3.1Authorizeduse
Thismachineisdesignedforsawingwood,woodderived
materialsaswellassimilartobemachinedhardplasticsonly.
Machiningofothermaterialsisnotpermittedandmaybe
carriedoutinspecificcasesonlyafterconsultingwiththe
manufacturer.
Theworkpiecemustallowtosafelybeloaded,supportedand
guided.
Theproperusealsoincludescompliancewiththeoperating
andmaintenanceinstructionsgiveninthismanual.
Themachinemustbeoperatedonlybypersonsfamiliarwith
itsoperation,maintenanceandrepairandwhoarefamiliar
withitshazards.
Therequiredminimumagemustbeobserved
Themachinemustonlybeusedinatechnicallyperfect
condition
Whenworkingonthemachine,allsafetymechanismsand
coversmustbemounted.
Inadditiontothesafetyrequirementscontainedinthis

Usesuitabletableextensionsandsupportingaidsfordifficult

Nevercutpiecesthataretoosmall.
Presstheworkpiecedownagainstthetabletoavoid
ancontrollablelifting.
Removetheworkpiecefromthebladepriortoturningthe
scrollsawON.
Feedtheworkpiecetowardsthesawbladeinthedirectionof

Factorstoconsiderwhenselectingablade:
‐Typeofmaterialtobecut(hardwood,softwood).
‐Thicknessofworkpiece(thickerpieceswillrequirelarger
blades).
‐Featuresofworkpiece(straightcuts,sweepingcurvesortight
fretwork).
Thesefactorsareimportant(Fig12,Fig13).

Generally,widerbladesareusedformakingstraightcutsand
longcurves.Narrowbladesaresuitedforcutswithtight
corners,suchasfretwork.Whencuttingstraightlineswitha
narrowblade,theblademayhaveatendencytodrift.
Pitch:
Pitchismeasuredin“teethperinch”(TPI)andcanbeconstant
orvariable.
Afinepitch(moreteethperinch)willcutslowlybutmore
smoothly,andminimizevibration.
Trytouseabladethatwillhaveaminimumof3teethengaged
intheworkpieceatanygiventime.
Set:
“Set”referstothemannerinwhichthebladeteetharebentor
positioned.
Bendingtheteethcreatesakerf(K)thatiswiderthantheback
oftheblade(T).
Twocommonsetsarethestraightoralternatingset(S)and
therakerset(R).
Material:
Bladesaremanufacturedbystamping,milling,orgrinding.
Stampedbladesarepunchedoutonapressfromsheetsteel.
Milledbladesaremadecuttingtheteeththrougha“milling”
process,thenheat‐hardeningthesteel.
Groundbladeshavehigh‐carbonsteelteethwhichtendtohold
theirsharpnesslonger,andprovidesmoothcuts.
Specialstylesarealsoavailable,suchastwistandspiralblades,
whichcutfromallsides.
Mostbladesofferedare130mm(5inches)long.
Optimally,ablade(andtheoperator’stechnique)shouldleave
smooth,cleancutsthatdonotrequiresanding.
Theusermayfindafewcarefully‐selectedstyleswillserve
mostofhisorherneeds.Theselectioncanbeexpandedasthe
usergainsexperience.

Toothform(Fig30)hasaneffectoncuttingrate.
‐Regular(A)Standardbladeformwithevenlyspacedteeth
andzero‐degreerakeangle.Offerscleancutsatslowerfeed
rates.
