th tabl and/or tightly h ld in a vis which, in turn,
is prop rly mount d.
• Mak sur th machin is bolt d s cur ly to your
workb nch.
For machine longevity:
• Mak sur all moving parts ar lubricat d with
machin oil or gr as .
• Mak sur th driv b lt t nsion is tight nough to
avoid slipping und r h avy load, but not so tight as
to ov rload th motor and spindl b arings.
• K p th machin cl an.
Use common sense:
• Do not us th machin for oth r than its int nd d
purpos .
• Do not us th machin to do jobs that it was not
d sign d to do.
• Do not us th machin to do work in xc ss of
its rat d capacity.
The electrical power/safety system is protected by a large red switch located on the right side
of the control box. To unlock the safety shut-off switch, slide the big red cap toward the front
of the machine to undo the latch. Then swing open the door a bit. If the speed control is all the
way counterclockwise (in the clicked-off position), the green panel light will light, indicating
you are ready to turn up the speed.
SAFETY INSTRUCTIONS

2.1 Fundamental Machine Location
Th machin should b bolt d to a workb nch to pr v nt it from sliding about
and to maintain pr cis op ration.
Selecting a Good Location
(1) Th workb nch should hav a flat surfac .
(2) Avoid a location with dir ct sunshin , h avy moistur or dust.
Mounting Instructions
(1) Drill 4 locating hol s through th workb nch to match th hol s in th
machin ’s bas . (B sur to provid ad quat cl aranc for th mov m nt
of th Y-axis handwh l.)
(2) Us m tal shims to l v l th machin and attach to th workb nch with appropriat
siz bolts, wash rs and nuts.
2.2 Check the Following Before Switching on the Machine
To avoid personal in ury, please assure the following:
1. R mov all tools us d to mount th machin to your workb nch.
2. Ch ck that th lin pow r match s th machin r quir m nts (s lab l on front of machin ).
3. R mov all stray obj cts in th vicinity of th machin .
4. R mov anti-rust coatings.
5. Ch ck th tip angl of th column and tight n th column bolt.
6. Mak sur chuck, R8 shank and drawbar ar mount d corr ctly and spin fr ly.
7. S t sp d (RPM) knob to OFF (fully count r-clockwis ).
8. Ch ck op ration of handwh ls and f d scr ws for prop r op ration.

2.3 Starting and Running the Machine
Plug your machin to lin pow r, taking all pr cautions pr viously stat d and insuring that th sp d control knob is
full count r-clockwis , s tting it to OFF (you will NOT h ar an audibl click). You may now unlock th Em rg ncy Off
Button by pr ssing in th saf ty lock on th l ft sid of th switch and th n lifting up.
You will find a gr n (ON) button and a r d (OFF) button. Pr ss th gr n button to activat /pow r th pan l. Th
gr n light will illuminat .
If all is still cl ar, slowly rotat th knob (clockwis ) to b gin th rotation of th spindl driv syst m.
Run th machin for a total of 5 minut s, and during this tim , gradually incr as th spindl sp d to its maximum.
Continu to run th machin at this sp d for at l ast 2 minut s, th n shut it off. Disconn ct th plug from th wall
outl t. Ch ck that all compon nts ar still s cur and working fr ly and corr ctly. Also ch ck to nsur th
mountings ar s cur .
2.4 Machine Overload:
If you xc d th machin ’s capability, it is possibl for th machin to shut down and go into ov rload during
a milling/drilling op ration. Should this happ n, th y llow fault light will illuminat and th digital r adout
will display “ERR.”
IMPORTANT! First, rotat th RPM knob to OFF (count r-clockwis ). You will now notic that th y llow ov rload
light has gon out. Whil it is possibl to start spinning again simply by rotating th RPM knob, at this point w
advis you to push down on th m rg ncy stop button and inv stigat th caus of th ov rload. Onc you hav
cl ar d th situation, th n, and only th n, should you b gin th startup s qu nc in this s ction.
CAUTION:
Always turn the speed control to the OFF position before starting the mill. Starting the mill
with the speed control set to a higher speed can damage the speed control circuit board.
3.1 reventative Maintenance
3.1-1 Daily Maintenance
(1) Insp ct ach op rating part to nsur suffici nt lubrication.
(2) Ch ck for loos or brok n parts.

3.2 Maintenance of Accessories
3.2-1 Maintenance of Cutter
(1) Whil installing a cutting tool, plac a rag und r it to avoid damaging th cutt r or th tabl if
th cutt r accid ntally falls.
(2) Stor cutting tools in wood or plastic box to avoid damaging th cutting dg s.
(3) V rify spindl is turning in th prop r dir ction – if vi w d from b low, th chuck should spin
count r-clockwis ; oth rwis , prop r cutting action will b d f at d. If unsur about dir ction
of rotation, us slow sp d or watch car fully as machin com s to a stop.
(4) B for starting machin , mov th workpi c n ar th cutt r, th n start machin and mov into
position n d d for milling.
(5) K p cutting tools sharp. Dull cutt rs ar hard on th machin , on th work pi c , and d stroy pr cision.
3.2-2 Tips for Using Accessories
(1) K p shanks cl an.
(2) K p pairs of cutt rs and hold rs tog th r wh n v r possibl to incr as op rating confid nc in
subs qu nt us .
(3) Us th wr nch s suppli d with th machin to tight n th drawbars and chucks to avoid damag that
can b caus d by inappropriat tools.
(4) Us wr nch s to tight n bolts. N v r us pli rs or hamm rs on machin tools.
3.1-3 Repairs and Maintenance
(1) K p a r cord of all machin r pairs.
(2) Do not p rform any r pairs whil th machin is running.
(3) Insp ct th machin r gularly for prop r op ration; p rform all r pairs imm diat ly.
(4) If you’r unsur about your ability to mak r pairs, contact your d al r’s s rvic d partm nt
for assistanc .
3.3 Lubrication
Be sure to keep all working parts properly lubricated:
USE LUBRICATING OIL
(1) Base and saddle seat sliding faces.
(2) Saddle seat/working table sliding faces.
(3) Column seat and connecting strut sliding faces.
(4) Headstock and spindle box sliding faces.
USE LUBRICATING GREASE
(1) X-Axis feed screw (saddle seat).
(2) Y-Axis feed screw (work table).
(3) Z-Axis feed gear rack (headstock).
After use, clean the work table and coat lightly with oil to protect from rust.
