2. Before Repair
1. Turn off the power supply. Using a10 , 10W resistor, connect
both ends of power supplycapacitors (C571 -574, 558) inorder to
discharge the voltage.
2. Before turning the power supplyon, after completion of repair,
slowlyapplythe primaryvoltage byusing apower supplyvoltage
controller to make sure that the consumed current at 50HzinNO
SIGNALmode shouldbe shownbelow with respect to supply
voltage 230/230-240V.

3. Protection Circuitry
The protection circuitrymayhave operatedif eitherof the following conditions are noticed:
-Nosound isheard when the power isswitched ON.
-Sound stops during aperformance.
The function of this circuitryis toprevent circuitrydamage if, forexample, the positive and
negative speakerconnection wires are “shorted”, orif speakersystems withanimpedance less
thanthe indicatedratedimpedance of the amplifierare used. / If this occurs, followthe
procedure outlines below:
1. Switch OFF the power.
2. Determine the cause of the problem and correct it.
3. Switch ONthe power once again.
Note:
When the protection circuitryfunctions, the unitwill not operate
unless the power isfirst switched OFF and ONagain.

4. Handling Precautions for Traverse Deck
The laserdiodes inthe traverse deck (optical pickup) maybreak downdue topotential
difference causedbystatic electricityof clothes orhumanbody. / So, be careful of electrostatic
breakdownduring repairof the traverse deck (optical pickup).
4.1. Handling the traverse deck / (optical pickup)
1. The traverse deck (optical pickup) isan extremelyhigh-precision
construction and must not be subjected to impact, excessive
vibration, or other types of rough handling.
2. Inorder to prevent staticelectricitydamage to the laser diode, use
ashort pinor similar tool to short the optical pickup’sflexible
circuitboards after theyhave been disconnected from the main
circuitboard.
3. Handlethe flexiblecircuitboards with care; excessive force could
cause them to be broken.
4. Donot turn the pre-set variableresistor (for adjustment of the
laser power); ithas been adjusted at the factory. / (as shownin
Fig.1)
Fig.1
4.2. Grounding for electrostaticbreakdownprevention
1. Human bodygrounding / Use the anti-ataticwrist strap to
discharge the staticelectricityfrom your body.
2. Work tablegrounding / Put aconductive material (sheet) or steel
sheet on the area where the optical pickup isplaced, and ground
the sheet. (sa shownin Fig.2)
Fig.2
5
Caution:
The staticelectricityof your clothes will not be grounded through
the wrist strap. / So, take care not to let your clothes touch the
traverse deck (optical pickup)
4.3. Caution when Replacing the Traverse Deck
The traverse deck has a short point shortedwithsolderprotect the laserdiode against
electrostatic breakbown. Be sure toremove the solderfromthe short point before making
connections.
CAUTION:
THISPRODUCTUNTILIZES ALASER. USE OFCONTROLS OR
ADJUSTMENTS ORPERFORMANCEOFPROCEDURES OTHER
THAN THOSE SPECIFIEDHEREINMAYRESULT INHAZARDOUS

8. Operation Checks and Component Replacement
Procedures
-Thissection describes procedures for checking the operation of
the major printed circuitboards and replacing the main
components.
-For reassemblyafter operation checks or replacement, reverse the
respective procedures. Special reassemblyprocedures are
described onlywhen required.
