Multi-Purpose Detector

Proper Use

This device is intended to be used for detecting metal and

live electrical wires. The device is not intended for commercial

use.

perfect condition.

Safety Instructions

General Safety Instructions

Children or other persons who do not have the know-

ledge or experience required to use the electrical ap-

pliance, or who have limited physical, sensory or mental

capabilities, must not use the appliance without super-

vision or instruction by a person who is responsible

for their safety. Children must be supervised at all

times to prevent them playing with the appliance.

Do not expose the product to

– extreme temperatures,

– strong vibrations,

– heavy mechanical loads,

– direct sunlight,

– magnetic ﬁelds,

– moisture.

These can damage the product.

Do not immerse the product in water under any circum-

stances. Never hold the product under running water.

Otherwise the product may be damaged.

The device contains sensitive electronic components.

It is therefore possible that nearby radio transmission

devices may cause interference. If false readings occur,

remove such equipment from the vicinity of the device.

Do not use the device in hospitals or other medical

institutions. The device may aﬀect the function of life

support systems.

Electromagnetic interference/ high-frequency emissions

can lead to the appliance failing. In cases of the appli-

ance failing to work remove the battery for a short

while and then replace it. Do this as described in the

“Inserting / changing the batteries“ section.

Check the product for damage before use. Never use

a damaged product.

CAUTION! Never open the housing of the product.

This can result in injury and damage to the product.

Repairs must be carried out by an electrician only.

Battery Safety Instructions

DANGER TO LIFE! Keep batteries

out of the reach of children. Do not leave batteries

lying around. There is a risk of children or animals

swallowing them. Consult a doctor immediately if a

battery is swallowed.

EXPLOSION HAZARD! Never recharge,

short-circuit and/or open batteries. This

can cause them to overheat, burn or burst.

Never throw batteries into ﬁre or water. The batteries

may explode.

Avoid extreme conditions and temperatures that could

have an adverse eﬀect on the batteries, e.g. radiators.

There is an increased risk of leakage otherwise!

Check regularly that the batteries are not leaking.

Leaked or damaged batteries can cause

chemical burns if they come into contact

with the skin; in such cases you must wear

suitable protective gloves.

Avoid contact with the skin, eyes and mucous mem-

branes if ﬂuid has leaked from the battery. In the

event of contact with battery acid, rinse the aﬀected

area with plenty of clean water and consult a doctor

immediately.

Remove light dirt from the battery and product contacts

with a dry, non-ﬂuﬃng cloth before inserting the bat-

teries.

Remove the batteries from the product if it is not in use

for any length of time.

Make sure that the polarity is correct when you insert

the batteries. This is indicated in the battery compart-

ment. The batteries can otherwise explode.

Insert the batteries with care. The product can otherwise

be damaged.

Please do not dispose of used batteries in your house-

hold waste but take them to a designated collection

depot for special waste.

Getting started

Inserting/changing the batteries

Note: First remove the protective foil from the device.

Open the battery compartment 5on the back of the

appliance.

Remove the used batteries if need be.

Insert two new 1.5V batteries (AAA) into the

battery compartment 5.

Note: Ensure correct polarity. This is indicated in the

battery compartment 5.

Close the battery compartment 5again.

Using the Multifunction Detector

Tip! Test the device before initial use on a metal pipe

or power line whose position you know exactly.

Slide the function switch 3to “METAL” in order to

locate metal pipes etc.

Slide the function switch 3to “VOLTAGE” in order to

locate power lines etc.

Keep the detector at a distance from metals and from

live cables.

Afterwards, press and hold down the PUSH button 4.

Point the measuring head 1directly towards the

desired place on the wall while holding down the

PUSH button.

Move the device slowly over the wall surface.

Note: Ensure direct contact between the measuring

head 1and the wall.

Once the device locates metal or power lines, the red

LED 2ﬂashes. A beep is also heard. The closer you

move the device to metal or power lines, the faster the

red LED 2ﬂashes and the more frequently the beep

is heard. If there are power lines or metal in the imme-

diate vicinity, the red LED 2lights up permanently.

The beep sounds continuously.

Release the PUSH button 4in order to stop the

measurement.

No beep is heard when metal or power

lines are in the immediate vicinity.

The batteries are ﬂat.

Change the batteries (see ”Inserting/changing the

batteries”).

Cleaning and Maintenance

Clean the outside of the device only with a soft,

slightly moist cloth. Never use liquids or cleaning

agents, as they may damage the device.
