Arrange for at least three persons to carry and install an enclosure to avoid personal injury or device damage.
Before you handle devices, wear ESD clothes, wear a pair of ESD gloves or an ESD wrist strap, and remove
conductive objects such as ornaments and watches.
Do not operate devices or handle cables on a stormy day.
To avoid eye injuries, do not look into the optical outlets without eye protection.
To avoid electric shock, do not wear an ESD wrist strap during the power-on process.

NOTICE
1c Checking components
The following installation tools are required:
Phillips screwdriver (M3 to M6)
Flat-head screwdriver (M3 to M6)
Diagonal pliers
Floating nut mounting bar
A storage system power failure may cause devices connected to the
same circuit breaker to power off unexpectedly. Therefore, ensure
that the storage system power supplies have functioning circuit
breakers with the following amps:
AC power: not smaller than 10 A
DC power (not applicable to 5110 V5): not smaller than 30 A for
controller enclosures, not smaller than 18.5 A for disk enclosures
1 Installation Preparations
Only materials used in the installation process are listed here. The Packing List contains all materials required by the installation. The bag
containing the Packing List is attached to the outside of the carton.
Each controller of the OceanStor 5110 V5/5300 V5 is equipped with four GE electrical ports. Each controller enclosure of the OceanStor 5500
V5 is equipped with four SmartIO ports that do not support IP Scale-out networking. The following sections describe the process for installing
the OceanStor 5500 V5. The process for installing the OceanStor 5110 V5/5300 V5 is similar.
5110 V5 does not support high-density disk enclosures.

Recommended installation positions
Total required cabinet space = 2 U + 2 U x (Number of 2 U disk enclosures) + 4 U x (Number of 4 U disk enclosures)
For example, if the OceanStor 5500 V5 is equipped with three 2 U disk enclosures and three 4 U disk enclosures,
the space required by a cabinet is calculated as follows:
20 U = 2 U + 2 U x 3 + 4 U x 3
Note: The height of the storage system is measured by the unit of U. 1 U equals 44.45 mm (1.75 inches).
Tips
Install devices from the
bottom up and from heavy
to light (The total power of
all the devices cannot
exceed the total power of
the cabinet).

The adjustable guide rails are 600 mm (23.62 inches) to 900 mm (35.43 inches) long.
The adjustable guide rails are preconfigured with positioning pins before delivery.
Two paired adjustable guide rails must be positioned exactly parallel to one another.

Installing ball bearing guide rails for a high-density disk enclosure
(2) Remove a rail support.(1) Pull out the inner rail of the ball bearing guide rails.
(3) Loosen the screws and adjust the length of the ball
bearing guide rail to be the same of the cabinet depth. (4) Install the ball bearing guide rails.

(6) Installing a ball bearing guide rail bracket.
(7) Check the installation of the ball bearing guide rails.ng Hardware Installation
Check the distance between the left and right guide rails, and
ensure that the two templates can align and slot into the ball
bearing guide rails.
Check that the ball of the ball bearing guide rail has been
placed at the most front end of the middle rail.
Check that the edges of the middle rail and external rail are
at the same vertical plane.
(5) Fasten screws.

Scenario 2 Installing a high-density disk enclosure
Scenario 1 Installing a controller enclosure and a disk enclosure
Install a disk enclosure onto the guide rails using the same method as installing the controller enclosure.
After the controller enclosure is installed, pull out the information plate from the controller enclosure, as
instructed in step 4 in the preceding figure. On the left part of the information plate, you can record the
device's management IP address. On the right of the information plate, you can use your cellphone to
scan the QR code to obtain more information.
2e Installing storage devices into the cabinet
To avoid device damage, do not stack any components but install them onto guide rails.
If you remove controllers and disks for easily moving and installing enclosures, record the slots of these
controllers and disks in advance. This helps you insert controllers and disks back to their correct slots later. If a
controller is inserted into a different location, a system power-on failure may occur.
NOTICE
(1) Install the inner rail.
1. Install the inner rail onto the system enclosure.
2. Use two M4 screws to secure the inner rail.
(2) Remove the two M3 screws from the upper panel.
1010
(3) Place the side step at the rear (excluding the inner rail) of the high-density disk enclosure onto the front
bracket of the ball bearing guide rails, and slide the disk enclosure into the cabinet along the ball bearing guide
rails (no manual alignment is required because the inner rail automatically connects to the middle rail).
Do not pull out the middle guide rails when sliding the high-density disk enclosure into the cabinet.
Otherwise, the guide rails may be warped.
Before you install disk modules, install the high-density disk enclosure into the cabinet.
(4) Install a cover.
1. Pull out the enclosure slowly.
2. Push the upper cover backward until the upper cover touches the mounting bars.
3. Fasten the two captive screws on the cover.
(5) Secure the high-density disk enclosure.
1. Slide the enclosure into the cabinet slowly along the ball bearing guide rails.
2. Fasten the two captive screws on the front panel.
