Before using the intrinsically safe terminal, please read this instruction sheet thoroughly and retain it for future

reference. The intrinsically safe terminal

•is available as a standard terminal or a radio frequency (RF) terminal.

•ships with 4MB flash memory and a scanner installed.

•display backlight is disabled.

•has no backup battery.

•weighs 140g (5 oz) more than a standard Trakker Antares®2425.

Introduction to the Intrinsically Safe Terminal

The Model 2425CS bar code terminal has been qualified as Intrinsically Safe to the requirements of

CENELEC by SIRA and to the requirements of the USA and Canada by Underwriters Laboratories,

Incorporated.

Hazardous Locations

This terminal is suitable for use in the following hazardous locations:

CENELEC: Zone 1 (EEx ia), Class I, Groups I and IIB, Temperature Code T4 (Approved under

ATEX Directive)

Canada: Division 1, Class I, Groups C and D, Temperature Code T4

USA: Division 1, Class I, Groups C and D, Temperature Code T4

Division 2, Class II, Groups F and G

Approved Accessories

This terminal is considered intrinsically safe only when used with the following Intermec Technologies

Corporation accessories:

•Long-range laser scan module (Part Number 069279)

•Standard laser scan module (Part Number 071945)

•High-visibility laser scan module (Part Number 071946)

•Battery pack (Part Number 068868)

All other 2425 accessories are usable but not certified for intrinsically safe environments.

Approved Radio Options

The RF terminal is considered intrinsically safe only when used with the following Intermec Technologies

Corporation approved radio options:

•IEEE 802.11b High Rate (HR) radio

•WLI-F 2.4 GHz OpenAir radio

Warnin s and Cautions

All warnings and cautions herein must be observed for the safety of the operator and others in potentially

hazardous locations:

•This terminal must be used only when the ambient temperature is between -20°C and +40°C (-4°F and

+104°F).

•Batteries must NOT be changed or charged in hazardous locations.

•This terminal must not be connected to any other device while in hazardous locations.

•This terminal is intrinsically safe as long as it has not been abused or damaged.

Char in the Battery Pack

•You must use the Trakker Antares TZ2400 or Z2400 Battery Charger to recharge your battery pack.

•You must fully charge your battery pack prior to using it in your terminal.

•Usually a battery pack is fully charged in less than three hours.

•Remove the battery pack from the charger within 24 hours after charging is complete.

•Battery packs can be charged after partial discharge without affecting the original battery capacity.

Note: Although the Intermec battery pack looks similar to commercially available video camera

battery packs, it will not fit in other battery chargers.

Caution

Use only an Intermec TZ2400 (Part Number TZ2400A) or Z2400 (Part Number Z2400A)

Battery Charger to recharge the Intermec battery pack (Part Number 068868). Recharging this

battery pack with any other charger voids the intrinsically safe rating of the terminal.

Installin and Removin the Battery Pack

Replace the main battery pack with Intermec Part Number 068868 only. Use of any other battery packs may

present a risk of fire or explosion. Contact your local Intermec sales representative for replacement batteries.

To install the battery pack

1. Open the battery door by pushing down on the battery door latch and sliding it toward the bottom end of

the terminal. Lift up the top edge of the battery door to remove it.

2. Hold the battery pack with the flat side facing down toward the inside of the battery compartment. The

small arrow on the top of the battery pack must point toward the top end of the terminal (the end with the

display).

3. Place the battery pack into the battery compartment.

4. Hook the slots on the bottom of the battery pack into the slots on the bottom of the battery compartment.

5. Slide the battery pack toward the top end of the terminal until it fits and locks into place. The battery pack

must be all of the way forward for the battery door to close.

6. Using the Hex wrench that ships with the terminal, turn the battery retainer locking nut counterclockwise

to release the battery retainer. The battery retainer is designed to prevent removal of the battery in a

hazardous location.

7. Use the Hex wrench to push the battery retainer toward the battery pack.

8. Insert the Hex wrench in the locking nut and turn it clockwise to lock the battery retainer in place.

9. Hook the bottom edge of the battery door into the battery compartment. Push the battery door down over

the battery compartment. Push the battery door latch down and slide it toward the top end of the terminal

to lock the door in place.

To remove the battery pack

1. Press

to turn off the terminal.

2. Open the battery door by pushing down on the battery door latch and sliding it toward the bottom end of

the terminal. Lift up the top edge of the battery door to remove it.

3. Insert the Hex wrench in the locking nut and turn it counterclockwise to loosen the battery retainer.

4. Use the Hex wrench to push the battery retainer away from the battery pack.

5. Slide the battery pack toward the bottom end of the terminal.

6. Tilt the terminal and let the battery pack drop out into your hand.

Avertissements et précautions

Processus de char e du bloc-batterie

•Vous devez utiliser le chargeur de batterie Trakker Antares TZ2400 ou Z2400 pour recharger votre bloc-

batterie.

•Vous devez entièrement charger votre bloc-batterie avant de l'utiliser dans le terminal.

•En règle générale, un bloc-batterie est entièrement chargéen moins de trois heures.

•Enlevez le bloc-batterie du chargeur dans les 24 heures suivant la fin du processus de charge.

•Les blocs-batteries peuvent être chargés après une décharge partielle sans que la capacitéd'origine de la

batterie en soit affectée.

Remarque: Bien que le bloc-batterie Intermec ressemble aux blocs-batteries de caméra vidéo

disponibles sur le marché, il ne tiendra pas dans d'autres chargeurs de batterie.

Attention

Utilisez seulement un chargeur de batterie Intermec TZ2400 (réf. n° TZ2400A) ou Z2400 (réf.

n° TZ2400A) pour recharger le bloc-batterie Intermec (réf. n° 068868). La recharge de ce bloc-

batterie avec tout autre chargeur annule la valeur nominale intrinsèquement sans danger de ce

terminal.

Installation et retrait du bloc-batterie

Ne remplacez le bloc-batterie principal que par la pièce Intermec réf. n°068868. L'utilisation de tout autre

bloc-batterie présente un risque d'incendie ou d'explosion. Contactez votre représentant local Intermec pour

obtenir des batteries de rechange.

Pour installer le bloc-batterie

1. Ouvrez la porte de la batterie en poussant sur son loquet et en le faisant glisser vers l'extrémitéinférieure

du terminal. Soulevez le côtésupérieur de la porte de la batterie pour l'enlever.

2. Tenez le bloc-batterie avec le côtéplat tournévers l'intérieur du compartiment de la batterie. La petite

flèche située sur le dessus du bloc-batterie doit pointer vers l'extrémitésupérieure du terminal (oùse

trouve l'affichage).

3. Placez le bloc-batterie dans le compartiment.

4. Engagez les fentes situées au bas du bloc-batterie dans les fentes situées au bas du compartiment de la

batterie.

5. Faites glisser le bloc-batterie vers l'extrémitésupérieure du terminal jusqu'àce qu'il tienne en place et se

verrouille. Le bloc-batterie doit être placéle plus àl'avant possible pour pouvoir fermer la porte de la

batterie.

6. Àl'aide de la cléhexagonale livrée avec le terminal, tournez la vis de blocage du dispositif de retenue de

la batterie dans le sens contraire des aiguilles d'une montre pour dégager le dispositif de retenue qui

empêche que la batterie tombe dans un endroit dangereux.

7. Utilisez la cléhexagonale pour pousser le dispositif de retenue de la batterie vers le bloc-batterie.

8. Insérez la cléhexagonale dans la vis de blocage et tournez-la dans le sens des aiguilles d'une montre pour

verrouiller le dispositif de retenue de la batterie en place.

9. Raccordez le côtéinférieur de la porte de la batterie dans le compartiment de la batterie. Poussez la porte

de la batterie sur le compartiment de la batterie. Poussez le loquet de la porte de la batterie et faites-le

glisser vers l'extrémitésupérieure du terminal pour verrouiller la porte en place.

Pour retirer le bloc-batterie

1. Appuyez sur

pour éteindre le terminal.

2. Ouvrez la porte de la batterie en poussant sur le loquet de la porte de la batterie et en le faisant glisser vers

l'extrémitéinférieure du terminal. Soulevez le côtésupérieur de la porte de la batterie pour l'enlever.

3. Insérez la cléhexagonale dans la vis de blocage et tournez-la dans le sens des aiguilles d'une montre pour

dégager le dispositif de retenue de la batterie.

4. Utilisez la cléhexagonale pour éloigner le dispositif de retenue de la batterie du bloc-batterie.

5. Faites glisser le bloc-batterie vers l'extrémitéinférieure du terminal.

6. Inclinez le terminal et faites tomber le bloc-batterie dans votre main.

Warnun en und Vorsichtsmaßnahmen

Alle hier angeführten Warnungen und Vorsichtsmaßnahmen müssen zur Sicherheit des Bedienenden und

anderer Personen an möglicherweise gefährlichen Standorten beachtet werden:

•Dieses Terminal darf nur verwendet werden, wenn die Umgebungstemperatur zwischen -20°C und +40°C

beträgt.

•Batterien dürfen an gefährlichen Standorten NICHT gewechselt oder aufgeladen werden.

•Dieses Terminal darf an gefährlichen Standorten nicht an andere Geräte angeschlossen werden.

•Dieses Terminal ist intrinsisch sicher, solange es nicht mißbraucht oder beschädigt wurde.

Aufladen der Batterie

•Sie müssen das Trakker Antares TZ2400- oder Z2400-Batterieaufladegerät verwenden, um die Batterie

aufzuladen.

•Sie müssen die Batterie vollständig aufladen, bevor Sie sie in Ihrem Terminal verwenden.

•Normalerweise ist eine Batterie in weniger als drei Stunden komplett aufgeladen.

•Nehmen Sie die Batterie innerhalb von 24 Stunden nach Beendigung des Aufladevorgangs aus dem

Ladegerät.

•Batterien können nach teilweisem Entladen wieder aufgeladen werden, ohne dass die ursprüngliche

Vorsicht

Installieren und Entfernen der Batterie

Ersetzen Sie die Hauptbatterie nur mit Intermec-Artikelnr. 068868. Das Verwenden einer anderen Batterie

stellt möglicherweise ein Feuer- oder Explosionsrisiko dar. Setzen Sie sich mit Ihrem örtlichen Intermec-

Vertreter bezüglich Ersatzbatterien in Verbindung.

So installieren Sie die Batterie

1. Öffnen Sie die Batterieklappe, indem Sie den Riegel der Batterieklappe herunterdrücken und diese zum

unteren Ende des Terminals schieben. Heben Sie den oberen Rand der Batterieklappe an, um sie zu

entfernen.

2. Halten Sie die Batterie mit der flachen Seite nach unten in Richtung Innenseite des Batteriefachs. Der

kleine Pfeil oben auf der Batterie mußauf das obere Ende des Terminals zeigen (das Ende mit der

Anzeige).

3. Legen Sie die Batterie in das Batteriefach.

4. Verhaken Sie die Schlitze auf der Unterseite der Batterie mit denen auf der Unterseite des Batteriefachs.

5. Schieben Sie die Batterie in Richtung oberes Ende des Terminals, bis sie hineinpaßt und einrastet. Die

Batterie mußganz vorn sein, damit die Batterieklappe schließt.

6. Nehmen Sie den Sechskantschlüssel, der mit dem Terminal mitgeliefert wird, drehen Sie die

Sicherungsmutter des Batteriesprengrings entgegen dem Uhrzeigersinn, um den Batteriesprengring zu

lösen. Der Batteriesprengring soll das Entfernen der Batterie an einem gefährlichen Standort verhindern.

7. Verwenden Sie den Sechskantschlüssel, um den Batteriesprengring zur Batterie hinzuschieben.

8. Legen Sie den Sechskantschlüssel über die Sicherungsmutter, und drehen Sie sie im Uhrzeigersinn, um

den Batteriesprengring festzuklemmen.

9. Haken Sie das untere Ende der Batterieklappe in das Batteriefach. Drücken Sie die Batterieklappe nach

unten über das Batteriefach. Drücken Sie den Batterieklappenriegel nach unten, und schieben Sie ihn zum

oberen Ende des Terminals, um die Klappe einzurasten.

So entfernen Sie die Batterie

1. Drücken Sie die

-Taste, um das Terminal auszuschalten.

2. Öffnen Sie die Batterieklappe, indem Sie den Batterieklappenriegel nach unten drücken, und schieben Sie

sie zum unteren Ende des Terminals. Heben Sie den oberen Rand der Batterieklappe an, um sie zu

entfernen.

3. Legen Sie den Sechskantschlüssel über die Sicherungsmutter, und drehen Sie sie entgegen dem

Uhrzeigersinn, um den Batteriesprengring zu lösen.

4. Verwenden Sie den Sechskantschlüssel, um den Batteriesprengring von der Batterie wegzuschieben.

5. Schieben Sie die Batterie zum unteren Ende des Terminals.

6. Kippen Sie das Terminal, und lassen Sie die Batterie herausfallen.
