Introduction
1.4 Important Information
1.4.1 Network Security
The NTWB1 cre tes n open network with no p ssword required to
connect to it. Do not connect WiFi device (such s pc) which h s
sensitive inform tion stored on it s nyone within close proximity could
potenti lly connect to the NTWB1 nd ccess the connected device(s).
If it is necess ry to connect device with sensitive inform tion stored on
it then seek profession l dvice on how to protect your device. As
minimum, ensure ll virus detection nd firew ll softw re is up to d te
nd oper ting.
If you re r cing your competitors could potenti lly view your bo t's
instrument d t when in r nge of the NTWB1's WiFi sign l due to the
open network. Ple se be r this in mind when r cing!
1.4.2 Discl imer
Use the NTWB1 entirely t your own risk. M dm n M rine Pty Ltd
will not be held li ble for ny consequenti l loss, d m ge or injury in ny
w y connected with the use of the NTWB1 NMEA to WiFi Bridge.
M dm n M rine Pty Ltd’s li bility under ny circumst nces sh ll not be
gre ter th n the origin l purch se price of the NTWB1.

2.1 Installation
2.1.1 Overview
The NTWB1 c n be mounted to ny fl t surf ce inside the bo t’s c bin
where it will be protected from w ter nd mech nic l d m ge.
The NTWB1 does not need to be in direct line of sight of the WiFi devices
which will connect to it so c n be hidden out of view if desired, however
the fewer obstructions between the NTWB1 nd connected WiFi devices
the better the reception perform nce will be.
2.1.2 Mounting Loc tion
The following must be t ken into ccount when selecting
mounting loc tion:
•Room to tt ch the ntenn ,
•Ability to view the LED indic tors,
•Obstructions between NTWB1 nd other WiFi devices,
•Protection from w ter (including condens tion) nd mech nic l
d m ge,
•Proximity to equipment or c bling which could c use interference to
or be interfered by the NTWB1.
There re two fl nges on the NTWB1 enclosure which h ve holes
provided for mounting to ny fl t surf ce with screws (2 required).
Altern tively self- dhesive Velcro could be used to mount the NTWB1 in
ny convenient loc tion. Refer to Illustr tion 2 for fl nge loc tions.

2.2.1 C ble Route Consider tions
Although the supplied c ble h s individu lly screened conductors to
reduce the effects of interference from electrom gnetic noise (EMI) c re
should still be t ken in selecting the route the c ble of the NTWB1 is to
t ke. The c ble should be kept s f r s possible from the following items:
•r dio tr nsmitters,
•ntenn s nd ntenn c bles,
•fluorescent lights,
•electric l c bles c rrying AC current,
•engines including outbo rd motors
•AC powered electric l equipment

Also void routing the c ble ne r comp sses or other sensitive
instruments to void interference from the NTWB1.
2.2.2 Electric l Colour Code
The colour coding of the 4 cores of the NTWB1 c ble is s follows:
Red +12Vdc
Black 0Vdc
Yello NMEA d t OUT (to Listeners)
White NMEA d t IN (from T lker)
2.2.3 Electric l Connections
Connect +12V to the red wire nd 0V (neg tive) to the bl ck wire. If you
in dvertently reverse the pol rity no d m ge will be done to the NTWB1.
Simply reconnect with the correct pol rity.
The White wire c rries d t to the NTWB1 from NMEA t lker. The Yellow
wire c rries NMEA d t from the NTWB1 to NMEA listeners.
The NMEA connections re single-ended where the 'other side' is
connected to 0V. This me ns where two wires (A/+ & B/-) re provided on
your NMEA equipment for NMEA In only one wire (the A/+ wire) need be
connected. This pplies for the NMEA Out wires lso.
Refer to the specific instructions for the p rticul r NMEA equipment you
pl n to connect for sign l wire colours s the wire colours re not
st nd rdised between m nuf cturers.
Note: The B/- wires ay need to be connected to 0V (negative) if the
single wire connection does not work. Refer to anufacturers instructions
to check if this can be done without da aging the equip ent.
