2.1.1 Stable Light
The Stable Light is powered by a single-phase mains electrical cable at a
voltage of 80-264 VAC and is provided with 30 cm (11.8 in) mains ex cable
with an IP65 rated in-line connector so that the installer can connect with ease
to the mains electrical supply. The Stable Light measures ambient light and
adjusts its output accordingly to create the desired light intensity within the
beam range. The Stable Light is protected by a protective guard (blue cover)
to protect against ingress of dust and debris. This provides full upright coverage
and ventilation.
The protective guard has openings on either
side for the installation of a mounting bracket
(U shape) that is supplied separately when
required. This bracket can be connected to
the internal Stable Light chassis. This allows the
Stable Light to operate at an angle if needed.
The Stable Light is resistant to corrosion and
degradation that could be caused by nitrates
and other gases produced within the stable
environment.
2.1.2 Controller
The Controller is powered by a single-phase
mains electrical cable at a voltage of 80-264
VAC and is provided with 30 cm (12 in) mains
ex cable with an IP65 rated in-line connector
for the installer to connect with ease to
the mains electrical supply. The Controller
comprises a 9 cm (3.5 in) anti-glare colour
screen with a white backlight situated above
a variety of buttons. The buttons are integral
to the membrane with 5 main control options;
up, down, right, left and select. There is also a
red emergency override button (!) that when
pressed, turns on the bright white light in all
Stable Lights paired with that Controller.
2.1.3 Accessories
A 2 m (6.6 ft) black chain and 2 carabiner clips are provided, to enable the
hanging of the Stable Light vertically via the main loop on the top.

3. INSTALLATION INSTRUCTIONS FOR ELECTRICIANS
Please read the instructions carefully before use to ensure safe and satisfactory
operation of this product. Please keep these instructions for future reference.
3.1 Warnings
• This product is an IEC protection Class I appliance and must be earthed.
• The Stable Light is for indoor use only.
• The light source within the Stable Light is non-replaceable. When the light
source expires, the entire Stable Light must be replaced.
Please read these instructions carefully before commencing installation.
Install in accordance with the IEE Wiring Regulations and Building Regulations.
To prevent electrocution, disconnect at mains supply before installing Stable
Lights. The Stable Lights should be connected to a 5-amp fused circuit. If
replacing an existing tting, make a note of the connections.
Note: The Stable Light is to be suspended 3.5 m (11.5 ft) from the ground and in the
centre of the stable where possible. If installing in an open barn, space each Stable Light
approximately 4.5 m (15 ft) apart.
3.2 Installation Instructions for Stable Light and Controller
Requirements for installation of Stable Lights:
• Small Phillips athead screwdriver
• Bracket/screws suitable to attach the hanging loop or chain to the roof/
ceiling of the stable/barn
Each Stable Light has its own identication number and identication number
cards. Please attach one of these cards outside the stable in which the
Stable Light is to be installed for easy identication. The Controller will identify
the Stable Light by this number. Users can later change this number on the
controller to a suitable name for the stable or animal.

Step 1: Disconnect the mains power. When replacing an existing light tting in
stable/barn, carefully note the position of each set of house wires. Where a
ring/loop circuit exists, there will be a fourth set of wires (usually red) that are not
connected to the Live (L) or Neutral (N) of the tting. This circuit must be kept
together in the 4th terminal of the connection block, and insulated from the
tting and the other wires. The ring/loop will remain live unless isolated at the
mains or circuit breaker regardless of the position of the wall switch.
Step 2: Having identied the wiring, connect to the connection block included
with the Stable Light and/or Controller in the following way:
Please ensure that...
• House wires are correctly identied
• The connections are tight
• No loose wires have been left out of the connection block
• The lid is tted tightly onto the connection block case
A fourth connection block can be used should it be needed to make a loop
connection. This is not provided. The connection block must be wrapped in
insulation tape covering at least 2 cm (0.9 in) of the wiring on each side.
Requirements for installation of Controller:
• 4x screws and wall plugs to attach Controller to wall surface
When installing the Controller, make sure it is positioned such that the
Emergency override button (!) can be accessed at all times. To install the
Controller, please follow steps 1 and 2 above.
Step 3: Replace fuse or circuit breaker and reconnect mains power. The
Equilume Stable Lights are now ready for pairing and programming using the
Controller.
