Pre-Assembly Processes
There are some pre-processes that need to go through before assembling commenced. Once completed, the
assembling processes should go without any tolerance and clearance issues. Here are the processes:
1. Cleaning and clearing tolerance processes.
2. Making sure/checking the parts just t in. Use the following tools:
2.1. Fiber carbon and/or 3D printed pins.
2.2. Built in pins.
2.3. Rod as hinge part mechanism.
2.4. Push rod.
2.5. Fiber carbon wing spar.
Tools Used for Cleaning and Clearing Tolerance
The gures below are tools that you may need to run pre-assembly processes but not limited to.
Cleaning and Clearing Tolerance
The gures above explains themselves how to use the tools except the heated rod. The heated rod is used whenever
can not use drill for not reachable position such as cleaning or clearing holes for pushrod. Just push the heated rod
quickly until it gets out of the hole so that it clears unwanted plastics inside the hole.

Checking Tolerance (Making Sure it ts)
Once you have done cleaning and clearing tolerance processes, need to make sure that now it ts each other when assembling.
15mm and 30mm Pins Clearance
▷Have two options, either utilizing ber carbon or 3D printed one.
▷The gures below show where ber carbon tube (color in black) or printed pins (color in blue) are located.
▷There are two size of pins, the one with 15mm and 30mm long depending on how deep is the hole.
▷Reprocess cleaning and clearing if found that there is signicant resistances.
Checking Built In Pin Clearance
▷Checking the built in pin t into its pair by following the provided animation video.
▷By pressing the two parts, check if there is no signicant gap or it ts in its position correctly.

Checking Rod Clearance for Attaching CS (Control Surface) Parts
▷Using rod to check that there is no resistance
when inserting the pin.
▷Try to push and pull the rod checking if there is
signicant resistances.
▷Reprocess cleaning and clearing shown on the
right side if found signicant resistances.
Checking Clearance for Push Rod
▷Just insert the push rod into its position.
▷Make sure that there is no resistances.
▷Reprocess cleaning and clearing shown on the
right side if found signicant resistances.
Checking Clearance for Wing Spar
▷Just insert the push rod into its place.
▷Make sure that there is no resistances.
▷Reprocess cleaning and clearing shown on the
right side if found signicant resistances.

Finding and Checking Pin Position
The objective of using pins is to make the assembly processes run smoothly (t in correctly). The process of nding
and checking pin position is to make sure that the pins are well installed/used.
Finding Through Sliced STL Object
▷The two gures below show how to nd the pin locations by utilizing the Slicer.
▷Take note and ,next ,try to nd them in the printed parts.
Locating The Pins Directly
▷Try to nd the pin location on the printed part before gluing.
▷Also try to insert the pin to make sure it ts nicely.
▷Reprocess cleaning and clearing shown below if found signicant resistances.

Fuselage And Wing Assembly

Fuselage And Wing Assembly
All fuselages and wings are designed to be ready with the usage of guide or alignment tools.
Please nd details below explaining about guide or alignment mechanism utilizing built in pin, ber carbon tube
pin/3D printed plastic pin, ber carbon spar and push rod.
Preparing Required Hardware (Fiber Carbon Pin/3D Printed Plastic
Pin and Fiber Carbon Spar)
▷The ber carbon tube pin can be
replaced with 3D printed one.
▷There are two types of pins for ber
carbon and 3D printed one: 15mm and
30mm long.
▷The rod is used as push rod connecting
control surface horn with servo arm.
▷Fiber carbon tube shown on the right
side gure is used as wing spar (not all
Models require it).

Guide and/or Alignment Tools or Mechanism for Fuselage and Wing
Tools used for fuselage and wing guide and/or alignment are depicted in the gures below:
Gluing Two Parts
▷Use thick CA for bonding two parts so that it will also ll
the gaps.
▷Press rmly so that there is no gap between joining
surfaces.
▷Use CA accelerator right after joining (for faster cure
time).
▷Good practice if you coat the joining surface area with
thin CA so that it will add more bonding strength. It will
minimize risk breaking on that area due to weak
bonding.

Wing And Fuselage Pin

Wing And Fuselage Pin
To attach wings into the fuselage, OWLplane Models use either screw/nut or 3D printed pin. Please nd below details
their usage.
3D Printed Plastic Pin
▷The 3D printed plastic pin is inserted into two holes from the fuselage and wing.
▷Once inserted and to lock the pin position, it uses 1mm OD metal wire or similar one.
Screw, Nut and Washer
▷Some Model Planes such as Delta Hornet OWL and
VJet OWL, they use simply screws and nuts (with
optional washers).
▷Either nylon or metal screw and nut can be used.
