2
Thank you for purchasing a Hyco Sapphire water chiller. This discrete
undersink chiller is designed to be used with a counter-mounted tap and filter
(not included) to provide instant high quality chilled drinking water.
This appliance is intended to be used in households and applications such as:
•Staff kitchen areas in shops, offices and other working environments
•By clients in hotels, motels, bed and breakfast and other residential type
environments
•Catering and similar non-retail applications
Please read and follow these instructions carefully to ensure that installation
and operation is simple and safe.
1. Important saf ty points
Only connect the unit to a single-phase supply as specified on the rating plate.
The unit should be installed with easy access to the electrical plug.
This appliance should be installed indoors, on a flat surface.
Install the appliance in a dry, well ventilated area; keep the ventilation
openings on the sides and front of the unit uncovered and unobstructed
with at least 10cm space from any surfaces.
This appliance can be used by children aged from 8 years and above and
persons with reduced physical, sensory or mental capabilities or lack of
experience and knowledge if they have been given supervision or instruction
concerning use of the appliance in a safe way and understand the hazards
involved. Children shall not play with the appliance. Cleaning and user
maintenance shall not be made by children without supervision.
Connect ONLY to potable (drinking) water.
If the appliance is not going to be used for long periods, unplug it and drain.

3
Disconnect the unit from power source before removing panels for
maintenance.
Before first use and after a long period of no use, the water tank and pipes
should be sanitised.
Do not install in environments where ambient temperatures are
< 10 0 C or > 38 0 C.
2. Installation
Plumbing
Before commencing installation, ensure the location is a flat level surface that
will allow for adequate airflow around all sides of the appliance.
Place the chiller in the final installation location and make a connection from the cold
water supply of the building to the chiller connection marked “WATER IN”. It is strongly
recommended to fit a service valve on the branch for ease of future maintenance.
Cut to length the ¼” pipe provided to fit your installation. Take care to make a clean
straight cut and not to crush the ends of the pipe as this may cause the connection
to fail.
A brass adapter and plastic connector are provided to connect the ¼” pipe to 15mm
mains supply copper pipe. Two identical connectors are provided to connect the ¼”
pipe to the “WATER IN” inlet on the chiller and then to connect a new run of ¼” pipe
from the “WATER OUT” outlet of the chiller to the desired tap/ cold water dispenser.
The 2 black washers provided are for these 2 connectors and a locking collar is
provided for each of the 3 plastic connectors.
(Note: If a filter is specified, check the specific filter for guidance on any
installation and flushing procedures. Flushing of the filter should be performed
before connection to the chiller)
Commissioning
Open the cold-water outlet and then turn on the cold supply to the chiller, wait until a
smooth flow of water is dispensed to ensure any air is purged from the appliance
before closing the tap and checking all water connections for leaks.

4
The chiller can be set to deliver a range of chilled water temperatures between 4°C
and 10°C. It is recommended that the lowest setting (1) is used for drinking water.
Higher settings will cause the unit to work harder and in turn increase the
temperature of the installation environment.
After heavy draw-offs of water from the chiller, it will need time to recover before
further chilled water is available. The recovery time will vary dependent on incoming
water temperature but is typically between 8 and 12 minutes for the full capacity of
the tank.

Draining the unit
It is recommended the unit is sanitised every 3 - 6 months.
Before undertaking maintenance ensure the appliance is isolated from the
electrical supply.
•Unplug the power cable from the electrical outlet.
•Isolate the water supply to the chiller and remove ¼” pipe from the “Water In” &
“Water out” connections at the top of the product. To do this the collars of the
push fit connectors should be pushed down as the ¼” pipe is pulled away for
the connections, a small spanner can be used to facilitate this.
•Remove and position the chiller onto a location where the water can be drained
away from beneath the unit. To drain the unit simply unscrew the drain nut
located on the underside of the chiller, ensure the drain seal is retained in the
drain nut.
•When the unit is drained, replace the drain nut and seal and then follow the
commissioning section of this instruction when reinstating.
Sanitising the unit
•First drain down unit as per the “Draining the unit” section. Ensure the drain
nut and seal are replaced before adding the sanitising fluid to the tank via the
“Water in” fitting at the top of the chiller.
•Reinstall the unit and recommission as per commissioning section of this
instruction. Follow the instructions of the sanitising fluid for required times
before thoroughly flushing the appliance through.
Filter Maintenance
•If a filter is installed in line with the chiller the filter cartridge needs replacing at
the intervals specified in the filter instructions.
