User manual of VMZ awning blind
1. Use of the awning blind during the storm
It is required to roll up the awning blind in case of exceeding
the wind speed limit: for manual blinds it is 50 km/h, while for
electric ones 120 km/h. It is recommended to use an emergen-
cy power source for electric awning blinds in windy areas where
power outages often occur.
2. Use of the awning blind during the rain
The awning blind can be used during short-term rain. In case of
long-term absence of the residents or long-term rain, it should
be rolled up, and once the rain is over, the blind should be rolled
down in order to dry the fabric. If possible, avoid leaving rolled
up awning blind for longer than 3 days as mould and stains may
form.
3. Use of the awning blind in low temperatures
In case of negative temperatures, it is advised not to use the awning blind as icing
may occur. In this case, it is also forbidden to use force in order to
start the awning blind. It can be used again once the frost is over.
4. Use of the awning blind in winter
It is advised to set manual mode in case of longer absence of the
residents. Leaving the blind in automatic mode may lead to its
damage in case of icing.
5. Access to control devices
Keep control devices out of children’s reach and prevent them
from operating the blind.
6. Awning blind operation area
Do not leave any items within the operation area of the awning
blind which may interfere with its proper operation.

7. General recommendations for using the awning blind
The awning blind can be operated only if it is completely functio-
nal. Check if for signs of damage (e.g. unusual noise, incomplete
operation range, incorrect setting of end positions). If you notice
any irregularities, stop using it immediately, adjust the blind, and
if the problems continue, contact FAKRO Service (www.fakro.
com/service).
8. Improper use
– Do not move the fabric manually in case of electric awning
blinds.
– Do not load the fabric with additional weights.
9. Risk of injury
Do not move closer body parts to the moving
elements of the awning blind (e.g. lower bar)
during its operation. Before running the blind,
make sure there are no other people nearby.
10. In case of emergency (re, power failure)
Do not roll down the awning blind in case of re. In case of re or
power failure, in order to pave the way to escape, manually push
the fabric by moving the lower bar up towards the cassette.
11. Optimal position of the awning blind
Set the awning blind (lower bar) in the lowest possible position.
This will provide protection against adverse vibrations of the
blind, ensuring its comfortable operation.
12. Service & Maintenance
The awning blind should be maintained regularly at least once
a year. It is suggested to lubricate moving elements of the aw-
ning blind. Use dry Teon grease. It is recommended to take
advantage of service of the qualied professionals. If repairing
the awning blind on one’s own, disconnect it from the mains,
while in Solar version remove the battery. Use exclusively origi-
nal spare parts. This will ensure trouble-free and long-term ope-
ration of the awning blind.

13. Cleaning
Clean the awning blind regularly in accordance with the follo-
wing rules:
– do not lean on the awning blind and its elements;
– remove any foreign objects from the awning blind and its
guides (such as leaves, branches);
– vacuum cleaner or compressed air can be used to remove
dust;
– do not use high pressure washer, aggressive cleaning agents, solvents, alcohol,
petrol, etc.;
– wash using soft sponge and warm water (max 35°C) with soap (or special agents
for PVC), rinse with clean water;
– do not scrub with sharp and abrasive objects;
– some dirt can be removed using clean eraser;
– avoid washing the awning blind in full sun as it may lead to the
formation of stains caused by washing agents;
– once cleaned, leave the awning blind unrolled to dry.
14. Aluminium maintenance
Care of external aluminium proles consists mainly in washing them at regular in-
tervals and should respect some basic rules depending on environmental conditions
and exposure of the structure. In non-industrial areas, where the environment does
not contain aggressive elements, care should be carried out at least once a year, whi-
le in urban and industrial areas this process requires care at least twice a year.
Care operations:
– It is best to use water with a neutral mild cleaning agents which does not contain
abrasive materials, strong detergents, acids and or alkaline agents, eg. dishwa-
shing or glass cleaner.
– It is allowed to use a chamois leather cloth or washing sponge which is not hard
or rough.
– After cleaning, rinse elements with clean water and dry with a delicate, water-ab-
sorbing cloth or paper towel.
– Do not wash surfaces that are or have been recently exposed to high temperatu-
res.

15. Possible fabric deformation
15.1 Fabric crease at the edges of the ZIP
awning blind.
Due to the connection of the fabric in the ZIP
awning (welded connection of two materials
featuring dierent properties) it is acceptable
to have creases within the edges of the fabric.
15.2 Horizontal stripes on the fabric
Due to the connection of the fabric with the
winding tube, horizontal stripes may occur
after unfolding the fabric.
The above eects may be particularly notice-
able after the awning has not been used for a while. Once unrolled, the fabric should
return to its original condition, but still slight creases may remain.
These deformations are not a defect of the product, they result only from the proper-
ties of the materials used and do not constitute grounds for a complaint.
