1Introduction
IPEX PH485REPi™ is a RS-485 Repeater and Amplifier. If it is needed to have RS-485 network with more than
1200m length or to have more than 32 nodes, using a PH485REPi™ helps you to increase the network length up
to 2400m and also to have up to 64 devices connected to it. PH485REPi™ is compatible with RS-485 standard
devices differential Data+ & Data- signals and is fully Plug & Play. It works with a wide range of +10V up to +30V
DC power supply with low (about 40mA) consumption. PH485REPi™ is designed for industrial usage and is
useful for Industrial Automation, Telecommunications, SCADA Systems, and DCS Systems …
Protection against Surge, ESD and EMI is considered in its design and also has 3kV isolation between RS-485
sides. Since RS-485 is a Half-Duplex standard, switching between transmit and receive is done automatically and
no further signal (such as RTS) is required. PH485REPi™ supports Point-to-Point and Point-to-Multi Point Party
Line network topologies.

3Package Checklist
Before installing the PH485REPi, verify that the package contains the following items:
1) PH485REPi
2) Installation CD-ROM
3) #2 Phonix 7Pin Green terminals
NOTE: Notify your sales representative if any of the above items is missing or damaged.
4Top Panel
Green LED: It is turned ON, when the power supply connects to +VS and GND correctly.
Yellow LED: It is blinking if there is a data stream from right to left side of the repeater.
Blue LED: It is blinking if there is a data stream from left to right side of the repeater.
5Power Supply
Connect a DC voltage in range of +10V to +30V, between +VS and GND terminals. If the power supply connects
correctly, the Green LED should be ON.
NOTE: It is not required to connect GND signal from one side to GND signal of other side.
