Section I Introduction

This manual con ains ins alla ion, opera ion and care

ins ruc ions and user service informa ion for he

Den alEZ aXcs® Basic-Duo Chair Moun ed Uni (CMU).

The aXcs Basic-Duo CMU is designed o provide

rouble-free service when ins alled, opera ed and

main ained according o he procedures se for h in

his manual.

To ensure correc ins alla ion, carefully read all he

procedure ins ruc ions con ained in his manual pay-

ing close a en ion o all no es, cau ions and warnings.

Before proceeding, please review he illus ra ion

below o become familiar wi h he componen s of

he aXcs Basic-Duo CMU.

NOTE: Be aware that some cartons are shipped as

fillers and may be empty (even if optional components

are ordered).

NOTE: For wood or metal floors, drill 5/32"

holes. For concrete, drill 1/4" holes and install

plastic anchors.

NOTE: The US umbilical bracket is shipped from

the factory attached to the umbilical assembly and is

not included in the US package.

1. Remove the full-size USC template found in

the back of this manual.

2. Position the USC template according to the

exact layout indicated, making certain correct

distance from base to chair is maintained.

3. Using the USC template, drill four corner

mounting holes for the USC base. But, do

not secure the base to the floor at this time.

1. Find and open the USC bag of supplies.

2. Using the full-size USC template found in the

back of this manual, orient the utilities (as

shown in the picture below) and stub through

the floor.

Set the USC cover aside until all

installation and testing is complete.

—WARNING —

Before proceeding with plumbing and elec-

trical installation, comply with and maintain

all applicable utility codes and regulations.

—IMPORTANT NOTICE —

DO NOT DISCARD the USC template

after use. Neatly refold it and replace it in

the bac of this manual

Section II Pre-installation

NOTE: Pay close attention to the orientation of the

template to the chair.

3. S eat the valve adaptors to the air and ater

stubs.

4. Apply the appropriate thread sealant to the

valve adaptors and install the stop valves.

5. S eat the vacuum and gravity drain elbo s to

the stubs. The electrical contractor is to provide a covered 115

VAC receptacle hich meets all applicable utility

codes and regulations.

For the recommended location of the 115 VAC

receptacle, see the full-size USC template in the back

of this manual.

NOTE: If the recommended location is not met, the

US base or the optional power module may interfere

with the 115 VA receptacle.

6. S eat the hose connectors to the elbo s as

applicable and orient as sho n in the photo

above.

7. Flush the air and ater lines to remove trash

and debris from the lines.

8. Connect the ater actuator valve assembly to

the ater stop valve as sho n in the photo

above. Using a 5/8" open-end rench,

tighten the nut securely.

9. Connect the air fitting assembly to the air

stop valve as sho n in the photo above.

Using a 5/8" open-end rench, tighten the

nut securely.

Chair Mount

1. Remove the existing brake handle cover from

the back of the chair.

NOTE: There are two types of brake handle

covers. One may be removed by just pulling straight

back, the other has two Phillips-head screws with

plastic snap covers that must be removed. If the

existing brake handle cover does not have a cutout

to accommodate the arm's mounting bracket, the

cover may need modification or a new brake handle

cover kit (PN: 3801-825) may be ordered from

ustomer Service (1-866-DTE-INFO).

2. Using an Allen rench and the t o 5/16"

countersink socket-head bolts, attach the

arm's mounting bracket to the chair.

—NOTICE —

If previous utilities interfere with the

USC base internal bracing, modifica-

tion may be necessary.

3. Install the brake handle cover.

4. Route the umbilical do n the outside of the

chair to the front of the USC.

5. Place a level on the arm and check the level.

1. Position the USC base over the four corner

holes that ere drilled during pre-installation.

2. Secure the base using the four #10 scre s

supplied ith the USC.

NOTE: If level-

ing is needed, tilt

the arm up to ex-

pose the set screw

Do not connect power to the chair until the

unit is ready for testing.

1. Using t o #10 scre s, attach the umbilical

bracket hich is already on the umbilical to

the USC base.

2. Attach the rigid 1/4" red, incoming air

pressure line already on the air regulator

assembly to the air fitting assembly on the air

stop valve assembly using the compression

fitting supplied ith the USC.

4. Connect the yello signal air line already on

the poppet valve assembly to the 1/8" barb

on the ater stop valve assembly. Then secure

the yello signal air line using a 1/8" tubing

clamp.

5. Connect the 1/8" red air line from the

umbilical to the 1/8" barb on the poppet

valve assembly (barb nearest the 1/4" red tube

already on the poppet valve assembly). Then

secure the red air line using a 1/8" tubing clamp.

6. Connect the 1/8" yello line from the

umbilical to the remaining 1/8" barb on the

poppet valve assembly (barb next to the 1/8"

yellow line already on the poppet valve assembly).

7. Attach the rigid 1/4" green, incoming ater

pressure line already on the ater regulator

assembly to the ater fitting assembly using

the compression fitting supplied ith the USC.

8. Attach the 1/4" green line from the umbilical

to the ater regulator assembly.

9. Trim the 5/8" vacuum line using a utility knife.

10. Install the 5/8" vacuum line on the vacuum

elbo .

11. Attach the 1/4" red supply line of the foot

control to the 1/4" barb of the poppet valve

assembly.

3. Use soap to lubricate the 1/8" barb of the ater

stop valve assembly and the open end of the 1/

8" yello signal air line hich is already on the

poppet valve assembly.

12. Connec he 1/8" blue and 1/8" black lines

from he umbilical o he foo con rol. (See the

tubing diagram in the back of this manual.)

13. Open he air and wa er s op valves. Then

check for leaks.

3. Ins all he 11/16" plas ic clamp over he 6"

leng h smoo h ubing of he air foo con rol.

4. Secure he 11/16" plas ic clamp using he

exis ing bracke hole and screw.

5. On he inside of he base pump cover, loca e

he recessed area around he power cord slo .

Then rou e ou a clearance slo in he cover a

he recessed loca ion.

6. Ins all a hairpin clip on o he corruga ed hose

covering he umbilical assembly, aking care o

posi ion he clip 7/16" in fron of he me al

base assembly.

7. Feed he umbilical assembly's corruga ed

duc ing hose hrough he clearance slo .

8. Posi ion he base (pump) cover aligning he

four moun ing holes o ensure he chair

power cord and umbilical assembly do no

in erfere wi h he cover's fi . Bu , do not

secure he base (pump) cover a his ime.

9. Remove and re ain he wo #10 screws ha

secure he L-shaped bracke o he USC base

pla e.

10. Thread he L-shaped bracke on o he duc ing

hose ha connec s he chair o he USC. (The

ducting hose is left-hand threaded.)

11. Secure he L-shaped bracke back on o he

USC base using he wo #10 screws

previously removed.

12. Remove he hospi al plug from he chair

power cord and ake no e of he wire color of

he cord o he corresponding screw color of

he plug.

13. Pass he power cord hrough he duc ing hose

and in o he USC.

14. Trim he power cord leng h if desired, hen

rea ach he hospi al plug o he cord.

15. Plug he power cord in o he USC recep acle.
