to start the diagnostic
application.

The DS application will configure the
environment during the first start
and the home page will be displayed.
3.3 Bluetooth connection
3.3.1 First connection
Bluetooth is the default
connection. The BlueTech VCI is
equipped with technology that
allows the VCI to connect to the
computer using Bluetooth
without the need for user setup.
If the Bluetooth connection is
operational, a green “Bluetooth”
symbol is displayed in the upper
right hand corner of the screen.
It is sometimes necessary to
authorize the VCI connection in
Windows. If this is required, the
“Bluetooth” symbol is gray and a
Windows” Add a device” dialog
box will appear. Click on the
warning to authorize the
connection.
The Windows “Pair Devices”
window will display and a dialog
box requesting the authorization
to connect new hardware. Click
on “Authorize”.
