2 Introduction

e-CAM52_35x camera daughter board has been designed and developed by e-con Systems

India Pvt Ltd. The eCAM52_35x camera daughter board uses a 5MP flexible PCB Autofocus

camera module based on OV5640 CMOS sensor from Omnivision. This camera daughter board

can be directly interfaced to the OMAP3530 Evaluation board from Texas Instruments (TI). e-con

Systems also provides Linux and Windows CE camera drivers and sample applications for these

camera daughter boards. This document describes how to interface the e-CAM52_35x camera

daughter board on TI’s OMAP3530 EVM board and how to use the same.

This camera daughter board is designed for the TI’sSitara/DaVinci family of processors and can

easily be adapted to interface with other Application Processors with similar CMOS Image sensor

interface.

This camera daughter board is also supplied with the sample applications. The DirectShow

compliant Windows CE camera driver and the Sample Camera Application are provided as is

without any warranties, implied or explicit.

3 Scope

The scope of this document is limited to the description of the camera daughter board and how to

interface this daughter board on the TI OMAP3530 EVM board. This also lists down any

precautions to be taken, if any.

5 Description

The e-CAM52_35x camera daughter board designed to interface with the standard Micron

camera header of OMAP3530 Rev-G EVM from TI. The e-CAM52_35x camera board

accommodates the OV5640 5M pixel auto-focus camera module. OV5640 is a low voltage high

performance color CMOS sensor from Omnivision. This board contains an onboard oscillator, the

necessary voltage source, powers and reset sequence to support the functionality of this camera

module on the TI OMAP3530 EVM.

5.1 Block diagram:

The following block diagram explains the camera daughter board design in brief.

5.2 Interface Connector Pin Description

The e-CAM52_35x camera daughter board connects to the OMAP3530 EVM board through a 26-

pin Micron camera header. The following table lists down the pin numbers and signal names of

this Micron camera header.

7 E-CAM52_35x board handling procedure

The e-CAM52_35x board should be mounted to Micron Camera header (J31) of the OMAP 3530

EVM Rev G as indicated in the following steps

1. Put the jumper connecting Pin 2 and 3 of JP1 header on OMAP 3530 EVM Rev G. This is

required to connect the camera signals to Micron connector (J31). This is illustrated in

the picture below

2. The camera board’s pin one is indicated as below.

3. Insert the camera board into the Micron header (J31) of the OMAP EVM board as shown

in the image below. Note that the camera module should face outside the board.
