IMPORTANT INFORMATION FOR CUSTOMERS TO READ
Please read before delivery/installation of your cooker
Thank you for purchasing a Lacanche Cooker. To ensure that delivery/installation of your
cooker runs smoothly it is essential that you read the following carefully and adhere to all
specifications.
Please feel free to contact us regarding any aspect of the purchase of your Lacanche cooker.
The sales office telephone number is 01202 733011.
Type of Gas
Please check that the gas supply required (Natural/LPG) is correctly stated on our Order
Acknowledgement.
In the UK
In the UK the cooker must be installed by a Gas Safe registered engineer.
A suitable diameter copper pipe is required to supply the appliance with a constant 20
millibars of natural or 37 millibars of propane gas. The last metre of the copper pipe should
step to a 15mm diameter. The gas pipe should terminate with a plug-in female bayonet
pointing downwards. Although a 900mm hose can be used, a 1250mm hose will allow slightly
more flexibility in the positioning of the bayonet and make moving the cooker easier. The
hose should be fitted so that both inlet and outlet connections are vertical, so that the hose
hangs downwards in a ‘U’ shape.
For Natural Gas the flexible hose must be in accordance with B.S.669.
For LP Gas it should be capable of 50mbar pressure, 70C temperature rise and carry a red
stripe, band or label. If in doubt contact your supplier.
Safety Requirements and Regulations
This cooker must be installed in accordance with the relevant instructions in the Lacanche
Manual, with the relevant national and local regulations, and with the local gas and electricity
supply companies’ requirements.
Before installation, make sure that the cooker is suitable for your gas type and supply voltage.
See the data badge on range

ventilated space.

• For Natural Gas – BS 6172 and BS 6891.
• For LP Gas – BS 5482-1 (when the installation is in a permanent dwelling), BS 5482-2 (when

Ventilation Requirements
The room containing the cooker should have an air supply in accordance with BS 5440 Part
2: 2000. All rooms require an openable window or equivalent, while some rooms
require a permanent vent in addition to the openable window. The cooker should not be
installed in a bedsitting room with volume less than 20m3. If it is installed in a room of
volume less than 5m3 an air vent of effective area 100cm2 is required; if it is installed in
a room of volume between 5m3 and 10m3, an air vent of effective area 50cm2 is required;
while if the volume exceeds 11m3, no air vent is required. If there are other fuels burning
appliances in the same room, BS 5440 Part 2: 2000 should be consulted to determine
the requisite air vent requirements.

Building in Instructions
A. The stainless-steel hob of the appliance should not be lower than the adjoining
worktops. The worktops can butt up to the hob.
B. Above the level of hob top surface of the appliance, there must be a minimum
lateral clearance of 75mm between the edge of the appliance and any adjacent
surface. This minimum clearance may be reduced to 50mm when the surfaces
are made of a fireproof material (ceramics, glass, stone, metal).
C. There must be a minimum vertical clearance of 800 mm between the top
surface of the appliance and any horizontal surface above.
D. When the appliance is being built into a run of units, inglenook or a chimney
a gap of 5mm must be maintained either side of the appliance.
E. Lacanche range cookers are designed to sit proud of the adjacent units. Units
adjacent to the cooker should not sit flush or proud of the cooker doors (including
oven, simmer oven and cupboard doors), but should sit flush with the main body of the
cooker, for side opening cupboard or simmer oven doors to open wide enough to insert
or remove shelves.
F. If the furniture next to the range is deeper than 595mm, the cooker will need to be
moved forward. The gap at the rear of the cooker can be filled by using the Lacanche
island spacer which is 70mm deep.
G. The above dimensions must be adhered to. Fourneaux de France Ltd is not responsible
for degradation of paintwork or material adjoining the cooker.
