General Information

The FD171DMT ver HDSDI-CAN is a 17.1" LCD and Display Mount which has

features that allow installation in the smallest of mounting areas with the minimum of

interface equipment. Built with retrofit aircraft integration in mind, this display has a

single HDSDI-CAN Video input.

Additional Information

The FD171CV-LP, is an integral part of the FD171DMT. The video source input for

the FD171DMT is currently HDSDI-CAN. Contact Flight Display Systems for other

video input options.

The FD171DMT ver HDSDI-CAN is not visible to passengers while stored, but can be

swung out and into the aisle for accessible viewing. The FD171DMT ver HDSDI-CAN

is offered in either a Left or Right configuration. The FD171DMT ver HDSDI-CAN-L is

mounted on the Left side of the bulkhead, to deploy in a swing motion up and right into

the aisle, while the FD171DMT ver HDSDI-CAN-R is installed on the Right side of the

bulkhead deploys up and left into the aisle.

To deploy the monitor press the “Press Here” button on top of the enclosure.

Installation Instructions

All cabin entertainment equipment, such as the FD171DMT ver HDSDI-CAN, should

be installed on a non-essential bus and have a dedicated circuit breaker.

The FD171DMT ver HDSDI-CAN is integrated with a rugged mounting bracket.

Usually the FD171DMT ver HDSDI-CAN is mounted inside a bulkhead divider. The

monitor locks into place when stowed. The FD171DMT ver HDSDI-CAN is secured

with four to ten #10 machine screws. Please be sure to inspect the mounting bracket

for the correct number of holes before pre-drilling.

Power

This is a 28VDC unit that requires 1.3 Amp of power to operate. The unit turns on

automatically upon monitor deployment.

Wiring Suggestions

All shields should be grounded to the connector at the source, and floating at the

display.

Avoid routing video wiring parallel to:

AC wiring

Strobe wiring

DC motor supply cables

Inverter cabling

Or any other potential noise source

Power and Ground Wiring

This is a 28 VDC monitor that requires 1.3 Amp of power to operate. To operate

properly this monitor requires an input voltage of 18-29 VDC.

The rated current of the equipment and associated voltage drop should be taken into

consideration when selecting wire gauge. The following example is based on an

install with a 28 VDC power system and a total of 50 feet of wire between the circuit

breaker, monitor and ground.

Example: 22awg wire has 16.2 Ohms per 1000 feet, this equates to .81 Ohms for 50

feet. 1.3 Amp of current on .81 Ohms will drop 1.06 Volts.

Also, use short heavy gauge wire and a clean tight connection for ground.
