TheJLN-550DopplerSonarisdesignedtoprovideshipspeedinformationwithhigherstabilityin
thedualfrequencymodes;oneusingalowerultrasonicfrequencythatisadequatetomeasurethe
ships speed against the ground up to larger depths and the other using a higher ultrasonic
frequencythatallowstheshipsspeedagainstthewatertobemeasuredeveninwaterwithtiny
bubbles. The transduceris designed fordual-frequency transmission, butits size issmaller than
theconventionalmodels.
Shipspeedmeasurementisinsensible tobubblesgeneratedinhigh-speednavigation,ensuring
stablespeeddisplay.
Thetransducerissubstantiallydownsized,allowingittobeinstalledonthebowsidethatis
littleaffectedbybubbles.
Anunderwater-mateableconnectorisadoptedforthetransducer,sothatatransducercanbe
replacedataquayevenincaseofitsfailure.
The equipment is provided with an additional function of indicating the ships fore and aft
speedsandportandstarboardspeedsbyenteringGPSinformation.
Theshipsport andstarboardspeedsatitsarbitraryposition canbeindicatedbyentering
ROTinformation.
AnoptimalDopplersonarsystemcanbeconfiguredbycombiningavarietyofoptions.
On-linemaintenance(option)allowsanyfailuretobedetectedduringnavigation.
