details, see page 6. (For instructions on loading envelopes and legal-size paper,

see your online User’s Guide.)

1. Pull out the paper cassette.

2. Slide the edge guides outward.

3. Position the guide shown below for the size of paper you’re using.

Loading Paper

4. Load the paper with the glossy or printable side face-down. (Load letterhead

or pre-printed paper top edge first.)

Note:

You can load up to 250 sheets of plain paper or 20 sheets of photo paper. Some

papers should be loaded one sheet at a time; see your online User’s Guide for

details.

If you are just making a copy or printing a rough draft, plain paper is fine. However,

for the best results, use one of Epson’s special ink jet papers, as listed on page 6.

For automatic two-sided printing, use plain paper or Epson Bright White Paper.

5. Slide the edge guides against the paper, but not too tight. Make sure the paper

is under the tabs on the edge guides.

6. Gently insert the paper cassette.

7. Extend the output tray as shown.

Placing Originals for Copying, Scanning, or Faxing

Placing Originals for Copying,

Scanning, or Faxing

Before you copy, scan, or fax, place your documents or photos on the scanner glass

or in the Automatic Document Feeder.

Using the Scanner Glass

You can place a photo or a document up to letter-size (or A4-size) on the scanner

glass.

1. Open the document cover.

2. Place your original face-down on the

scanner glass, with the top against the

back left corner.

3. Close the cover gently to keep your

original in place.

Using the Automatic Document Feeder

You can place up to 30 letter- or A4-size sheets, or 10 legal-size sheets (single-sided

only), in the Automatic Document Feeder (ADF).

1. Open the Automatic Document Feeder paper support, and then move the

edge guide outward.

Using the Automatic Document Feeder

2. Fan the originals, then tap them on a flat surface to even the edges.

3. Insert the originals face-up, top edge first. The

ADF

icon appears on the

screen.

Note:

If you’re using the 2-up Copy layout, make sure the originals are loaded as shown

below.

4. Slide the edge guide against the originals, but not too tight.

Copying a Document

Follow the steps in this section to copy black-and-white or color documents.

Note:

You can use the Copy/Restore Photos option to copy photos onto 4 × 6-inch, 5 × 7-

inch, 8 × 10-inch, letter-size, or A4-size Epson photo paper (various types available) for

instant photo reprints. See the online User’s Guide for details.

To turn off the “beep” heard when you press a button, press FSetup, select Printer

Setup, then select Sound. Select Off and press OK.

Copying a Document

You can copy documents onto letter- or A4-size plain paper, Epson Bright White

Paper, or Epson Presentation Paper Matte, just like on a copy machine. If you use

the Automatic Document Feeder, you can copy up to 30 sheets at a time.

1. Load paper in the sheet feeder (see page 4).

2. Place your original document on the scanner glass, or load your documents in

the Automatic Document Feeder (see page 8).

Note:

When you use the Copy function with originals loaded in the Automatic Document

Feeder, letter-size paper is automatically selected for your printed copies. If you

copy a legal-size document, the image will be cropped. To copy a full legal-size

document on letter-size paper, press Reduce/Enlarge. Select Legal->Letter, then

press OK.
