installtheTP90CatchMonitoringPositioningTransceiverUnit.
Targetaudience
Thepublicationisintendedfortechnicalpersonnelsuchasskilledshipyardworkers,
electricians,qualiedengineersandnavalarchitects.Itisassumedthatyouunderstand
thegeneralprinciplesofmarineelectronicequipment.Youmustalsobefamiliarwith
theinstallationofelectronicandmechanicalproducts.Youareexpectedtohavebasic
mechanicalskillsandfamiliaritywithhandlingsensitiveelectronicequipment.

Theinformationinthisdocumentmustberegardedasguidelinesandrecommendations.

Theinstallationshipyardmustprovideallnecessarydesignandinstallationdrawings,as
wellastherelevantworkstandardsandmountingprocedures.
Ifrequired,alldocumentsprovidedbytheshipyardforthephysicalinstallationofthe
TP90systemmustbeapprovedbythevessel’ snationalregistryandcorresponding
maritimeauthorityand/orclassicationsociety.Suchapprovalmustbeobtainedbeforethe
installationcanbegin.Theshipownerandshipyarddoingtheinstallationareresponsible
forobtainingandpayingforsuchapproval.
KongsbergMaritimeASwillacceptnoresponsibilityforanydamageorinjurytothe
product,vesselorpersonnelcausedbyequipmentthathasbeenincorrectlyinstalledor

TP90CatchMonitoringPositioningTransceiver
TheSimradTP90CatchMonitoringPositioningTransceiverisanoptionalpartofthe
SimradTV80catchmonitoringsystem.Bymeansofthistransceiver,theTV80canprovide
informationabouttherelativepositionoftheITIandPxPossensorsplacedonthetrawl.
Thetransceiverconnectstooneortwotransducers.Initially,onlysingletransducer
installationissupported.Thetransceivercanreceiveinformationfromarelevantselection
ofITIsensors,excepttheITITrawlEyeandtheITICatch.
Thetransceiverrequiresanexternalpowersupplyoffering12to15Vdc,minimum5A.A
suitablepowersupplyisprovidedwiththedelivery.AhighqualityEthernetcableconnects
thetransceivertothecomputer.Thedistancebetweenthecomputerandthetransceivercan
beextendeduptomaximum70meters.Ifalongercableisrequired,cutitinhalf,andinsert
anEthernetswitchtoprovidebufferamplication.
ATV80systemwithPxPossensorsandaTP90transceiverallowsyoutomeasuretherange
andbearingtoeachsensoronthetrawl.Themeasurementsofrangeandbearingprovidethe
positionofthesensorsrelativetothevessel,andthusthelocationofthetrawl.Whenthis
positionisknown,youcanavoidwrecksandotherobstaclesontheseabed.Thismeansthat
aTV80systemttedwithaTP90transceivercanreplaceanexistingITIsystem.
PositioninformationissenttoandfromthetransceiverviaNMEAsentences.For
moreinformation,refertotherelevantsoftwarereleasenoteandtheTV80end-user
documentation.
