Connecting the Optional IR Remote Control
Signal Extender
Programming Your Remote Control
The IR Extender allows you to install your DTA
in an unobtrusive location, such as a cabinet, and
control your DTA with a remote control.
1. Plug the IR Extender into the IR IN port on the
back of your DTA.
2. Peel the paper backing from the adhesive pad
on the bottom of the IR Extender receiver. Mount
the IR Extender receiver so nothing is blocking the
sensor on the front of the receiver. You must be
able to point the remote control at the sensor.
Your remote is initially programmed to control your
DTA only. If you would like to program the remote
to control yourTV too, follow the Remote Guide
instructions included in this kit.
FAQs
What is “Analog” and why the switch to Digital?
“Analog” refers to the type of cable TV signal that comes into your home. Analog
technology does not require equipment to decode its signal. It is an older technol-
ogy that some televisions still use today, although most new televisions sold over
the last few years use Digital/HD technology. The old analog signal uses valuable
bandwidth. In order to add more services and technology we need to recover
that bandwidth on our network.
Why is the upgrade happening now?
With the increasing number of HDTVs in homes and HD programming from TV
networks and other providers, upgrading from analog to digital will enable us to
offer more programming choices and better picture quality. Also, the upgrade frees
up more network bandwidth to meet the needs of Internet customers as well.
Who does this affect?
This upgrade will affect ImOn Local Plus customers or Digital cableTV customers
who have a television currently connected directly to coax cable, without an ImOn
set top box/cable card or digital tuner within the TV.
What if I do nothing?
If you don't take action, anyTV you currently have connected directly to cable TV
without an ImOn set top box, cable card or TV with digital tuner, will lose the sig-
nal to the 11 channels changing from analog to digital on October 21st. If you have
a set top box connected to your TV, you do not have to do anything. If you have a
digital tuner TV you will need to rescan your TV on or after October 21st in order
to pick up the new manual tune channel numbers.
Will the DTA box contain an on screen program guide?
No, the DTA does not include a program guide. You can access guide information-
through the TV Guide Channel - ImOn channel 5.You can also download the TV
Guide app to your smartphone and select ImOn as your provider .
How much does an HD DTA cost?
HD DTAs are $4.98/mo with the rst 12 months free.
Will the channel lineup change?
The only change to the channel numbers will be the manual tune lineup. On
October 21st the manual tune channels will be updated to reect a more simple
numbering convention. Refer to the channel lineup included in this kit for a listing
