Beforeyoustart
Protect the measuring tool against moisture and direct sun irradiation. Before switching the measuring tool on,make sure that the
sensor area isn’t moist, If required, dry the measuring tool using a cloth.
If the measuring tool was subject to an extreme temperature change, allow it to the adjust to the ambient temperature before
switching on. Microwave ovens and other transmitting equipment will affect the detection result.
WARNING! Keep the work area clean and well lit, cluttered and dark areas
may cause accidents. Do not operate the product with the presence of
ammable/explosive gases.
CAUTION! This product is not shock-resistant. Do not drop it or use it as a hammer.
CAUTION! For safety purposes, please always keep the tools away from any liquid.
Liquid increases the risk of electric shock and damage to the product.

Toinstallbatteries
1. This instrument requires 1x9V (6F22 OR 6LR61) not included.
2. Remove the battery compartment cover.
3. Insert the batteries paying attention to the polarity (+/-)
marked on the compartment and batteries.
4. Close the battery compartment cover.
CAUTION!
• ALWAYS turn off the instrument before replacing the batteries.
• ALWAYS remove the batteries if the instrument is not to be used for
extended periods.
• ALWAYS use high quality batteries of the same brand, type and age.
• When the battery indicator falls to one bar the readings given by the instrument
may become unreliable. ALWAYS replace the battery when the battery indicator
displays one bar or less.
• DO NOT expose the batteries or instrument to extreme temperatures or direct
heat source, as this can cause the batteries to leak.
• If the batteries should leak, remove them using a cloth and dispose of them
according to local regulations. Clean any leaked battery acid avoiding any contact
with skin, eyes & mouth.
• If any contact does occur, rinse affected areas immediately with fresh water and
seek medical advice.

BatteryLifeandCare
NOTE!
When the battery indicator falls to one bar the readings given by the instrument
may become unreliable.
CAUTION!
• ALWAYS replace the battery when the battery indicator displays one bar or less.
Thedetectorcanbeusedin3modes:
1. Wood Detection - - For detection of wooden battens/joists below the surface.
2. Live Wire Detection - - For detection of live/current carrying (220-240V) cables below the surface.
3. Metal Detection - - For detection of metallic objects below the surface.

LEDIndications
There are 3 LEDs (5) located at the top of the detector. They are coloured RED, AMBER and GREEN. When using the detector in
any of the 3 modes, the LEDs indicate the presence of the material detected.
GREEN – No material detected
AMBER – Possibility of material detected. Signal may be weak.
RED – Material detected

CalibratingtheDetector
BEFORE EVERY USE, the detector should be calibrated to ensure maximum accuracy. To do this, switch the detector on and
then press the relevant function button (2, 3 or 4) for the task to be carried out. Hold the detector away from any surfaces, metallic
objects or cables and ensure ngers are not covering the sensor plate on the underside. Press and hold the function button again
until any beeping stops and the GREEN LED is illuminated then release the function button. To ensure condence in any readings
taken, ALWAYS test the detector on a known area eg. Live wire, wooden joist, metallic object before detecting sub-surface objects.
If readings are unsatisfactory, DO NOT USE THE DETECTOR.

WoodDetection
Switch the detector on, select the wood detection mode ( ) and then calibrate as detailed above.
Place the detector on the surface to be scanned and move it slowly in a sideways direction. Keep ngers clear of the sensor to
avoid inaccurate readings.
When a wooden object is detected below the sensor, the detection signal strength bars (F) will illuminate, showing the amplitude of
the received signal. 100% indicates a strong reading. If the object is directly beneath the sensor, the detection proximity sensor (E)
will also be fully illuminated. Repeat the process, moving the detector in the other direction to conrm material position.

MetalDetection
Switch the detector on, select the metal detection mode ( ) and then calibrate as detailed above.
Place the detector on the surface to be scanned and move it slowly in a sideways direction. Keep ngers clear of the sensor to
avoid inaccurate readings. When a metallic object is detected below the sensor, the detection signal strength bars (F) will illuminate,
showing the amplitude of the received signal. 100% indicates a strong reading. If the object is directly beneath the sensor, the
detection proximity sensor (E) will also be fully illuminated. The detector will also show an approximate distance (in cm) to the metal
being detected. Repeat the process, moving the detector in the other direction to conrm material position.
The detector will also indicate if the metal is magnetic or non-magnetic, as shown below:

NOTE!
• When used in metal detection mode, foil backed plasterboard will cause
inaccurate readings.

LiveWireDetection
Switch the detector on, select the live wire detection mode ( ) and then calibrate as detailed above.
Place the detector on the surface to be scanned and move it slowly in a sideways direction. Keep ngers clear of the sensor to
avoid inaccurate readings.
When a live wire is detected below the sensor, the detection signal strength bars (F) will illuminate, showing the amplitude of the
received signal. 100% indicates a strong reading. The red LED will ash and a beeping will be heard. If the wire is directly beneath
the sensor, the detection proximity sensor (E) will also be fully illuminated. Repeat the process, moving the detector in the other
direction to conrm wire position.
CAUTION!
Live wire detection will only work on a wire containing a standing voltage or a current
carrying circuit. If no voltage is present, use in metal detector mode.
WARNING! Live AC wires cannot be detected in shielded cables, wires in metal
pipes or conduit, or behind high density walls.

This product is guaranteed for 5 years from the date of purchase, if bought in store, or delivery, if bought online, for normal (non-
professional or commercial) household use. You may only make a claim under this guarantee upon presentation of your sales
receipt or purchase invoice. Please keep your proof of purchase in a safe place.
The guarantee covers product failures and malfunctions provided the Materials Detector was used for the purpose for which it is
intended and subject to installation, cleaning, care and maintenance in accordance with standard practice and with the information
contained above and in the user manual. This guarantee does not cover defects and damage caused by normal wear and tear
of the Materials Detector and damage that could be the result of improper use, faulty installation or assembly, neglect, accident
modication of the product. The guarantee is limited to parts recognised as defective. It does not, in any case, cover ancillary costs
(movement, labour) and direct and indirect damage.
If the Materials Detector is defective during the guarantee period, then we reserve the right, at our discretion, to replace the
defective Materials Detector with a product of equivalent quality and functionality or to provide a refund.
This guarantee only applies to the country of purchase or delivery and is not transferrable to any other countries. This guarantee is
non-transferrable to any other person or product. Relevant local law will apply to this guarantee. This guarantee is in addition to and
does not affect your statutory rights relating to faulty goods as a consumer.

Protéger l’outil de mesure de l’humidité et des rayons directs du soleil. Avant de mettre en marche l’outil de mesure, s’assurer que
la zone de détection n’est pas humide. Si nécessaire, sécher l’outil de mesure à l’aide d’un chiffon.
Si l’outil de mesure a été soumis à un changement de température extrême, le laisser s’ajuster à la température ambiante avant de
le mettre en marche. Les fours à micro-ondes et autres équipements de transmission affectent le résultat de détection.
AVERTISSEMENT : Conserver la zone de travail propre et bien éclairée ; les zones
encombrées et sombres peuvent provoquer des accidents. Ne pas utiliser le produit
en présence de gaz inammables/explosifs.
ATTENTION ! Ce produit n’est pas résistant aux chocs. Ne pas le faire tomber et ne
pas l’utiliser comme marteau.
ATTENTION ! Pour des raisons de sécurité, toujours tenir les outils à l’écart de
tout liquide. Les liquides augmentent le risque de choc électrique et endommagent
le produit.

Pourinstallerlespiles
1. Cet instrument nécessite 1 piles 9V (6F22 OR 6LR61)
(non fournies).
2. Retirer le couvercle du compartiment des piles.
3. Insérer les piles en prêtant attention à la polarité (+/-)
indiquée sur le compartiment et les piles.
4. Fermer le couvercle du compartiment des piles.
ATTENTION :
• TOUJOURS éteindre l’instrument avant de remplacer les piles.
• TOUJOURS retirer les piles si l’instrument ne sera pas utilisé pendant de
longues périodes.
• TOUJOURS utiliser des piles haute qualité des mêmes marque, type et âge.
• Lorsque l’indicateur de batterie ne comporte plus qu’une barre, les relevés donnés
par l’instrument peuvent ne pas être ables. TOUJOURS remplacer la pile lorsque
l’indicateur de batterie afche une barre, voire moins.
• NE PAS exposer les piles ou l’instrument à des températures extrêmes ou à une
source de chaleur directe, cela peut provoquer une fuite au niveau des piles.
• Si les piles fuient, les retirer à l’aide d’un chiffon et les mettre au rebut
conformément à la réglementation locale. Nettoyer les fuites d’acide de batterie
en évitant tout contact avec la peau, les yeux et la bouche.
• Si un contact se produit, rincer immédiatement les zones touchées avec de l’eau
douce et consulter un spécialiste.

TémoinsLED
Le détecteur comporte 3 témoins LED (5) situés dans la partie supérieure. Ils sont de couleur ROUGE, ORANGE et VERT. Lorsque
l’un des 3 modes du détecteur est utilisé, les témoins indiquent la présence ou non du matériau recherché.
VERT - Aucun matériau détecté
ORANGE - Présence possible du matériau recherché. Le signal peut être faible
ROUGE - Matériau détecté

Étalonnagedudétecteur
AVANT CHAQUE UTILISATION, le détecteur doit être étalonné de manière à assurer la plus grande précision possible. Pour cela,
allumer le détecteur, puis appuyer sur le bouton de fonction (2, 3 ou 4) correspondant à la tâche à effectuer. Tenir le détecteur à
l’écart de toute surface, tout objet métallique et tout câble et s’assurer que les doigts ne recouvrent pas la plaque du capteur située
en-dessous du détecteur. Appuyer sur la touche de fonction et la maintenir enfoncée à nouveau jusqu’à ce que le signal sonore
s’arrête et que la LED verte s’allume, puis relâcher la touche de fonction. Pour garantir des relevés ables, tester TOUJOURS
le détecteur sur une zone connue, par exemple sur un l électrique, des solives en bois, un objet métallique avant la détection
d’éléments sous la surface. Si les relevés ne sont pas satisfaisants, NE PAS UTILISER LE DÉTECTEUR.

Détectiondebois
Allumer le détecteur, sélectionner le mode de détection de bois ( ), puis procéder à l’étalonnage, comme expliqué ci-dessus.
Placer le détecteur sur la surface à examiner et le déplacer lentement de manière latérale. Garder les doigts à l’écart du capteur
pour éviter des relevés inexacts.
Lorsqu’un objet en bois est détecté sous le capteur, les barres représentant l’intensité du signal de détection (F) s’allument et
indiquent l’amplitude du signal reçu. 100 % indique une forte présence du matériau recherché. Si l’objet est directement sous le
capteur, le capteur de proximité de détection (E) sera totalement allumé également. Répéter l’opération, en déplaçant le détecteur
dans l’autre sens pour conrmer la position du matériau.
