PATON MultiPRO DC MMA/TIG/MIG/MAG - 6 -
1. GENERAL PROVISIONS
PATON™MultiPRO-250/270-400V/350-400V inverter multifunction machines are designed
for manual metal arc welding (MMA), gas tungsten arc welding (TIG) and metal inert gas /
metal active gas (MIG/MAG) with safety gases and mixtures at direct current. The
advantage of deploying a fully digital control system in this machine is its ability to
seamlessly handle multiple modes like MMA, TIG, and MIG/MAG. Unlike analog controls,
which are typically optimized for a specific mode and face inefficiencies when switched to
other modes, the digital method avoids these common issues. In an entirely digitized
system, the control board leverages its full potential, independent of the operational mode.
The MultiPRO series is engineered specifically for industrial applications. For enhanced
safety and user convenience during TIG or MMA welding procedures, the power source can
be decoupled from the wire feeder. This configuration negates the necessity to transport a
weighty unit with a loaded welding wire spool.
For improved TIG welding capabilities, the welder incorporates an arc initiation mechanism
utilizing high-frequency (HF) technology. This setup allows for TIG welding in 2T and 4T
mode with tungsten electrodes ranging in diameter from 1.0 to 4.0 mm, providing
versatility across various applications and accommodating diverse material thicknesses and
welding scenarios. The integration of the HF module not only facilitates consistent and
efficient arc striking but also minimizes the risk of tungsten contamination. While the HF
technology contributes to enhancing the overall weld quality and integrity, it's important to
note that achieving optimal results still relies on factors such as the welder's skill, shielding
gas quality, and material preparation.
The inverter rectifier can be adjusted to the most optimal setting in various situations. It
provides virtually uninterrupted load duration at the rated current, which is sufficient for
operation with any electrodes from ∅1.6 mm up to ∅6 mm and for semi-automatic welding
with solid wire or flux core of diameter from ∅0.6 mm to ∅1.4 mm. The source is preset to
optimal parameters suitable for a majority of tasks, and while it maintains simplicity,
delving into the advanced settings necessitates considerable expertise from the welder.
This equipment offers seamless transitions between DCEP and DCEN polarities, ensuring
optimal welding performance across various conditions and materials. For environments
posing potential risks, an integrated voltage reduction mechanism is incorporated in the
MMA mode, with an option for activation or deactivation.
A hallmark of PATON™semi-automatic machines is their robust, premium-grade 4-roller,
hermetically sealed wire feed mechanism, inclusive of all primary rollers. Furthermore,
these devices are equipped with the globally recognized EURO type connector, granting
users the flexibility to interchange torches as per their preferences.
The MultiPRO models from PATON™incorporates have a built-in undervoltage protection,
as well as short-term overvoltage protection. Upon shutdown, the unit retains all active
settings and subsequently restores them upon reactivation.
