DESCRIPTION
OurnewgenerationBMS Background Music/Message System isavailable
withbothSingleAudioChanneland DualAudioChannel output.
ModelsBMS1,BMS2 andBMS3areallSingleChannelSystems.Thesemodels
devices provide a Stereo Line Level Output, and play Encrypted MP3 files
storedon a single SD-HC Flash Card.
Models BMS4, BMS5, BMS6 and BMS7 are Dual Channel Systems. These
models devices provide a Stereo Line Level Output for Background Music/
Messagesandasecondchannelwhichcan alsobe aStereoLineLevelOutput,
for use as a second Background Music/Message zone or supplied with an
Amplifiedoutputwhere it can be used forMessageOnHoldapplications. Both
circuits play Encrypted MP3 files, which are stored on TWO separate SD-HC
FlashCards.
Important Note : The Flash Card content storage format for all of the above
newBMSModels is different to that of earliergenerationsanda separate New
BMSControl Program MUST be used with the above New Models.
This User Guide should be used for the following 3 new models :
Model BMS1 is a Background Music Player only.
Model BMS2 is a Background MusicAND Message Player.
Model BMS3 isaBackgroundMusicAND MessagePlayer,whereallContent
andSettings can be updated via the Internet.
All models incorporate an internal Real Time Clock circuit which will allow for
AUTOMATIC time programmed MUSIC FOLDER change andalso to specify
when MESSAGES (BMS2 and BMS3 only) should be played.
Up to 16 MUSIC FOLDERS and up to 250 MESSAGES (BMS2 and BMS3
only) can be loaded onto the supplied SD-HC CARD and the device will only
playMUSICFOLDERSandMESSAGESbetweenspecifiedtimes and dates.
Youcan also program all models to StartPlayingandStopPlayingatspecified
times for each individual day of the week.
FLASH CARD INFORMATION
BMS uses a standard SD-HC Flash Card to storeMP3 based Music and
Messages.
EachSD-HC card must be configured
to operate with BMS. This is done by
using the Condition BGM SD Card
facility in the BMS Control Program.
CONDITIONYOUR SD CARD
1. Insert the SD or SD-HC card into
yourSD Card programmer.
2. Select Condition BGM SD Card
facility in the Control Program.
Theprogram will Format thecardas FAT32 anditwill also automatically create
a MUSIC FOLDER on the Flash Card, which has 16 Sub Folders numbered
fromF001toF016.The program will also automatically create a MESSAGES
folderwhere BMS2 and BMS3 users can save MessageAnnouncements.
IMPORTANT NOTES
1. Sub Folders should be reased or replaced. They should not be deleted.
2. Whenreusing Flash cards, it is important that you CONDITION eachFlash
cardbefore loadingreplacementMusic folders ontothecard. Thisisnecessary
to ERASE the file directory of the Flash Card, as Windows does not do this
and will not over write directory information when it is full. You MUST use the
Condition BGM SD Card, selected from the main menu.
FLASH CARD PROGRAMMER
Your MUSIC FILES andMESSAGEFILES(BMS2andBMS3)aretransferred
to the SD-HC Flash Card using an SD flash card programmer. These Flash
Cardprogrammers can bebuiltinto your PC,oran external unit(availablefrom
Natcomm) that can connect to your PC via a USB port.
Flash Card programmers are treated by the PC as a Removable Hard Drive
device.Once connected tothePC,they are automaticallyallocateda separate
DRIVE LETTER so that you can then COPY and DELETE files to the Flash
Cardinserted into this drive, just as youwould do withany other Drive ofyour

MP3 FILE ENCRYPTION
Due to Regulatory Requirements concerning the security of large volumes of
Music,our BMS players useaproprietaryMP3 file Encryption facilitytoprotect
Musicfiles andvaluableproductions fromunauthoriseduse, editingorcopying.
Using Encryption is quick and easy with our supplied Encryption
unitiltywhichisincorporatedwithinourDealerControlProgramand
is also available as a stand alone program. MP3 File Encryption
takes just a few seconds and our program will allow you to Encrypt
a single MP3 file or a complete folder of MP3 files with a single
action.
Once a file is Encrypted, it cannot be opened, altered or used in any device
other than a Natcomm unit which is configured for Encryption. Similarly, our
Encryptiondevicescannotplay standard MP3 files or any file other than those
encryptedwith our program.The same Encryption program is usedforALLof
ourproducts,ensuring standardisationofprocesses.You canthough Play an
Encryptedfile using our Dealer Control Program (seetop menu onpage 5).
The ENCRYPTION process will typically take from 5-15 seconds, depending
onthe speed ofyourcomputer.The ENCRYPTIONprocess needonlybe done
once and when completed it will not affect copying times to Flash Cards or
alter the Audio Quality. Encrypted .MP3 files are automatically renamed as
.BMS files.

BrowseIcon.
You can Encrypt a Single File
ora Complete Folder by
changingtheradiobutton
setting.

Encryption process will begin.

RANDOM MUSIC FILE PLAY
Becauseof thelargevolumes of Music
that will normally be used, BMS uses
SUB-FOLDERSon theFLASH CARD.
16 Sub-Folders are Automatically
createdontheMUSICFLASHCARD,
whenyou use the Condition BGM SD
Card facility in the Control Program.
EachSub-FolderscanhaveaMAX of
250 SONGS. This will provide for a
Maximumof 4000 songs.
BMS will only play Encrypted MP3 Files, Encrypted with our Encryption
program.
You should transfer complete folders of Encrypted Music (max of 250 songs
perfolder) ontotheMUSIC cardusingour our BMSControlProgram (seepage
6forfurther detail). MUSIC FILE PLAY
On power up, BMS will Randomly select and play a Music File from Folder
F001(or the first Music folder with files).It will then Randomlyselect and play
a Music File from the next Music Folder with files (usually F002) and so on
until it reaches Folder F016, OR the last Folder which contains Music Files.
Onceafile has played from the last folder, BMS willrepeattheabove process,
Randomlyselectinganunplayed Music File from the first Folder again, so that
ALLMusicFilesinany FolderwillbeplayedbeforeaMusicFileis everrepeated.
Ifyou use the Music Folder Time Programming facilityor the TimedStop Play
/StartPlay facilites, BMS will remember all files that have played and carry on
asnormal once itstartsplaying again. Ifpowerisremoved or the SD-HCFlash
Cardisremoved,thenBMS will RESTARTfrom the first folder.
The use of Folders presents a perfect opportunity to arrange your Music into
separateGENREgroups.Our TimeProgrammed MusicFolderfacilitywillallow
you to program individual Music Folders to play during a specific time period
(within a single day), or for specific days of the week or for a specified period
(using a start date and stop date). You can also use tthe START and STOP
playfacility tocoincidewith business hours.Seepage 8 for further information.

MUSIC FOLDERS TRANSFER
BMS plays Music from MUSIC
FOLDERSon the FLASH CARD.
1) Double Click ‘Transfer Music
Folders to BGM Card’
2) Migrate to the Music Folder to be
copiedtotheSD-HCCard
3) Specify the Folder Number that the
Music files should be copied to

MUSIC FOLDER PROGRAMMING
Because BMS Music Folders can be Time and Date programmed, they
MUST have a Folder Name of F001-F016 to identify them for Time
Programming purposes.
Sub Folder Numbers (F001-F016) are automatically set up in the Root
Directory Music Folder, during the Flash Card Conditioning process.
Whentransferring Music Folders, you
MUST use ‘Condition BGMSD Card’
intheDealerControlProgram.
Each MUSIC FOLDER loaded on the
Music Card can be individually time
programmed to play within the
following criteria:
* From a specific START DATE to a specific STOP DATE.
Where a START DATE is not specified, a Music Folder will PLAYby default
on power up. This Music Folder will then play until a STOP DATE. If a
STOP DATE is not specified, the Music Folder will PLAY indefinitely.
Note : When the START DATE and STOPDATE are in different years, you
MUST enter the YEAR for each date. You cannot select EVERY YEAR.
* From a specific START TIME to a specific STOP TIME.
Where a STARTTIME is not specified, a Music Folder will PLAY by default
on power up. This Music Folder will then play until a STOP TIME. If a STOP
time is not specified, the Music Folder will PLAY indefinitely.
Note :theSTARTand STOPTIME must be on the SAMEDAY. For example,
you cannot Start a Folder at 8PM and program it to stop at 1AM. See
pages 20-21 for more information.
* On specific DAYS OF THE week only.
Music Folders can be set to play EVERYDAY, or only on specified days of
the week.

Step 1
Enter Timed Music Play Programming
All Music Folders will be displayed in Numeric order, on
the left hand side of the screen
In the above screen shot, you can see that Folder F001 is set to play atALL
Times on EVERY DAY without a Start or Stop Date.
Only 5 Folders of Music have been loaded on the SD-HC card (F001, F002,
F004,F006and F008)

Step 2 Click on the First Music Folder to Highlight it.
a) Enter the Start and End Dates for the period you wish it to play. If
there are no specific date periods,leave it set to Every.
b) Enter the Start and End Times that you wish it to play. If there are no
specific time periods, leave it set to All.
c) If this Folder is only to play on particular days of the week, de-select
Every Day and then select the required days.
If the Music Folder should play 7 Days a week, leave it set to Every Day.
In the sample above, Music Folder 1 has been set to play :
a) only between 1 Jun 2015 and 1 Aug 2015.
b) it will only play between 8AM and 12 Noon
c) it will only play on Monday, Wednesday and Friday.

Step 3
Click on the Second Music Folder to Highlight it.
a) Enter the Start and End Dates for the period you wish it to play. If there
are no specific date periods, leave it set to Every.
b) Enter the Start and End Times that you wish it to play. If there are no
specific time periods, leave it set to All.
c) If this Folder is only to play on particular days of the week, de-select
Every Day and then select the required days.
If the Music Folder should play 7 Days a week, leave it set to Every Day.
Step 4
Repeat this same sequence for All Loaded Music Folders.
Note - If any Music Folders are to play at all times and days, then you can
leavethemUNCHANGED,asthese are the default settings for each Music
Folder.
Step 5
Whenprogrammingiscomplete
Clickon the SaveChangesIcon
A file containing this complete timetable (called Music.tbl) is now saved
within the Music Folder of your Flash Card.
This file is then loaded into the BMS internal Memory as soon as your
Music Card is inserted into BMS.
