Hitachi VSP G130 Manuale di istruzioni
nstalling your VSP G130 storage system
Hitachi Virtual Storage Platform G130 storage systems are designed for self-installation, so you can set up your storage
system for the first time without assistance from a Hitachi Vantara representative.
Child Topics
•Step 1: Unpack the storage system
•Step 2: nstall the storage system into a rack
•Step 3: Connect the storage system to power
•Step 4: Cable a management console
A customer-supplied computer is used to set up and manage your storage system.
•Step 5: Power on the storage system
•Step 6: Perform the initial setup
nitial setup of the storage system is performed using the Windows-based management console.
•Step 7: Make host connections
•Step 8: Register your storage system with Hitachi Vantara support
f you have not already registered for access to Hitachi Support Connect, do so now. Otherwise, you will not be
able to download and install Hi-Track Remote Monitoring system, and you will encounter delays in getting your
storage system running and supported.
•Step 9: nstall Hi-Track Remote Monitoring system
•Where to go from here
After concluding the self-installation successfully, perform the following post-installation activities.
Step 1: Unpack the storage system
Before you begin
Make sure your data center meets all site preparation requirements before you install the storage system. n addition, if
you are not using a Hitachi Universal V2 rack, make sure the electrical specifications of your rack meet the power
requirements of the storage system.
Procedure
1. nspect all materials for signs of damage. f you see damage, discontinue the installation and contact your Hitachi

Vantara representative.
2. f your storage system did not arrive factory-installed in a rack, loosen the band around the cartons and open all
boxes. Remove all packing materials, envelopes, and boxes from the cartons.
3. Retain all packing materials and cartons in case you need to transport or ship the storage system in the future.
4. Check the items you received against the packing list. f any items are missing or damaged, discontinue the
installation and contact your Hitachi Vantara representative.
5. Place the keys for the front bezel in a safe place. You will need them to attach the bezel to the front of the
controllers.
6. f your storage system arrived already factory-installed in a rack, skip step 2 and proceed to Step 3: Connect the
storage system to power.

Step 2: nstall the storage system into a rack
Mount the controller into the Hitachi Universal V2 rack or into a 4-post E A 310-D compliant 19-inch rack with square
mounting holes and rear-facing power distribution units (PDUs).
NoteHitachi Vantara provides rail kits (part number A34V-600-850-UN -S) for mounting the storage system controller
into third-party racks. Mounting rails are shipped in a separate box. The left rail has the letter L cut into the sheet metal,
as shown in the following figure. The right mounting rail has no similar marking. The kit includes more screws than are
required for securing the rails to the rack.

The following instructions describe how to install the controller into a Hitachi Universal V2 rack. For information about
installing the controller in a third-party rack, see the documentation for that rack.
WARN NGDue to the heavy weight of the controller, use a mechanical lift or at least three people to lift and mount the
controller in the rack.
Before you begin
• Make sure you have a 19-inch rack that is secure and cannot fall over.
• Make sure the rack has one or more PDUs installed.
• Verify that all power cables are removed from the AC power receptacles on the rear of the controller.
• nstall the rack stabilizers before mounting the storage system in the rack.
Procedure
1. Loosen the four adjustment screws, if needed, so that the rail halves can be adjusted freely to fit between the front
and rear vertical rack posts.

2. Facing the front of the rack, find an empty 2U location where you will install the controller.
3. Place the left mounting rail as shown in the following figure, and then use two flathead screws to secure the rails to
the front vertical post on the rack.
NoteThe flathead screws are M5x10 (PZ-2), where PZ-2 refers to the size and type of the Philips head.

4. Slide the length of the left mounting rail to fit the length of the rack.
5. Use two flathead screws to secure the rails to the rear vertical post on the rack.

6. Tighten the four screws on the left mounting rail.
7. Repeat steps 1 through 6 to attach and secure the right mounting rail to the right side of the rack.
8. Position the controller so the front faces the front of the rack, and then slide the controller gently onto the rails.
Stop sliding when the mounting flanges on the front of the controller touch the vertical face of the rack.

9. Find the washers, O-rings, and screws included with the bezel bracket mounting kit (part number
043-100885-01.P). Then install a washer, O-ring, and screw (one per side) between the mounting profile of the
rack and the mounting "ears" of the controller. The screw engages the threaded hole in the rail.

Step 3: Connect the storage system to power
The storage system's input voltage is auto-adjusting for 100-120 (+6%) / 200-240 (-11%) VAC, 50-60 Hz power
connections. Power is provided through two power supplies, one per controller.
For best practice, establish power redundancy by routing each power supply to independent PDUs and then routing the
PDUs to separate external power sources on different branch circuits. This arrangement enables the storage system to
continue operating if AC power is lost to one power supply.
NoteMultiple outlets in a PDU or power strip do not constitute an independent electrical source.
Procedure
1. Confirm that all power sources are off.
2. Connect an AC power cable to the power receptacle on the rear of each controller.
3. Route the power cables from each controller to separate PDUs, and then use the pre-installed tie wraps at each
controller power receptacle to secure the power cables, as shown in the following figure.
4. Connect the PDUs to separate external power sources on different branch circuits.

Step 4: Cable a management console
A customer-supplied computer is used to set up and manage your storage system.
Before you begin
• Obtain a Category 5 or better Ethernet cable.
• Obtain a customer-supplied Windows-based PC that will serve as the management console for setting up the
storage system for the first time and, thereafter, to manage the storage system. The management console must
have a supported web browser: nternet Explore version 11 or later, Chrome, or Firefox.
Procedure
1. Connect one end of the Ethernet cable to the management port on the rear of either controller. The following figure
shows the connection to the management port on controller 1.

Step 5: Power on the storage system
1. Confirm that the power cables on the rear panel are connected to separate PDUs, as shown in the following figure.
Then connect the PDUs to external power sources.
NoteFor best practice, establish power redundancy by routing the power connections from each PDU to external
power sources on different branch circuits.
To prevent the storage system from being turned off by accident, make sure the external power sources are not
controlled by a wall switch.
