INTRODUCTION
Thank you for purchasing the Metriful MD-21 carbon dioxide monitor.
Use the MD-21 to assess ventilation effectiveness in your home, office or
classroom.
Better ventilation helps to reduce the risk of CO2discomfort and virus
transmission.
The MD-21 provides:
•Accurate measurements of indoor CO2at concentrations up to
5000ppm
•A colour-coded air quality indicator light
•An alarm to warn you of high CO2levels
•Manual and automatic calibration for best performance
This guide contains important safety and operating instructions. Please
read it before using the product, and retain it for future reference.

•Stand
•User manuals (English, German, French, Dutch)
A standard USB power source with type-A socket is also required (not
included).

SAFETY INFORMATION
WARNING: This product is intended for use in ordinary indoor
residential areas only. It is not designed to detect asphyxiation risks
from carbon dioxide (CO2) or any other gas.
•DO NOT use this product in situations where its failure could cause
injury or death.
•DO NOT use this product in commercial or industrial applications.
WARNING: This product is not a carbon monoxide (CO) detector
and will not sense carbon monoxide, a poisonous gas.
WARNING: This product contains a lithium battery. Improper use of
lithium batteries can cause fire or explosion.
•DO NOT burn or dispose of the product in a fire.
•DO NOT crush, cut, disassemble or modify the product.
•DO NOT expose to temperatures above 40°C or below 5°C.
•DO NOT insert or allow foreign objects to enter the vent openings.
•DO NOT connect the product to unapproved or non-compliant
power sources.
WARNING: This product is not designed for use by children or
persons with reduced physical, sensory or mental capabilities

BEFORE USING THE MONITOR
Assembly and setup
1. Insert the stand into the two holes on the back of the monitor. Slide
the stand upwards to lock it in place.
2. Unfold and straighten the USB cable. Insert the micro USB plug into
the USB socket of the monitor.
3. Insert the USB-A plug into a compatible USB power supply (not
included) and arrange the cable to avoid causing a trip hazard.
4. Start the monitor by pressing and holding button 4 for five seconds,
until the display illuminates.
5. Set the time and date – go to page 13: Set the time and date.
6. Calibrate the monitor – go to page 16: Manual calibration procedure.
Positioning tips
•Position the monitor on a stable, level surface such as a table or
desk.
•Bend the USB cable to assist positioning of the monitor. Avoid
twisting the cable.
•Place at least two metres from windows, doors and air vents.
•Place at least two metres from people to avoid directly sensing
exhaled breath.
•Keep the monitor away from direct sunlight and out of the reach of
children.
•Use one monitor per room, or one for every 120 m2of floor area in
larger rooms.

USING THE MONITOR
Reading the display
The monitor automatically measures CO2every five seconds. The
measured CO2concentration, time and date are displayed on the screen
in two information display pages.
Press the +and −buttons to move between the two information display
pages.
Using the buttons
The monitor has four control buttons which operate by capacitive touch
sensing. Press the buttons gently with the widest part of your fingertip.

Dimming the screen
Briefly press button 4 to dim the screen.
➔All lights are disabled except for the air quality indicator, which flashes
once every five seconds.
Press any button to restore the display.
The screen dims automatically after one minute when not on USB power,
and during the daily “Do Not Disturb” period.

Alarm function
The alarm triggers when the air quality changes from good or
intermediate to bad.
➔The monitor sounds an alarm tone for 30 seconds.
➔The displayed values flash for 30 seconds, even if previously
dimmed.
If the air quality changes from good to intermediate, the values flash for
30 seconds without sound.
