Roof Mount Installation
1. Determine antenna installation location. When choosing a mounting
location, attempt to center the antenna on a ground plane, positioning the
antenna so that it has at least 203.2 mm (8 inches) of ground plane in any
given direction. Try to maintain a space of at least 406.4 mm (16 inches)
from other antennas or metallic structures.
Select a location with gentle surface curves along the center/middle raised
ridge of the 2020 Ford Police Interceptor® Utility vehicle rooftop.
Note: Installation on the lateral raised ridges of the vehicle’s rooftop is
not recommended, and should be avoided.
Ensure that the selected location is clean and damage-free. It is critical
that the location has no wires or critical components running underneath.
A space of at least 16 mm (5/8 inches) deep by 27 mm (1-1/16 inches) in
diameter is required below the mounting surface to allow clearance for the
antenna mounting stud and hardware.
2. Using Drill Jig - 33-0000-02,locate the desired mounting location along rail
and mark a center point using a scratch awl, center punch or permanent
marker. (Option: Use Drill Jig 33-0000-01 to locate the desired mounting
location along rail and drill a 3.175 mm (1/8 inch) pilot hole using a high-
speed drill bit.) Finish drilling the 25.4 mm (1 inch) to 27 mm (1-1/16 inch)
diameter hole. A multistep Uni-bit is recommended. Drill with caution.
Do not drill through wires, headliner or anything else, other than the
roof section.
3. With the nal hole drilled, clean the area and deburr any sharp metal
from the roof. Clean the surface with 70/30 isopropyl alcohol and a clean
rag before placing the antenna. Remove the protective lm to expose the
VHB tape.
4. Insert the cables through the hole and mount the antenna. The gasket
should sit ush with the contour of the roof rib. Press down slightly on the
antenna to properly secure the tape.
5. Inside the vehicle, feed the backplate through the cables and onto the
antenna nut. The backplate should sit ush with the interior roof. Slide the
nut around the cables and tighten onto the stud. Torque the nut to 14 Nm.
