2.2 Standards applied 2.3 Inspection of personal equipment
The climbing carriage/ safety rail
combination has been tested according
to standard EN 353-1:2014 and
method VG11 RfU11.073 and meets
the requirements of the Directive on
personal protective equipment 89/686/
EEC. The type examination certicate has
been granted by the Finnish Institute of
Occupational Health (Työterveyslaitos),
PL 40, 00032 Työterveyslaitos
(Topeliuksenkatu 41b, FI-00250 Helsinki).
Notied body no 0403.
The climbing carriage must be checked
on a regular basis in order to reveal any
possible defects and/or weakening.
A basic inspection of personal
accessories (climbing carriages) is
to be performed in connection with
the annual inspection of the other
personal accessories (full body harness
and ropes). In the regular inspection
the date of inspection as well as
any appropriate comments shall be
recorded on the product register card.
3 MAINTENANCE/DURABILITY
The structures of the climbing carriages are made of acid proof steel and nylon, so
they are not prone to corrosion and weather damage. The carriages have no joints
or precise ts. They do not need to be oiled or greased. The carriages withstand
even rough handling and there are no special requirements on their storage or
maintenance. The structure of the climbing carriages has been developed for
aggressive use, which means that prolonged heavy use in poor conditions will not
prevent reliable functioning.
NB! NB!
If an inspection of the climbing carriage reveals
exceptional wear and tear, a broken spring (the latch of
the carriage is not automatically outside of the carriages
body), an opening in the spring absorber of over 10
mm or the nylon parts are worn out, the carriage must
be immediately taken out of service and sent to the
manufacturer Eltel Networks Oy for inspection and repair.
The carriage must be immediately taken out of service in
case of falling on the support of the carriage.
The arrow must point
upwards and the guide
pin must be on the left
side of the carriage.
4 INSTRUCTIONS AND FUNCTIONS.
4.1 4.2
Follow carefully the instructions for use supplied with full-
body harness and safety rope.
Install the carriage into the rail so that the arrow points
upwards and the guide pin is on the left side of the
carriage.
The climbing carriage may be installed into the prole
(lower end of the prole is abt. 0.7m above ground level)
either by opening carriage stopper no. 851 or in case of
absence of the stopper by direct drawing the carriage into
prole. Taking the carriage out of the prole is performed
in reverse order.
Connect the climbing
carriage to the full-
body harness by snap
hook (connection
point A or two points
marked with ½ A to
be used together
simultaneously).
4.3 Compatibility
Make sure that this product is compatible with the other parts of your equipment.
Check with instructions for every single piece of your equipment. Climbing carriage
No 932 CE is only compatible with the system containing safety rail B. Behind safety
rail B you can see marking No 930 CE or No 931 CE or No 932 CE which means that
safety rail is intended to be used only with climbing carriage No 932 CE.
4.4 4.5
Lean heavily backwards on the full body harness when
climbing. Distance between the front edge of the
prole and full body harness connection point should
be as short as possible. Do not add anything (damper
or anything else) between the carriage and the full
body harness. The carriage will then move without
obstruction. The hands are needed mainly for steering
the climb.
If the dragging force acting
on the carriage ceases
– e.g. during a fall – the
climbing carriage turns
and locks onto the next
recesse claw of the prole
at a maximum distance
of 15 cm.
Instruction!
The user should take special care during the last two meters before leaving the prole.
WARNINGS!
It is prohibited to
do any changes,
additions or
rets to the

climbing carriage
for any other
